DFW Weekend Round Up

From live music to culinary events and baseball to fireworks, DFW is serving up something for everyone this weekend. Get the details for those events and more below.

 

 

Thursday, June 25

Evening in the Shed: Occurring every Thursday evening in the month of June, Dallas Farmer’s Market will host an Evening in the Shed. Guests will have the opportunity to shop the market for everything local, including arts and crafts, fresh produce and artisan food. Beer, wine and live music will also be in attendance. Visit the calendar to get the scoop on who’s performing every Thursday. 4-9 p.m.

 

Twilight Tunes: Kick off the weekend early and visit downtown Denton to hear live music by local bands. This Thursday, hear the country tunes of the Bonnie & Nick Norris Band. The concert is held on the Denton County Courthouse-on-the-Square lawn, so remember to bring a blanket, chairs and bug spray. 6:30-8 p.m. FREE.

 

Cool Thursday Spring Concert Series: Visit the Dallas Arboretum and listen to a performance by the Buddy Holly Revue — a tribute to Buddy Holly. The concert will feature Buddy’s hits, as well as hit songs he recorded by Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley. Friday, June 26

Savor Mexico — Puebla: Sample the wonderful flavors of Puebla, Mexico in the annual culinary event, hosted by Desperados Mexican Restaurant, which celebrates the tastes and culture of a particular region of Mexico. The menu, designed by visiting chef Rodrigo Pineda, will be accompanied with imported wine, beers and specialty cocktails. $50/person. 7 p.m. Purchase tickets here.

 

Concerts in the Garden: In this concert event, experience the sights and sounds of Star Wars at Fort Worth Botanic Garden. Have your picture taken with Star Wars characters, then catch the stunning laser light show! The spectacle begins at 8:15 p.m. Don’t forget to pack a picnic! Purchase tickets here.

 

Friday Night Fireworks: Travel over to Grapevine and watch the skies light up with colorful sparks.  This 12-minute show is accompanied by exciting music, which is available for download here. Try to set up shop on the rooftop of the Gaylord Texan’s parking garage — it has the best view and features a DJ with plenty of music. 9:30 p.m.

 

Saturday, June 27

Organic Farmers Market: Visit the Design District’s first Farmers Market along Hi Line Drive. Held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., this event will provide attendees the opportunity to purchase organic produce, order from local food trucks, enjoy live music and participate in on-site fitness demos. A few Design District shops will be featuring sample sales, too, so get there early!

 

Taco Libre!: Travel to downtown’s Main Street Garden and experience Dallas’ first taco and music festival. Sample an array of tacos from DFW’s best taquerias and enjoy live music from local acts. 2-10 p.m. View the schedule of events here. For ticket information, click here.

 

Heroes Celebrity Baseball Game: Once again, Dr. Pepper Ballpark in Frisco will be hosting Dirk Nowitzki’s Heroes Celebrity Baseball Game, presented by Baylor Medical Center. Benefiting the Dirk Nowitzki Foundation and the Heroes Foundation, this game will feature an a-list lineup, including Mavericks and Cowboys players, actors, singers, and local radio hosts. Arrive early for family-fun activities and stay late for post-game fireworks. 4:45 p.m. Purchase tickets here.

 

Sunday, June 28

Salsa & Sangria Sundays: Enjoy sangria and live salsa music on Saint Ann’s patio, located in the Harwood District of downtown Dallas. 7-10 p.m.

 

Concerts in the Garden: Texas native and NBC’s The Voice star Luke Wade will be performing at Fort Worth Botanic Garden. Witness his soulful voice at 8:15 p.m. Purchase tickets here.
