As you know, Ebby Halliday, Realtors is a proud sponsor of the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee, and one of the committee s major initiatives is community service through its SLANT 45 (Service Learning Adventures in North Texas) program. SLANT 45 challenges area elementary school age children to perform 45,000 hours of community service before the big game on February 6, 2011.
The Ebby s Young Professionals Group (EYP) has decided to coordinate a SLANT 45 project of their own with the children who will be attending the soon-to-be-opened Ebby Halliday Elementary School in south Dallas. EYP received a list of ideas from the children themselves and their number one request was to create a bully-free zone at their school.
To fulfill their request, EYP has decided to invite Rachel s Challenge to come to the school with their award winning program. Rachel Scott was the first person killed at Columbine High School on April 20, 1999. After her death her father found six journals and a paper she had written challenging people to go out of their way to show compassion and kindness to start a chain reaction and see how far a little kindness can go. Her life has become the foundation for one of the most life-changing school programs in America.
That’s where you come in. EYP is asking for YOUR help in raising $5,000. The amount of $3,000 is all that is required to bring in Rachel s Challenge, but EYP would also like to support the school and community with a few of their first acts of kindness projects. If you are able, please make a donation, which will start a chain reaction of kindness that will impact generations in this community.
To make your donation, contact Sherry Adams at 972-980-6612 or mail your check, payable to Ebby Halliday, Realtors, to:
