Well here we are, we ve all (almost) made it through another week! Whether you’re working, in school, or just out in the summer heat, everyone deserves a good break this weekend. How about something inside that involves relaxing in style and comfort, hours of entertainment, and, best of all, popcorn? What if you could do all of this without even leaving home? Sounds pretty great to us!

Well, these houses, now on the market, could mean that that is possible for you. Today, we re going to look at five media rooms that are irresistable. From tiered rows of seats to sectionals, there s a way to sit back and enjoy the show for everyone.

Our first media room can be found at 6520 Northaven Road in Dallas. It features seven brown, leather recliners on two rows. Ornate carpeting underfoot, framed movie posters, and a huge screen that can be covered with red drapes make this media room a mini, in-home movie theater. At 5323 Swiss Avenue in Dallas, our second home has two- you read that right- two media rooms. You know the saying, one for you, one for me? It s all too true in this home, with one media room in the main house and one in the guesthouse. The pictured guesthouse mini theater has stadium seating for twenty. The in-wall screen is flanked by two statues and sits above a black stage. For more information, contact Hillary Dean at 214-417-5887 or hillarydean@ebby.com or Kay Weeks at 214-676-8230 or kayweeks@ebby.com.

This room has mounted movie posters, theater-like lighting and six brown, leather reclining chairs. Grab some popcorn and a drink and you ve got a great weekend ahead. Contact Kay Weeks at 214-676-8230 or kayweeks@ebby.com to learn more about this great room and the rest of the property.

Fourth on the list is a media room at 8252 Treemont Place in Frisco. This room has an oversized, leather sectional will tons of seats, and each one individually reclines. Add that to an additional recliner and large, moveable cushions, and this room is ready for a movie marathon party. A huge screen is wall-mounted in the center of the room so you won t miss a moment. You won t miss a sound either with the room s surround system. To find out more, contact Debi Leavitt at 972-567-9107 or debileavitt@ebby.com

Of The Day: Eat-In Kitchens

They say, the kitchen is the heart of the home, and the family who eats together, stays together. What better way to take advantage of these two mantras than to combine them, with an eat-in kitchen? Eat-in kitchens come in all shapes and sizes, from breakfast nooks to large islands with pull up counters. Whether you re a fabulous chef or a take-out fiend, it s always great to have a place to sit and enjoy company in the kitchen.

Because eat-in kitchens can vary so much, we ve chosen to put the spotlight on four different homes and feature two pictures for each one. Anyway, who doesn’t like more pictures? But, if you d like to see even more or other homes with eat-ins, just follow the links below.

Our first eat-in, found at 909 Stone Cottage Lane in McKinney, is a double whammy. It features a pull up island with seating for three and a separate, larger table with seating for four. Both of these areas are lit by fabulous chandeliers and instantly make this kitchen feel comforting and inviting. If you d like to know more, contact Stacy Solomon at 214-207-1236 or stacysolomon@ebby.com.

At 9925 Jourdan Way in Dallas, the second eat-in kitchen also has two places for dining and socializing with the chef. The center island features a raised counter for seating with stools, and close by is a unique banquette with booth and chair seating for six. This banquette creates a divide between this amazing kitchen and a computer nook, making this space one of a kind. To learn more, contact The Morguloff Team at 214-354-5266 or morguloffteam@ebby.com.

The next eat-in is customized and upgraded to the nines. At 611 Dove Creek Road in Bartonville, this kitchen features a large, wooden table with seating for six. Lit by a charming chandelier and with views of the outdoors, this eat-in space is elegant and welcoming among all the kitchen s amenities. To get more information, contact Donna Robichaux and Associates at 972-355-5639 or robichaux@ebby.com.

Our final featured eat-in, at 5169 Monterey Drive in Frisco, is another with two dining options. The second of two island features a raised bar with seating for three, and a separate round table provides seating for five. Both of these are part of a gorgeous kitchen with high-end appliances and finishes. Contact the Paulette Green Group at 972-733-5277 or pg@paulettegreene.com for more information.

Juliette Fowler Communities and Ebby Halliday Announce New Transitional Home For Young Women

This morning, a press conference was held to announce the construction of a new home, to open in 2014, for young women who age out of foster care. The “Ebby House” will be named after our own Ebby Halliday. Located in the Juliette Fowler Communities, It will serve as a transitional boarding home and educational environment for girls ages 18-22.

“I have always enjoyed being a part of new and exciting projects- and here I am today right in the middle of something new and very exciting!” said Ebby. “I am honored to have my name associated with this important service project. Knowing that ‘The Ebby House’ will be a place for young girls to reach their potential, is just wonderful. Maurice and I followed a saying, ‘do something good for someone every day,’ and now with this special place we will continue to do just that and it makes me very happy!”

