All year long we’ve been giving away tickets to the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Kickoff Concert Series as part of our 65th Anniversary. Faith Hill at Fort Worth’s Bass Hall in March, Sting at Dallas’ Winspear Opera House in May and now the finale concert takes place at the site of the big game, Cowboys Stadium.
And just as Jerry-World is more than a stadium, XLV Countdown is more than a concert. In addition to a live performance by Tim McGraw, you’ll also see a star-studded tribute to the 50th Anniversary of the Dallas Cowboys, a celebration of Emmitt Smith’s Hall of Fame career, NFL Films archival footage scored by the 90-piece University of North Texas Symphony Orchestra and a rare public performance by Van Cliburn.
If your interest is peaked and you’d like to find yourself with 2 VIP floor seat tickets, plus access to the VIP pre- and post-concert receptions (you never know who you might rub shoulders with there), we can help you out.
You can register to win your tickets now through September 3 at Ebby.com – and to increase your chances, you can register daily! We hope to see you there!
This morning, the Top Associates from each Ebby Halliday Family of Companies office for Second Quarter 2010 were invited to a Breakfast of Champions celebration and networking event held at the Gaylord Texan Hotel on Lake Grapevine.
The group enjoyed breakfast at the Gaylord’s Riverwalk Cafe and were treated to a personal welcome from hotel representatives who talked in depth about their Summerfest Wonderland Adventure going on throughout the hotel. As a special treat, Alice and the Cheshire Cat were present so Associates could see firsthand the Breakfast with Alice experience which has been popular for children’s parties this summer.
A special thank you to Arch Foundation and CCS who served as our breakfast sponsor.
And if you’re looking for cool escape from the Texas heat without driving too far, keep the Gaylord Texan’s Summerfest in mind. Some of the fun opportunities offered are the Journey Down the Rabbit Hole 3-D Black Light Maze, the Cheshire Cat’s Challenge, the Alice Through the Atrium Glass free exhibit, fireworks and more. To find full details, visit GaylordHotels.com.

The Texas summer heat is sizzling, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a little outdoor living, especially in DFW Metroplex homes. The trend to bring the indoors out is big – retailers everywhere are now offering outdoor rugs, drapes and lamps in addition to the usual outdoor furniture. And it’s not unusual for homes to feature multiple outdoor fireplaces, kitchens, televisions, fans, misters, etc – basically anything that goes indoors can now go outdoors also.
That’s why our ad in today’s Fort Worth Star Telegram highlights some great outdoor living areas in homes currently offered by Ebby offices that serve the Tarrant County area of the Metroplex. In addition to the great Colleyville home for sale pictured above, which offers limitless outdoor living options, you’ll also find a place to relax outdoors in Fort Worth, Southlake, Mansfield and Arlington homes for sale.

Or $200,185 to be exact. Not bad for a group of determined young professionals, especially considering this was only their third year and in the first two years combined they raised $210,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Dallas. And they all deserve a standing ovation for making it look so easy to play football in the 105+ degree Texas heat this past Saturday night.
Our own Ebby Halliday also braved the heat to toss the coin before the game at Highlander Stadium at Highland Park High School. Ebby Halliday, Realtors served as a Touchdown Sponsor of this year’s game, which ended with Team Blonde taking their third straight win with a final score of 41-13.
A special thank you to our team of Ebby cheerleaders who threw Ebby footballs into the crowd of about 800 throughout the game and our friends from the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee who turned out to take votes for the 100 greatest moments in North Texas football history for their Century in the Making campaign.
While it certainly doesn’t feel like it weather-wise, summer is winding down and for kids, that means one thing – back to school. But before the students hit the books, Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex school districts are busy welcoming their newest teachers and employees. And last week they got a little help from Ebby Associates.
Firewheel/190 office manager Malinda Howell along with Associates Sheila La Torres, Linda Brownlee and Robert Sewell (pictured at the top of this post) welcomed almost 250 new teachers to Garland ISD at the Special Events Center in Garland.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the Metroplex, Southlake office manager Carolyn Rosson and Tina Swenson, vice president and director of Ebby Corporate Development (pictured below with a representative from fellow sponsor Chick-fil-A) welcomed the newest recruits to Southlake’s Carroll ISD as a WE CARE platinum sponsor.
With only a few days remaining before most area schools start, now’s the time to begin your back-to-school shopping if you haven’t already. Don’t forget that this coming weekend, August 20-22 is the annual Texas Tax Free weekend – a great opportunity to stock up on school supplies and clothes.

Some positive real estate news from this morning’s Dallas Morning News. Steve Brown reports that DFW home prices rose 2.1 percent for second quarter 2010, while the nationwide increase was 1.5 percent.
Part of this increase could be attributed to the sharp rise of home sales in DFW’s affluent neighborhoods. The Ebby Halliday Companies participated in several such sales in second quarter, don’t forget Dave Perry-Miller’s $24 million sales week which included an 18,000 square foot spec home on famed Beverly Drive in Highland Park that was the most expensive home sold in North Texas so far this year.
