November marked the exciting arrival of two new names to the Dallas arts scene: PATRON Magazine and Jean Paul Gaultier.

PATRON debuted as the voice of all things art, culture and design in our thriving Dallas community. And, what better way to prove its dedication to the flourishing arts scene than a feature in its premiere issue dedicated to the newest exhibit at the Dallas Museum of Art.

The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk marks the first time the DMA presents an exhibition dedicated to the art of fashion – and most of the more than 140 haute couture dresses and ready-to-wear pieces in the collection have never been exhibited. Considered one of the most important fashion designers in recent decades, Gaultier s eclectic sources of inspiration are showcased including dance (anyone remember the Madonna cone bra?), cinema, television and photography. Excerpts from runway shows, concerts, dance performances, and interviews all provide a look into Gaultier s unique and talented world. But don t expect anything ordinary in this collection of works – thirty animated, talking mannequins are placed throughout the exhibit providing spontaneous and often unexpected commentary. One mannequin even portrays Monsieur Gaultier himself who was in Dallas for the opening of the exhibit:

Dallas is the first of only two U.S. cities on this international tour and the exhibit will be at the DMA through February 12. To learn more, click here.

And, be sure to visit PatronMagazine.com for the great story about the Gaultier exhibit by writer Holly Haber. She sat down with DMA Board President Deedie Rose and Board Vice President Cindy Rachofsky to discuss what Gaultier s exhibit means to Dallas. The two ladies were also challenged with the difficult task of finding a gift for the legendary designer to be presented while he was in town for the opening. The story reveals their decision, which can only be described as perfectly Dallas.

The Ebby Halliday Companies and Luxury Portfolio International are proud to be the exclusive real estate advertisers in the premiere issue of PATRON.
