Yum! This week’s edition of Food & Beverage news is packed with wine-paired dinners, new openings, and preparing for the 2014 NFL season. Check out all of the delicious D-FW events and news below.

 

Events:

Food Truck Schedule: Here’s where you can find your favorite meals-on-wheels this week. In recent food truck news, Klyde Warren Park will now have pizza trucks and Ruthie’s Grilled Cheese has expanded their menu to include new mac ‘n cheese options.

 

Hibiscus Wine Dinner: The Henderson Ave. restaurant is co-hosting a wine-paired dinner with Mi SueƱo Winery tonight, September 2. The five-course meal includes scallops, crispy sweetbreads, duck cassoulet, and more.

 

Chipotle GMO OMG Screening: The burrito-king and Granada Theater are teaming up tonight for a screening and panel discussion, which includes local experts in organic farming. Attendees of this free event will receive a buy one/get one free card for a Chipotle burrito, bowl, salad, or taco.

 

Hypnotic Donuts: We mentioned last week that the donut shop would be opening its newest location in Denton soon. After an open house this past Sunday, the official opening is tomorrow, Wednesday, September 3.

 

Glass Half Full Trivia: Every Thursday night of September, beginning Sept. 4, will be “Geeks Who Drink” trivia night at the Richardson taproom. The winners get movie tickets to Alamo Drafthouse!

 

GrapeFest Kick-Off: Celebrate another year of Grapefest with a special series of “Gourmet Food & Wine Pairings.” Beginning Thursday with Washington State wines at the Hilton D-FW lakes, these events will go through Wednesday, Sept. 10. The main event officially kicks off on Thursday, Sept. 11.

 

Peruvian Wine Dinner: Chef Justo Blanco, a chef who has cooked all over the world, is presenting a five-course, Peruvian-inspired dinner featuring South American wines on Thursday night at Wine Poste. The menu includes Braised Goat Osso Bucco, a Traditional Beef Sirloin Stir-Fry, Charred Meringue with Sweet Lucuma Mousse and more.

 

Italian Wine and Cheese Class: Scardello is hosting a night dedicated to exploring the wonderful cheeses and wines of Italy on Thursday. Seats are limited so reserve yours now.

 

Tailgate Party Cooking Class: It’s time to whip your tailgate cooking skills back in shape! On Saturday, September 6, The Second Floor’s new executive chef, Andrea Maricich, and chef/partner Scott Gottlich will show you how to make all the season’s favorites- from buffalo mac ‘n cheese to spicy nuts. Plus, the restaurant’s mixologist, Seth Brammer, will demonstrate beer cocktails and summer martinis.

 

Crave DFW Cocktail Tour: This next tour is dubbed “Cocktail Tour To The Stars” and will feature many local hotspots where you can enjoy librations and good eats. There will also be a luxury bus with an on-board bartender to keep you feeling fancy throughout the Saturday celebration.

 

Meet. Taste. Review. Vote at Kitchen LTO: It’s time for Kitchen LTO’s newest chef and artist to stake their claim. Sunday, September 7, head to the Trinity Groves spot to meet the finalists, taste-test the chef’s creations, review the proposed artwork, and have a drink or two. You’ll get to cast your vote on who will be the fourth duo to debut at the restaurant. The winners will take over beginning October 2.

 

News:

Cold Beer Company: The newest brewery in Deep Ellum celebrated its opening over Labor Day weekend. They’re all about local food, craft beer, and a great atmosphere.

 

Off The Record Craft Beer & Vinyl: This combination bar + record store opened in Deep Ellum last week. It’s a brand new venture that includes more than 20 beers on tap, a full liquor bar, and a selection of roughly 2,000 records.

 

Smoke Bacon: One of Dallas’ most beloved smokehouses is now selling it’s house-smoked bacon for $10/lb.

 

State Fair Food Winners: The judges have spoken. This year’s Texas State Fair winner of “Most Creative” is the Funnel Cake Ale, and the Fried Gulf Shrimp Boil has won the high honor of having the “Best Taste.” See all the finalists by clicking the link.
