Karen Davis: Ebby s #1 Facebook Fan

Back at the beginning of the year, we ventured into social media. Since then, we’ve been learning as we go, and having a lot of fun doing it.

Our blog as well as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube accounts have experienced a lot of growth over the past months and we’re looking forward to even more growth in the coming year.

We appreciate all of our Facebook Fans, blog commenters, etc – and one person in particular has really supported our efforts on Facebook. Karen Davis, listing coordinator for our Lakewood office has been our most frequent Facebook commenter from the very beginning – she never fails to “like” a post or add a comment.

Of course the one post she was just a few minutes late to read was the one about the limited number of Ebby Roses being available for sale – by the time she got to it, they had sold out.

So when one of those plants went unclaimed, we gave Karen a call and told her to stop by Ebby’s office for a quick visit. (Talk about feeling like you’ve been called to the principal’s office).

When she arrived this morning, she was presented with her very own Ebby Rose by the lady herself as a thank you for her support of the Ebby Facebook Page.

Thank you to everyone for your support and keep up the comments and feedback – you never know when Ebby might have another surprise for a commenter!

Before & After: Dave Perry-Miller on The Importance of Staging

Dave Perry-Miller of Dave Perry-Miller & Associates has a great post on Luxury Portfolio’s Leaders In Luxury Homes & Luxe Living Blog about the importance of staging in today’s luxury real estate market.

He enlisted the services of Dallas-based interior designer Barry Williams of Barry Williams, Inc. to furnish his almost 12,000 square foot Preston Hollow listing at 10005 Meadowbrook.

You can see the impressive results and learn more about the importance of staging here.

Third Quarter Breakfast of Champions Held at AT&T Performing Arts Center

Each quarter, the Associates from every Ebby Halliday Realtors, Ellen Terry Realtors and Dave Perry-Miller & Associates office who have the most listings and sales are honored at a Breakfast of Champions networking event. The Third Quarter breakfast was held this past Friday at the newly opened AT&T Performing Arts Center in Dallas’ Arts District.

Breakfast was served inside the Winspear Opera House at the Winspear Restaurant with catering by the renowned Wolfgang Puck. Honored Associates heard updates from Ebby Halliday executives as well as a special presentation from American Home Shield, a sponsor of the breakfast, and an overview of the AT&T Performing Arts Center by Jill Magnuson, VP of Marketing.

An exclusive, all-access tour of both the Winspear Opera House and Wyly Theatre followed. It was a nice coincidence that our tour guide, Ellen Braht, announced that she had just recently purchased a home from Ebby Associate Bruce Rayburn, who was one of the honorees that morning.

When the tour reached the Winspear stage, which was set for the Billy Crystal show, Associate Shawn Wade decided to test the acoustics of the Opera House for himself by belting out a few notes. We’re happy to say that the Winspear passed with flying colors. It was unanimous.

And once inside the Wyly Theatre, Associates were able to walk the stage currently set for William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. But according to Ellen, this contemporary and fun adaptation would make you think the writer’s first name was Bill instead of William.

For those of you that haven’t seen the amazing flexibility offered by the new Wyly Theatre, check out this great time lapse video showing its full capabilities:

In Memory of Rufus Burleson

The Ebby Halliday Companies have lost a dear friend. Rufus C. Burleson, husband of President & CEO Mary Frances Burleson, passed away in his sleep on November 13.

Many in the company knew Rufus well, he was a regular at company events and one of the biggest cheerleaders for the entire organization. And for those who didn t know him personally, they knew his infamous Dog Art. Rufus and Mary Frances have raised Boxers for many years and each holiday, he created an original Boxer painting which was reproduced as a postcard for every member of the Ebby Halliday Company as well as many friends.

Mary Frances was his best friend and soul mate and he was at her side for 55 years – never missing a chance to support her real estate career or share in her success and honors.

She was his world and he was her cowboy.

Rufus was the epitome of a good guy and we will all miss his big smile, hearty laugh and his uncanny ability to make each and every person he spoke to feel special and appreciated.

Visitation will be held at Restland Funeral Home tonight from 6-8 p.m.

A memorial service and celebration of life is scheduled for Friday, November 20 at 2 p.m. at Park Cities Baptist Church, 3933 Northwest Parkway, Dallas 75225. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall.

Memorial contributions may be made to Buckner International, c/o Jim Huey, Buckner Foundation, 600 N. Pearl St., Ste. 2260, Dallas, 75201 or the American Boxer Charitable Foundation, ABCF Memorial Endowment Fund, P.O. Box 8667, Spokane, WA 99203.
