Please take a moment to read these few words of praise for Bill Short, an Ebby Realtor. In 2004, I received a job offer that required me to move from Plano, Texas to Moline, Illinois. So unexpected was the offer, that I had no time to prepare my home for the housing market. My new career began in May of 2004. For the next couple months, I would return to Texas to fix on the home in hopes of placing it on the market before summer eluded me.
With the help of neighbors and friends, the house was made acceptable for showing by summer. During this same time, my wife had to remain in Texas, while my children and I lived in Illinois. She wanted to ensure the home was kept clean and accessible. We quickly realized that this was not a good solution. We attempted to do a for sale by owner. Our thoughts, like many, were to put it on the market at a low price and surely someone would purchase it. This did not happen. With winter and the holidays moving in, I spoke with my company for some assistance with their program to assist with home sales.
Bill Short and another Realtor were both contacted within hours of each other. They were both asked to show up on short notice (approx. less than a days notice). Bill promptly returned my calls, showed up to the home, with all necessary paper work, and with the appearance of wanting to make this a quick and painless process. The other Realtor was late, paper work missing, had excuses, and no follow-through.
After speaking with Bill, on the phone and receiving input from my wife's interchange with him, we knew he was a genuine person and Realtor. From that point on, it was as if Bill was a Godsend. I had expressed my concern with Realtors leaving lights on and tracking mud on the new carpet. He informed me that this would be unorthodox, but he would check on the home and make sure all was well. We agreed my wife need not stay in Texas.
He was extremely prompt with all his communications. Bill was very attentive to our needs (key pickup, photos -more on this later, walk-thru, suggestions for the home, recommending and checking up on repair work, and continued reassurance).
From the first day meeting him up to the sale of the home was less than a month! I could not believe it. We received final confirmation around Christmas day . We were elated.
All of this is well and above my expectations. Bill Short lifted the bar so high. I In addition to the above, Bill followed through on, what would seem frivolous to some, a request I made before the home sold. After seeing the photographs of the home I requested a photo of the exterior. His shots looked very nice. I presumed he had forgotten about the photo and was busy with his next set of clients. To my surprise, I received the photo in the mail, framed and matted.
