She s So Excited And She Just Can t Hide It! Ebby To Celebrate Her 99th Birthday With The Pointer Sisters. And You re Invited!

Like most other soon-to-be-99-year-olds, Ebby has decided to ring in her birthday with a few thousand of her closest friends at the Winspear Opera House with a special concert by The Pointer Sisters.

Yeah, that’s our Ebby.

And you’re invited to join her!

The Ebby Halliday Companies are a proud sponsor of “A Special Evening With The Pointer Sisters”, hosted by Alliance Data and benefiting Special Care & Career Services. Ebby is also serving as the honorary chair of the event. And because it occurs on the eve of her 99th birthday, our friends at Special Care & Career Services decided to also make the evening part of Ebby’s birthday celebration.

The best part? The event will raise proceeds to assist the Supported Employment Services (SES) and Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) programs of Special Care & Career Services. SES helps capable people with cognitive disabilities (such as downs syndrome, cerebral palsy, autism, etc) train for, find and keep good jobs. Their ECI program provides teams of specialists to work with babies and toddlers with developmental disabilities and delays to give them a greater chance for success in school.

Here are the details:

Snowmageddon Comes To Dallas

North Texans woke up to the rare sight of snow this morning. And it hasn’t let up all day.

According to WFAA.com, totals will range from 5″ to 7″ by this afternoon and the snow could continue through 2 am, which could easily bring the grand total to 8″. You can see the scene at the Ebby Corporate office in North Dallas above.

And to make us appreciate how little snow we’ve actually received compared to other parts of the country, check out this video showing snowfall around The White House. Washington D.C. has already received almost 60″ of snow this season!

Stay warm and be careful on the roads!

Ebby Serenades Caroline Rose Hunt for Attitudes & Attire

Our little rock star continues to make headlines with her ukulele.

Late last week, she and her trusty uke serenaded Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek Founder, Caroline Rose Hunt (pictured with Ebby above at a United Way dinner in December), at the annual Attitudes & Attire Luncheon.

Caroline is the 2010 recipient of the organization’s Kim Dawson Attitude Award, which honors professional individuals who devote their time to helping and empowering others.

Ebby and Company President & CEO Mary Frances Burleson were recipients of the award in 2001 and Ellen Terry of Ellen Terry Realtors was the award recipient in 1999.

Attitudes & Attire is a non-profit agency that provides the tools that raise self-esteem, promote ethics and build the confidence necessary to succeed in the workplace. Clients of Attitudes & Attire are typically single mothers with little personal or financial support and often are the victims of abuse, generational poverty, addiction and physical disabilities. Through their unique training programs, facilitated by a professional counselor, the agency prepares their clients for the workplace through workshops, professional clothing from their clothing boutique at the Dallas World Trade Center and even dental care through their new Hopeful Smiles Dental Program.

For the past five years, Ebby has been invited to provide a serenade introduction of the award winner by Attitudes & Attire Executive Director, Lyn Berman. The first year she wore a green suit with matching fur stole (pictured above) – and it was such a hit (the suit and the serenade), Lyn insisted she wear it every year following for good luck.

Well, after 5 perfect performances in the same suit, Ebby decided it was time to to pass the luck on by donating it this year to the Attitudes & Attire clothing boutique. No doubt it will be a lucky charm for its deserving recipient.

You can read more about Ebby’s ukulele serenade of Caroline Rose Hunt from the always-in-the-know Jeanne Prejean at D Magazine’s Sweet Charity Blog and from Dallas Morning News columnist, Alan Peppard at dallasnews.com.

To date, Attitudes & Attire has helped more than 13,000 women rise above adverse circumstances. For more about the organization and and to learn how you can help, visit their website.

Ebby s Second Appearance on The Huckabee Show

Well, not literally a personal appearance, but this past weekend, Mike Huckabee and his producers discussed some of the most popular segments on recent shows – and of course, Ebby’s appearance a few weeks ago was at the top of their list!

If you missed the show, you can see the full clip below.

The producers told us they have received tons of e-mails about Ebby since her appearance, including the one they read on the show, which was from Tudie Athens, who has worked for Ebby Halliday for more than 30 years in the Property Management & Residential Leasing Division.

To see behind the scenes photos of Ebby’s trip to New York City for the filming of The Huckabee Show, visit the official Ebby Halliday Facebook Fan Page.

D Home Features Ebby Listings

As usual, the January/February issue of D Home magazine is full of spectacular DFW homes – including a few Dallas homes for sale by The Ebby Halliday Companies. D Home Real Estate Editor Candy Evans chose the following as her “Hot Properties” for this month’s issue:

“Get it all for under $2 million” is how she describes 2506 Perkins Road in Arlington, listed by Linda Magazzine of the Ebby Arlington office. If this one looks familiar, it might be because you saw our holiday ad, created with the help of our friends at Dr. Delphinium Designs & Events. Built by George Lewis the home overlooks Lake Arlington and is only 15 minutes from Cowboys Stadium.

The home of a former designer for Neiman Marcus stores is located at 14225 Hughes Lane in North Dallas. Listed by Gena Richards of the Ebby Preston Center office, this home is all about the details: pecky cypress ceilings, rift cut white oak floors, museum finished walls, art lighting, Walker-Zanger tiles, white Danby marble and more. And this showplace has at least one more magazine spread in its near future – after one look at the photos, you’ll understand why.

Located in the McKinney Historic District is 504 N. Church Street, listed by Nan Riederer of the Ebby McKinney office. This home maintains its 1917 charm, but with all the modern day amenities and conveniences – including a guest house overlooking the jetted pool.

And located on what Candy calls “one of the prettiest nooks in Preston Hollow” is 6316 Meadow Road, listed by Amy Detwiler of Ellen Terry Realtors. This storybook, 1940’s home is situated on a 125′ x 150′ lot – which means it could also be a prime build opportunity.

If these great homes leave you wanting more, you can find thousands of available DFW homes for sale at the website recently named one of the industry’s best by The Web Marketing Association, ebby.com.

Happy searching!

Here Comes The Bride The Making of Ebby s Valentine s Day Ads

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and love is in the air. And that loving feeling was more than apparent for the making of two Ebby Halliday Valentine’s Day ads, which took place over the past week.

We teamed up with The Wedding Party Studio in the State Thomas area of Uptown Dallas to add a little Hollywood to some picture perfect Ebby listings that would be ideal for newlyweds to call home.

With wedding season looming on the horizon, plus the extension of the first time homebuyer tax credit and low interest rates, now is the perfect time to buy a home – and so our Valentine’s Day ad theme was born.

The Wedding Party Studio pulled out all the stops – a bride, groom, gowns, shoes, hair, makeup, photographers, etc. We worked with some of the best wedding vendors in the business.

Many of you know firsthand that it takes a lot of work to plan a wedding over the course of several months – but The Wedding Party Studio planned two distinct looks, tailored specifically to the locations, in a matter of hours.

You’ll see the final results in our ads that debut next week, as well as behind-the-scenes videos.

In the meantime, you can browse photos from our ad shoots at a perfect cottage in the Briarwood area of Dallas and a city chic condo in the heart of Downtown Fort Worth overlooking Sundance Square – find those at the Ebby Halliday Facebook Fan Page here.

And if you can’t wait until next week to start your home search, you can find thousands of available Dallas homes for sale and DFW homes for sale right now at ebby.com.
