The Rustic: Sunday, Mar. 1, join in on a oh-so-cajun crawfish boil and live music from Jack Ingram.

The Social House: Head Uptown for Fat Tuesday and Mardi Gras celebrations until Mar. 4 for crawfish pasta, étouffée, and  jambalaya.

Dallas-area Home Prices Hit New Peak

r

Dallas-area home prices hit a new peak in December and for the first time registered a double-digit gain year over year, according to the just-released Standard & Poor’s/Case-Shiller Home Price Index.

Prices of pre-owned homes in the area were up 0.2 percent in December from November, the S&P/Case-Shiller report said, and up 10.2 percent from the previous December.

Dallas was one of just six cities to show one-month gains. The others were Las Vegas, Miami, San Francisco, Tampa, Fla., and Washington, D.C.

Dallas-area home prices have increased year-over-year for 22 straight months. Local home prices are up more than 5 percent since before the recession.

3408 Purdue University Park

5600 Craddock Circle Plano

14205 Hughes Lane Dallas

6775 Saxton Ave. Frisco

If you’re a a chef or you’ve ever boiled a pot of water, you’ll love the newest trend we’ve found in many of our new listings.

Picture this: you put a pot in the sink, fill it all the way up, and then lug it across your kitchen to the stove, all the while trying to avoid slipping in the water you’re sloshing onto the floor. Have you found yourself in this situation before? Well, say hello to the over-the-stove pot filler. They’re popping up all over the place, and they’ll add so much simplicity to your life in the kitchen.

Use it to fill pots, tea kettles, or to add a splash of water to your stove-top recipes. They’re also useful if you’re got a little chef-in-the-making who loves to help out in the kitchen.

As with most things kitchen-related, they come in many different styles and materials, as seen above. We love this trend and hope that it’s here to stay. What do you think? Comment below and let us know!

Tom Thumb To Leave HP Village

Tom Thumb Leaving HP Village

News broke Friday that Tom Thumb will be leaving its Highland Park Village location in the next 12 months. This move has been rumored for a while now, but, until Friday, there had been no official statement made.

With no room for expansion at this location, it’s not surprising that the store will be closing its doors. At just 18,500 square feet, this store is much smaller than the average store size of 46,000 square feet.

We’ve also we’ve learned that Tom Thumb‘s parent company, Safeway, which is based in California, is considering selling the entire company. But, never fear, President Paul McTavish said that Tom Thumb will look for a larger location that will still cater to the Highland Park area and its customers.
