The survey also found that many buyers are now willing to compromise on closing dates, amenities, features, and location attributes when searching for a home.

Ebby Halliday, REALTORS would like to be among the first to welcome Motorola Mobility to the North Texas neighborhood. The company announced yesterday that its new flagship smartphone, the Moto X, will be manufactured in Fort Worth and will bring 2,000 new jobs to the Alliance Corridor.

Motorola Mobility executive Mark Randall said Motorola had lots of other cities and locations to choose from, but Dallas-Fort Worth made sense. Dallas-Fort Worth has a strong history of mobile … The DNA has mobile in it, said Randall.

Motorola Mobility is owned by Google and the new smartphone will be the first designed under Google s ownership. The yet-to-be-revealed MotoX is rumored to have a much different look and feel than other smartphones, and will allow the company to capitalize on rising consumer preference for U.S. manufacturing.

Logistically, far North Fort Worth is the perfect fit for the company, Randall said. Alliance is here. D/FW Airport is 15 minutes away. The I-35 Corridor means we re close to getting the products to our consumers. That s what we want to do.

Motorola s manufacturing partner in the Fort Worth venture is Flextronics, which has already begun hiring. Approximately 150 new jobs at the Alliance facility were posted online as of last night.

Ebby Associate Gives Back to Honor Wounded Veterans

This past weekend former President George W. Bush brought the third-annual Warrior 100K Ride a three-day mountain biking trek to honor service members injured in Afghanistan and Iraq to the well-worn paths at his Prairie Chapel Ranch outside of Waco. There to lend a hand was Ebby Preston Keller Office Associate and volunteer Heidi Loewinsohn.

The opportunity to give back came to Ms. Loewinsohn, shown at left, through her friend Kim Chance, shown at right, who rides mountain bikes with the former president.

This event was purposeful and touching, especially as we observed amputees persevere through pain to accomplish this athletic challenge, Ms. Loewinsohn says. We are so fortunate to have our soldiers make the ultimate sacrifice for their country. What a blessing to have been a part of this weekend hosted by President and Mrs. Bush.

Case-Shiller: Dallas-Area Home Prices Up 6.8 Percent

The Dallas-area continues to see gains in home prices in the closely-watched Standard & Poor s/Case-Shiller Home Price Index.

Dallas-area home prices were up 6.8 percent in March from a year ago in the latest monthly home price comparison. Homes prices were up 7.1 percent in February and 7 percent in January from a year earlier.

Dallas-area home prices are now only about 3 percent below where they were before the recession, according to Case-Shiller s numbers. Prices in the Dallas area have been rising on a year-to-year basis for the past 13 months.

Nationwide, prices were 10.9 percent higher than in March 2012 the biggest increase in the index since 2006.

Home prices in all 20 cities posted annual gains for the third month in a row, says Standard & Poor s David M. Blitzer. Twelve of the 20 saw prices rise at double-digit annual growth.

The largest increase among the 20 cities Case-Shiller tracks was Phoenix with a 22.5 percent home price gain from March 2012. San Francisco prices were up 22.2 percent and Las Vegas had a 20.6 percent increase. The Dallas area never saw the decline in prices those three cities experienced.

According to the US Census Bureau, Frisco and McKinney are among the top 15 fastest-growing cities in the U.S. And, the state s population has risen by 913,642 people since the 2010 census. (Dallas Morning News05/23/2013)

Dallas home prices are up 7.1 percent from a year ago. And there is a less than three-month supply of homes on the market, according to the Case-Shiller Indexes. (Wall Street Journal 05/01/2013)

Texas is No. 1 in job gains, adding more than 326,100 jobs over the past 12 months according to the Texas Workforce Commission. And, Texas unemployment rate of 6.4 percent is well below the national rate of 7.5 percent. (Dallas Morning News 05/18/2013)

So far in 2013, Dallas-Fort Worth area home foreclosure filings have dropped almost 40 percent from the first six months of 2012. The biggest decline in next month s foreclosure postings is in Collin County, where there are 49 percent fewer postings than for June 2012. Dallas County foreclosure filings are down 45 percent.
