We’ve got two exciting new things to tell you about the art scene in Dallas today!
1. On February 8, Deep Ellum steps it up by adding a brand new art gallery to its scene. The Rachel Nash Gallery will host its grand opening party from 8-10 p.m. at its location at 2646 Main St. in Deep Ellum. This space will be “dedicated to connecting emerging artists with the local Dallas community.” Deep Ellum, probably due to it’s dedicated support of local breweries and business owners, has seen major growth over the past few years. We feel it’s safe to assume that the addition of an art gallery will only further this positive growth. To learn more about the Rachel Nash Gallery, click here.
2. The Nasher Sculpture Center has 18 new works of art! We talked recently about the Eye, and we’re sure everyone’s heard about the Nasher’s big Xchange program. These were two big ventures for the center in 2013, but they’re not the only newsworthy things that happened last year. The Nasher was also the recipient of 18 pieces of art by various artists that are now part of the permanent collection. We feel that it’s a true gift to live in a city with such a love for art, and we can’t wait to see what the center has planned for these recent acquisitions. We know for certain that two of the new pieces will be included at an overview of David Bates’ career at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth that begins next week.
