From concerts to sand sculptures, see where to get your fill of fun this Memorial Day weekend.
Thursday, May 21:
Cool Thursday Spring Concert Series: Visit the Dallas Arboretum and listen to a performance by Dallas’ Eagles Tribute Band, Fast Lane. Don’t forget to bring blankets or chairs! 7:30 – 9:30 p.m; tickets from $17.
Thursday Twilight Tunes: Grab a meal from one of Denton’s many eateries and catch Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass Tribute Band performing at Dan’s Silverleaf, east of Denton Square, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Admission is free.
Frost Park Concert Series: If you’re attending this weekend’s Colonial, select stages will be hosting free concerts Thursday to Sunday. Be sure to pack your blankets and folding chairs for the outdoor seating. See the concert schedule here.
Friday, May 22:
Meadows Museum: To commemorate its 50th anniversary, Meadows Museum is offering free admission this Memorial Day weekend. Friday and Saturday: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Sunday: 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Friday Night Fireworks: Head over to Grapevine to watch the skies light up with colorful sparks. This 12-minute show is accompanied by exciting music, which is available for download here. Try to set up shop on the rooftop of the Gaylord Texan’s parking garage — it will give you the best view.
Fantasy in Sand: You’re off to see the wizard in this attraction held at Globe Life Park in Arlington. Texas-sized sand sculptures will be on display, featuring characters from the Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Children will also get a chance to create their own sculptures in the 2,000-sq-ft play area. Tickets begin at $16.
Saturday, May 23:
Thai Culture & Food Festival: Don’t miss out on two full days of Thai festivities! Held at the Buddhist Center of Dallas, the festival will feature foods from all four regions of Thailand, music, food, shopping, dances and more!
Urban Bazaar: Shop local this weekend! Community Beer Co. plays host to flea market Urban Bazaar, where you can find pet products, natural skincare, local art and handcrafted wares. Shopping begins at noon and ends at 6 p.m.; admission is free.
Sunday, May 24:
SOLUNA: Salute to the Armed Forces: In honor of our fallen veterans, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra will be presenting a FREE concert at Klyde Warren Park. The program will feature patriotic favorites and a video collaboration, courtesy of artist Monte Laster and Booker T. Washington students.
