There was no time for rest as Ebby Halliday s 100th Birthday celebrations continued yesterday at the Omni Park West. The HBA of Greater Dallas hosted a birthday luncheon to benefit Home Aid/Builders Care, the official charity of the HBA. It was more than appropriate, considering it was a developer who helped change Ebby’s product from hats to houses in 1945 with a simple challenge: “If you can sell all these crazy hats to my wife, surely you can sell my crazy houses.”

The event highlighted the strong relationship Ebby Halliday and her company have established with area builders over the past 66 years. The above picture is of the temporary Ebby office space in what was then rural Collin County in the early 1970’s as the first Ebby Halliday Plano office was built. Because it was one of the only buildings in the area, builders would regularly stop by for a cup of coffee and the valuable cameraderie it helped to produce between Ebby Halliday, Realtors and area builders still exists today.

Fox 4 News Anchor Clarice Tinsley presented A Look Back at Ebby , featuring highlights of Ebby s journey to the top of the real estate business which was followed by a video compilation of birthday wishes from various friends and Realtors including Roger Staubach, Ruth Altshuler, T. Boone Pickens, Cindy O’Gorman, Paulette Greene, Kay Weeks, Linda Jordan Hobbs, Martha Morguloff and Ellen Terry. The luncheon also included a speech from Mary Frances Burleson, president & CEO of The Ebby Halliday Companies, and a special happy birthday message from Ross Perot which closed the show (see video below).

Ebby Halliday, Realtors is honored to be involved with Home Aid/Builders Care, which aims to build and maintain dignified housing where homeless families and individuals can rebuild their lives in the Greater Dallas area.
