This weekend is ALL about live music with a little football sprinkled in. From Aerosmith to Nickel Creek and the SEC to the Cowboys, if you’re a music or football fan, you need to check out what’s going on.
6th Annual DFW SEC Kickoff Party: DFW SEC fans are hosting their annual party-of-the-year at Community Beer Co. tonight, Thursday, August 21, to celebrate the beginning of another great season of SEC Football.
Music Thursday: Check out this week’s local artist showcase at Klyde Warren Park, Rania Khoury and the Stone Wolves.
The Wizard of Oz: Celebrate the 75th anniversary of this ultimate classic at the Texas Theater on Friday, August 22 with a simultaneous showing of Dark Side of the Moon.
Aerosmith: American Airlines will host legends Aerosmith, Slash, and Myles Kennedy & the Conspirators all in one place on Friday.
Nickel Creek: Country/bluegrass fans of the 2000’s are invited to welcome back the band after a seven year break. On Friday, they’ll take the stage at the Majestic Theater to celebrate their new album.
Panic! At The Disco: The rock band will play Friday night at South Side Ballroom.
Design District Market Festival: Saturday, August 23, from noon-5pm, you’ll find jewelry, clothing, and art by local vendors at this indoor/outdoor market. There will also be food trucks, free drinks, live music, and the return of the Dallas Contemporary Dumpster Pool.
North Texas Fair & Rodeo: This event kicked off on the 15th and goes through Saturday. There’s live music, great food, stock shows, and more!
Sarah Jaffe: This Denton native has opened for Norah Jones and recorded a song with Eminem. Now she’s back to celebrate her third album, Don’t Disconnect, which dropped August 19, with a show on Saturday at the Majestic Theater.
One Direction: Sunday, August 24, is a big day for pop music fans in Dallas. The British pop sensation band, also known as One D, will take over AT&T Stadium for their “Where We Are Tour.”
Judy Collins: She has vocals and acoustics that have inspired audiences for generations. Now you can see her live at the Granada on Sunday.
Hottest Half & 10k: Starting and finishing at Community Beer Co. in Dallas, this run through town most definitely will not lack refreshments. Join the crowd on Sunday and get your medal/beer opener at the finish line.
Cowboys: Don’t forget to tune-in to watch the Cowboys at Dolphins game on Sunday at 6pm!
The Phantom of The Opera: Through Sunday, experience one of the most famous Broadway plays at the Winspear Opera House. With a cast and orchestra of 52 people, this is one of the largest shows currently on tour.
Tango in the Park: Revel in the romance of Argentine tango music and dancing under the stars at Klyde Warren Park on Sunday. There will be Tango lessons with Dallas masters, a dance performance, and a DJ.
Summer Dollar Days: The Trinity River Audubon Center is offering $1 admission while summer lasts. It’s the perfect opportunity to explore this thriving part of Dallas and spend a day in the great outdoors.
August Dollar Days: Admission is just $1 at the Dallas Arboretum all month long. It may be hot, but the gardens and water pads help keep temperatures down.