In attendance were many Ebby Halliday top executives, managers, and associates. Also there were news channels 4 (Fox), 5 (NBC), 8 (ABC) and 11 (CBS), and The Dallas Morning News.

We couldn’t be more proud or excited to support this wonderful cause.

Open House: Ebby Meets Tony (and Charlie)

Yesterday, Ebby associate Beth Douglas held an open house in Starwood. At first it was just like any other open house, cookies, cheese and a tour of the home, but you’re missing some background information. This house wasn’t any other house, it was the home of NFL Hall of Famer and Hesiman Trophy winner Tony Dorsett. AND, as a surprise, Ebby Halliday was on the way to see the house herself. Ebby walked in to greeted by an overjoyed and surprised group of visitors and immediately walked up to Tony.

“The queen of real estate, in my house,” said Tony, “it is so nice to meet you.”

“Hi, Tony!” Ebby said, with wide eyes and a huge smile.

Everyone toured the beautiful home and became fast friends with Tony’s dog, Charlie. At most eight inches in height, Charlie stole Ebby’s heart from the beginning. Once she picked him up she never wanted to put him down…just don’t tell Ebby’s cat, Lucy.

By the end of the afternoon, Ebby and Tony were hugging and chatting. He even gave her a signed ball from the 2004 Thanksgiving Classics game for which he made the coin toss. Needless to say, Ebby was thrilled and, on the way home, was making plans to have the football placed in a special display case for her permanent collection.

Top Producer’s Luncheon at the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek: 6 Associates, 604 Homes Sold, and $310 Million in Sales

Tuesday, June 12th, Ebby Halliday held a luncheon for the Top Producers of 2012. We know this may sound like a delayed celebration, but our agents are busy, busy (in the best way) and it was a great excuse to get together for a mid-year update.

This 2012 Companywide Top Producers were:

Top Group: Cindy O Gorman, from our Preston Keller Office

Top Group Runner Up: Paulette Greene, from our Frisco Office

Top Individual: Dee Evans, from out Rockwall Office

Top Individual Runner Up- Pam Boronski, from our Plano/Willow Bend Office

Top Team: Martha Morguloff & Danna Morguloff-Hayden, from our Preston Keller Office

Together, these six Top Producers sold 604 homes for a total sales volume of almost $310 million.

The Top Producers were joined by their managers and a few key leaders at Ebby Halliday; Mary Frances Burleson, Betty Misko, Ron Burgert, Randall Graham, and, of course, Ebby herself. Stephanie Pfeffer, Executive Vice President of Luxury Portfolio International, was a special guest.

Pam Boronski commented on the recent status of Dallas real estate market saying, sales have been phenomenal as we see buyers re-evaluating their investment dollars and investing in a real estate portfolio, which means purchasing secondary homes as investments and rental properties.

The luncheon was held at the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek, which was the perfect way to thank our associates for all their hard work. To be a Top Producer really says something about the character and loyalty of these agents, and all of us at Ebby Halliday say a big congratulations to them all! We can t wait to see what our associates do in 2013!

Of The Day: McKinney Is A Must-Visit

In 2012, Money Magazine ranked a Texas city as No. 2 on their list of Best Places to Live in America. Can you guess what that city was? If you read the title of this post, it should be pretty easy. McKinney! Just a 35 minute drive from Dallas, the city of McKinney has received multiple accolades over the years from Forbes, Best Life Magazine, CNN Money and more.

With a population of more than 141,000 [McKinney] is one of the fastest-growing cities in America, according to the city s website.

The spirit of community and friendship is alive and well in McKinney, which is also home to a host of fun events coming up this summer.

A parade, family festival and car show will be held in Historic Downtown McKinney during the day. If you already have plans for the 4th, or you just love live music, head to Towne Lake Park for Jammin in June Music in the Park. This Thursday marks the last show of this June series and will feature The King Rocks. If you re an Elvis fan, get ready to party because this band is a bona fide Elvis tribute band, starring Carleton Hurdle as Elvis. The band will play from 7:30 to 9 p.m. and it s free!

Not a party animal but still want to get involved with the McKinney community? The McKinney Public Library is hosting a 2013 Summer Reading Program for preschool, school-age, families, and teens. Reading lists are provided for a range of ages, and the library also has story time kits. Of The Day: Glorious Gardens

There are so many things one can do to the inside of their home to make it feel comfortable and well kept, but there’s a lot that can be done to make your home welcoming on the outside too. Tall tress and lush, beautiful lawns and gardens don t just pop up over night. These take time, dedication, and hard work to grow and maintain, which is why we thought we d pay homage to a few today.

