Good luck choosing between all of the awesome food & drink events this week, because the calendar is packed! From a dinner served by a Cowboys running back to free guacamole to a bourbon and brisket festival, there’s an event to satisfy every craving. Plus, don’t miss out on the latest restaurant openings, closings, and change ups.


Food Truck Schedule: Here’s where to find your favorite meals-on-wheels this week.


Tuesdays at The Mansion: Tonight, Tuesday, September 16, the Mansion’s weekly event will feature Legacy whiskey and live music by the Phil Pritchett Duo.


Mexican Independence Day Celebrations: Komali is celebrating tonight with a tequila tasting and authentic Mexican street food cooked outside the restaurant by chef Julio Peraza. San Salvaje and chef Stephan Pyles are celebrating with a special menu that includes pozole rojo stew with pork chicharrones among other speciality dishes and tequila cocktails.


Free Guacamole at Iron Cactus: In celebration of National Guacamole Day, Iron Cactus will have free tableside guacamole tonight when you show a picture of guacamole from their Facebook page (link). Limit 1 per table at all locations during lunch and dinner.


Wine Chat with Michael Flynn: The former Wine Director at the Mansion and three-time nominee for the James Beard Foundation will host one of his famous Wine Chats tonight at Veritas.


Addison Oktoberfest: From tonight to Sunday, Sept. 21, you can go all out German at Addison Circle Park. For four days, there will be German entertainers, yodeling, sausage, sauerkraut, and beer to fulfill all your Oktoberfest dreams. Thursday and Friday, the festival begins at 6pm, but on Saturday and Sunday you can start the fun at noon.


Cheese 101: Scardello is hosting a basics class on Wednesday, Sept. 17, that will teach you everything you need to know. From how it’s made to distinguishing between different flavors, you’ll leave the event with a new found appreciation for cheese.


Dallas Salsa Fest: Saturday, Sept. 20, join in the celebration of “one of Texas’ greatest contributions to the world of food: chips and salsa.” Deep Ellum Outdoor Market will be filled with live music, local beer, and local vendors as you taste your way through and vote for your favorite salsa in Dallas.


2nd Annual Beer, Bourbon, and Brisket Festival: If that’s not a triple threat, we don’t know what is. Head to Panther Island Pavilion in Fort Worth on Saturday for tasty food, and drink alongside live music.


The Great Texas Food Truck Rally: Sunday, Reverchon Park will host all of Dallas’ most delicious food trucks for a day of local food, live music, and a beer garden with all proceeds going to Executives in Action.


Pop Up Pork Dinner: Sunday, Lucia sous chefs Justin Holt and Mike Gibson will host their second pork-centric dinner at Oak Cliff Social Club. $20 gets you roasted whole Ossabaw hog and fresh sausage with sides and beer.


Dinner at Home with Phil Romano: For $500 you can join select guests for hors d’oeuvres and a six-course meal at Phil Romano’s home on Sunday. The meal will be prepared by the chefs at Nick and Sam’s and 3015 @ Trinity Groves, Samir Dhurandhar and Sharon Van Meter.


Celebrity Waiter Night: If you love the Cowboys and great food, head to Ocean Prime on Monday, Sept. 22 and have your food served to you by Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray and his teammates. This is the second annual event presented by Albertsons and includes a three course dinner, wine, and a live auction. Proceeds will benefit the DeMarco Murray Foundation, which supports Dallas children in need.



Cake Bar: 16 kinds of cake, quick breads, cookies, and ice cream will be available at Trinity Grove’s newest desert bar and retail shop, which opens on Thursday, Sept. 18. The business is owned an operated by Tracy German, a home cook whose decadent creations caught on like wildfire and could no longer be contained to her kitchen.


East Hampton Sandwich Co. in Fort Worth: After two years in Dallas, the popular sandwich shop is celebrating by opening its newest location in Fort Worth today. After success in the Park Cities and Plano, the third location will be at 1605 S. University Drive.


Eater’s 38 Essential Dallas Restaurant Recommendations: The quarterly recommendations are in.


Kitchen LTO Winners: Blythe Beck will be the next chef to take over at Kitchen LTO come October. She’s made a career for herself at the Mansion and as an apprentice to Dean Fearing. Artist Salma Gottfried will change up the restaurants interior with her abstract architectural visual interpretations.


Park Tavern Closing: Yesterday, the restaurant located in the Shops at Park Lane closed.


Viet Bites: Last week the second location of this Vietnamese favorite opened in Denton. Their unique menu includes chicken and pork dishes shaved right off their vertical rotisserie broilers.
