Ebby Receives Lifetime Achievement Award from Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas

The luncheon is held each fall and recognizes outstanding women leaders and Girl Scouts for their service to the community. Funds raised during Real Girls Real Women Dallas provide the “Gift of Girl Scouting” and support the activities of girls in traditional Girl Scout troops. Over the years, the luncheon has helped to provide the genuine Girl Scout Leadership Experience to almost 40,000 girls throughout northeast Texas.

We ve Got Spirit, Yes We Do

The challenge was simple: in honor of our 65th Anniversary Year, which has been celebrated with many football themed promotions and events thanks to our sponsorship of the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee, each Ebby Sales office was challenged to create a video cheer showcasing their Ebby spirit.

The only rule was that each video had to be filmed with the Flip Video camera provided to each Ebby Sales Manager. Other than that, the sky was the limit on creativity. And we sure do have some creative people – true to Ebby fashion, the end results are quite spectacular. These video “masterpieces” feature surprise celebrity guests like Roger Staubach, Dale Hansen and Randy White, a herd of longhorn cattle, mayors and city officials of various cities, local cheerleaders, drill teams, marching bands and football players, dancing Ebby yard signs, original songs, and appearances by Ebby herself – both literally, and by impersonation, playing an electric ukulele and even showing off her back handspring. See, we told you they were creative.

While the videos were all very different, the underlying theme in each was an incredible sense of pride and an unmatched company culture which can only be described as undeniably Ebby.

That said, now it’s time to declare the Ebby Home Bowl Cheer Champ – and that’s where we need your help.

View each office video at the Ebby Home Bowl Cheer website by clicking the “see video link next to each office name. Once you ve decided which office gets your vote, select the round button by that office and click SUBMIT ENTRY at the bottom of the page. And you can keep supporting your team of choice by coming back to vote up to once per day through November 5.

Let the voting begin and may the best team win.

And BRAVO to all the Ebby offices for your incredible creative work in honor of our 65th Anniversary. Go Ebby! GAME ON!

Fall/Winter 2010 Grand Vie Magazine Comes Alive with Tag Technology

The Fall/Winter 2010 issue of Grand Vie: Luxury in Living magazine made its debut this week, direct mailing to almost 30,000 luxury homes across the DFW Metroplex. As usual, it s filled with some of the most luxurious homes currently on the market from the spectacular University Park estate cover home designed by Wilson McClure and situated on 1.47 park-like acres, to the perfect home for the holidays lake front log home in Grand Lake, Colorado, to an Austin Stone estate property in Preston Hollow with a 175-bottle wine room and outdoor living space. With everything from stately traditional to ultra-contemporary, this edition also features luxury homes in Plano, Frisco, Mansfield, McKinney, Southlake and even Seaside, Florida.

Additionally, this issue introduces an exciting new marketing element, Tag technology. The Ebby Halliday Companies continuously strive to provide our clients with the very best in home marketing, utilizing the most current communication tools. That s why starting in this issue, almost every page features a graphic Tag, that when scanned with a Smartphone Tag Reader, immediately delivers a full photo gallery, property details including room dimensions, current price and school information and direct access to the listing Associate via phone or e-mail. Some even feature property videos. This immediate connection to the online world makes it easier than ever for Grand Vie readers to find instant information on their property of interest.

Curious to see how the Tag technology works? Try it out by following these steps:

1. Download the free Tag Reader to your Smartphone at http://gettag.mobi, then follow the instructions for your phone type.

2. Open the Tag Reader and scan or photograph a Tag on any page in Grand Vie (or the Tag above).

3. Property details, more pictures and agent information will load as a web page where you can explore the property more thoroughly (see examples below).

Tag technology has been extremely popular in Asia and is becoming increasingly popular in the U.S. you may have seen similar Tags in recent issues of Architectural Digest, ads from our friends at Luxury Portfolio Fine Property Collection, and ads from retailers like Pottery Barn and Giorgio Armani. We re very excited about the many other potential uses for this technology to help promote the properties we represent.

Another highlight of this issue is the spotlight on North Texas philanthropy, which focuses on the annual Cattle Baron s Ball. Themed The Great State Fair, the 2010 Ball is scheduled for this Saturday night at the renowned Southfork Ranch. Guest writer and 2010 ball chair, Kristi Sherrill Hoyl, gives all the details of this year s event, as well as the history of the Cattle Baron s Ball, which has become the world s largest fund-raising event for cancer research.

We hope you enjoy the newest issue of Grand Vie: Luxury in Living. If you d like to see a copy now, you can view the full online edition at grandviemagazine.com.

Garland Performing Arts Center Auditorium Named for Ebby Associate Linda Brownlee

In 1945, Ebby Halliday, Realtors was founded on three points of service; service to the client, service to the industry and service to the communities in which we serve. And as we celebrate our 65th year of service, we re proud to spotlight Ebby Associate Linda Brownlee of the Ebby Firewheel/190 office.

Linda was recently recognized by her community for her almost four decades of service to arts in the city of Garland. In appreciation of her work, the main auditorium at the Granville Arts Center in Garland was renamed the Linda Brownlee Auditorium. The name change came with the full support of the Garland City Council.

A longtime supporter of the arts in Garland, Linda served as president of the Garland Cultural Arts Commission for 16 years, was co-founder and first president of the Performing Arts Center Guild in 1982 and was a longtime co-host of the Garland Arts in Action television program. She also played a key role in raising almost $1 million in arts funding before helping to pass the multi-million dollar Arts Center expansion and Plaza Theatre bond items in the late 90 s.

Linda thanked the many volunteers, staff and council members in her gracious acceptance speech, and, luckily for the city, promised that her work is not yet finished. She is pictured at the top of this post with her husband, and fellow Ebby Associate, Woody Brownlee. The photo above is of the Brownlee family at the Garland City Council meeting where the announcement of the Linda Brownlee Auditorium was made. Her daughter and Ebby Firewheel/190 office manager Malinda Brownlee Howell is pictured far right.

Ebby Halliday salutes Linda Brownlee for upholding the high level of community service upon which our company was founded.