When selling a home, curb appeal and a backyard lined with soaring trees can make a huge difference. It can draw buyers in and catch the eye of passerby s. Having large trees in your yard can also help save on energy costs, by keeping your home in the shade during hot summer months, among other things.

So, today we ve picked five properties that have gardens and yards we think are full of inspiration and are fabulous accents to their homes.

The first home is found at 811 N Shore Drive. There is beautiful landscaping in the front and back of this home. Lined with trimmed hedges, large trees, and oversized planters, the front entrance of this home immediately draws you in. The backyard is an urban oasis. There are multiple pools surrounded by shrubbery of all sizes, giving the yard depth and creating an amazing foreground for the home. If you d like to know more, contact Lee Conte-Vaughn at 972-355-5686 or leecontevaughn@ebby.com.

On 1712 Riviera Drive, our second home also features trimmed hedges and trees that add color and interest, which amps up its curb appeal. The backyard features two covered arbors, one in vibrant yellow and the other in bright purple. The second of these is a walk-through lined with lush hedges and tall shrubbery. All of this surrounds an excellently kept lawn, pool, and putting green. For more on this home, contact The O Gorman Group at 972-715-0190 or theogormangroup@ebby.com.

5403 Willow Wood Lane

Our third property, at 5403 Willow Wood Lane, has beautiful, thriving trees in the front yard. These are immediately noticeable upon seeing the property. They perfectly frame the front walkway that leads to double front doors. This, paired with the flowers and low, green hedges, make this front yard the perfect invitation to come inside. For additional information, contact Sophia Tolk at 972-333-8855 or sophiatolk@aol.com.

The front and back yards of our fourth home, at 1352 Estella Way, are both pristinely manicured. The front yard features landscaping that guides you along the entrance path to the double front doors, which are flanked by large potted plants and small trees. Make your way through the house to the outside, and it just gets better. This backyard has two major structures that are dripping in lights, and a variety of shrubs, with a lush line of trees as a backdrop. To learn more, contact The Cindy Ruppert Team at 817-410-5469 or cindyruppert@ebby.com.

At 2216 Forest Creek, our final property today also has front landscaping to die for. Trees of all sizes and colors fill this yard and bring the eye right to the centerpiece, a wonderful tall fountain. Stone walls and a charming path also give this front yard definition and instant appeal. The backyard is home to another fountain, more accent shrubs and flowers, a pool, and a multitude of tall green trees for privacy. For more information, contact Carol Collins at 214-533-9685 or carolcollins@ebby.com.

Past winners are Founder and Chairman of the Board Ebby Halliday, the first woman to receive the award, and the late Posie Willess, who like Ebby was a trailblazer for women in the residential real estate industry. Of the thousands of residential real estate companies in the United States, The Ebby Halliday Companies is the only one to have been honored with three NAR Distinguished Service Awards.

The award recognizes members of the National Association of REALTORS® who have shown exceptional meritorious service for at least 25 years. Out of approximately 1 million REALTORS®, no more than two are recognized with the award each year.

NAR established the Distinguished Service Award in 1979 to honor REALTORS® who have made outstanding contributions to the real estate industry and are recognized as leaders in their local communities. The award is considered the highest honor an NAR member may receive; recipients must be active at the local, state and national association levels.

“I am honored to be recognized with the Distinguished Service Award,” says Ms. Burleson. “I have been fortunate to serve a company founded by the legendary Ebby Halliday, whose impact on the residential real estate industry is unmatched. Our Associates, who seek every day to follow Ebby’s example of service, are the basis of our company’s success.”

Ms. Burleson started with Ebby Halliday, REALTORS® in 1958 as a temporary receptionist.

“My husband said that I had looked over the garden wall when I started working for Ebby Halliday and that I was never the same again,” says Ms. Burleson. “Ebby has mentored and helped many, many people to find their career path . . . and I was one of the fortunate ones.”

Today, Ms. Burleson is president and CEO of the Ebby Halliday Companies, which includes 30 offices, two real estate brands, three service companies, and approximately 1,500 Associates covering more than 12,000 square miles of North Texas. TheDallas-based firm is the largest independently owned residential real estate company in Texas and ranks 12th in the nation. The 68-year-old company participated in approximately 16,000 property transactions in 2012 with a sales volume of $4.8 billion.

“Ebby Halliday, REALTORS® was founded on three principles of service: service to the client, service to the industry and service to the community,” Ms. Burleson says. “I am extremely proud to be a part of an organization that places service to others at the forefront of everything we do.”

The National Association of REALTORS®, “The Voice for Real Estate,” is America’s largest trade association, representing 1 million members involved in all aspects of the residential and commercial real estate industries. For more information, visit realtor.org.
