Taste-testers rejoice, this week is all about samples thanks to a myriad of festivals going on in DFW. There’s also a lot going on in terms of new openings and closings. Read about it all below.

 

Wednesday, May 13:

Oak Cliff Cellars Wine Dinner: A five-course meal paired with Oak Cliff Cellars wines will be prepared by Chef DAT at Twenty Seven. The menu features crudo of sea scallop, lobster relleno soup, brisket of cabrito, bleucheese cake and more.

 

Thursday, May 14:

CultureMap Tastemaker Awards: Eat your way through samplings from Dallas’ top culinary talents with a side of specialty cocktails and beer provided by this year’s Bartender of the Year nominees. Join the fun beginning at 7pm at the Empire Room. Proceeds benefit Café Momentum.

 

Dallas Fish Market Takes Back the Night: Join Dallas Fish Market as they refresh happy hour beginning this Thursday. They’re featuring Hendrick’s Gin cocktails and bites from their new bar menu.

 

Friday, May 15:

Main Street Fest: The 31st-annual festival celebrating craft beer is back in Grapevine, Friday through Sunday. Even though the event centers around beer, it promises to be a great time for the whole family.

 

March of Wines Gala & Auction: Good wine, good food, and good music for a good cause. Head to Times Ten Cellars for an event that benefits multiple local charities beginning at 7pm.

 

Saturday, May 16:

Addison Fork & Cork: The annual, two-day event is back this weekend celebrating chefs, breweries, wineries and spirit makers. Friday’s festivities begin at 6pm and Saturday’s begin at noon.

 

Taste of Irving: Back for a second year, this free, outdoor festival features family-friendly activities and food from a variety of Irving restaurants as well as live music and a marketplace.

 

Sunday, May 17:

Sunday Cinema Series at Knife: During select Sundays in 2015, Knife will host guests for a screening of a culinary-themed film, gourmet bites, craft beer, and guest speakers. This Sunday’s event features a screening of Chef.

 

News:

BrainDead Brewing: Though it’s been open since March, the Main St. brewery released it’s first batch of house-brewed beer on May 11.

 

Blaze Fast-Fire’d Pizza: The California-based pizza chain with a build-your-own setup will open it’s first Texas location on May 21 in Frisco. According to the site’s “Locations,” there is also a Fort Worth location “coming soon.”

 

Good Union Urban Barbecue: Richardson’s CityLine complex will be the home to a new BBQ restaurant, set to open in Fall 2015. It’s a sibling chain to Bone Daddy’s.

 

HG Sply. Co.: The Lower Greenville restaurant has plans to open a Fort Worth location in late 2015.

 

Kitchen LTO: The newest chef and artist at Kitchen LTO are Anastasia Quinones and Crimson Shults, respectively. They’ll take over the Trinity Groves spot beginning with dinner on June 2. Quinones will maintain her position through 2015.

 

Scotch & Sausage: The Oak Lawn concept has sold and the former spot is now operating as Le Taco Cantina.
