Balch Springs is located in southeast Dallas County. The city is approximately 12 miles west of downtown Dallas and 28 miles southwest of the Dallas/Ft. Worth International Airport. The southwest portion of Balch Springs is served by Dallas Independent School District, while the northeast portion is served by Mesquite Independent School District. The two portions are roughly each one half of the city.
