Today marks the official First Day of Autumn, so it’s no wonder this week is overflowing with dining and drink options. From beer and wine dinners to Oktoberfest celebrations to a champagne truck, DFW is chock full of fall fun.



Oktoberfest Beer Dinner: Capitol Pub is hosting a five-course, beer-paired dinner tonight, September 23, featuring Hofbraü brews from Munich. The menu includes small plates like assorted German cheeses and sausages, beer cheese soup with a soft pretzel, sausage fritters, veal schnitzel, and a ganache and cherry stuffed cupcake.


Metro Diner Turns 50: On Wednesday, Sept. 24, Metro Dinner is celebrating 50 years by rolling back prices to the way they were in 1964. A hamburger will set you back 65 cents and a chicken-fried steak with fries and Texas toast is a whopping $1.95.


Saint Arnold Beer Dinner: Saint Arnold Brewing Company and Libertine Bar are pairing up to bring you a five-course, beer-paired meal on Wednesday. Offerings include a sweet potato egg pasta, chicken sausage, alligator, venison, and a pear tart.


Wine Dinner at Bridge Bistro: If you’d rather experience a wine-paired meal on Wednesday, chef Joel Harloff is putting on a Chef’s Table Wine Dinner paired with wines from Oak Cliff Cellars. Offerings include pan seared sea scallops, herb brined game hen, cherry-thyme braised brisket, and a summer wine bread pudding.


Market After Dark: Every Thursday, experience The Shed at Dallas Farmers Market, which is open late for drinks and shopping from 6 to 9p.m.


Cuatro Años at Urban Taco McKinney: In celebration of four years at this location, Urban Taco is offering complimentary margaritas and beers along with new fall specials like empanadas de pastor and pork belly chicharron tacos on Thursday.


Oktoberfest Fort Worth: Panther Island Pavilion continues its festival streak this weekend with Fort Worth’s take on Oktoberfest- think German authenticity with a Texas spin. The event takes place from Thursday to Saturday, Sept. 27 and includes German food, music, dancing, drinking, dachshund races, runs and a bike ride, and more.


Veuve Clicquot at Savor: The Clicquot Mail Truck is pulling into Dallas this weekend. On Saturday it’s popping bottles of their famous champagne at Savor from 5 to 8p.m. There will also be oversized Jenga games and a bottle toss. If you can’t make Saturday work, you can catch the truck at Hotel Zaza on Sunday from 1 to 4p.m.


Foodiepalooza: The East Dallas Boys & Girls Club Advisory Council is putting on its 5th annual night of food, wine, and live music on Thursday at Times Ten Cellars. The annual event will feature special guest chef John Tesar of Spoon Bar & Kitchen and Knife, music by Chris Austin Martinez, nationally renown pasty chef Katie Kennedy, and chef Grant Morgan of the Ranch at Las Colinas. There will also be live and silent auctions.


Greek Food Festival of Dallas: Friday, Sept. 25 to Sunday, Sept. 28, dive into the fun and tastiness of Greek culture at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Food, live music, dancing, and assorted Greek goods will all make this event one to remember.


State Fair of Texas: It’s back on Friday! Take on signature corn dogs, this year’s fried foods, and everything else amazing that comes along with the State Fair experience from Sept. 26 to Oct. 19.


Grapevine Brewery Beer Dinner: Cook Hall and Grapevine Brewery are offering a five-course, beer-paired dinner on Friday. The menu includes pork, red and white endive salad, roasted organic chicken, roasted venison, and an apple and pecan sticky bun.


Taste America 2014: Dallas is lucky to experience a night of culinary stars and unforgettable dining on Friday featuring a menu created by James Beard Award Winers Patrick O’Connell and Stephan Pyles. The reception will also feature tastings by five more of Dallas’ finest chefs. Saturday, there will be cooking demonstrations, cookbook signings, tastings, and more at Sur La Table.


Oktoberfest 5K: Get your exercise in on Saturday morning and finish the day with craft beer and live polka music in a biergarten. The run will begin and end at Rahr & Sons Brewing Company and is presented by Discover Brewtopia. If you participate you also get a a branded pint glass and a dry fit t-shirt.


Abacus’ 15th Anniversary Weekend: The McKinney Ave. restaurant is celebrating 15 years of success in Dallas with a weekend of events. Saturday, there’s a Past and Present dinner featuring former Abacus chefs Tre Wilcox and Omar Flores and current chefs Kenth Rathbun and Chris Patrick. You know dinner’s going to be good with all of these guys in the kitchen together. On Sunday there’s party featuring food and craft cocktails along with live cooking and mixology demonstrations .


Standard Pour Pig Pick’n & Pig Skin Party: Sunday, head to the popular Uptown spot for a special night of food, music, and football in honor of the Cowboys vs. Saints game.



Blind Butcher’s New Dessert: The Lower Greenville spot has introduced a dessert spin on the Canadian favorite, poutine. Churro fries are substituted for potato fries, the traditional gravy is replaced by a brown butter caramel sauce, and house made marshmallows infused with beer and bacon top off the savory new dish.


Kate Weiser Chocolate: Trinity Groves’ newest chocolate shop was an instant hit and it’s about to get even more popular. The spot is now offering fall flavors with pumpkin, maple-bourbon, and orange-fig macaroon options and chai tea and pecan-butterscotch ice creams.

Quarter Bar Extends Hours: The McKinney Ave. spot is now open Monday-Friday from 11a.m. to 2a.m and Saturday-Sunday from 10a.m. to 2a.m.


Spoon Tasting Menus: The Preston Center restaurant will now offer a tasting menu only format from Tuesdays to Thursdays. Options include a five-coure, eight-course and chef’s tasting menu.


VH: The manager and chef at Bistro 31 have both left to open a new American restaurant in Oak Cliff named VH. Victor Hugo and chef Eric Brandt invite you to “enjoy locally sourced food and craft brews, signature cocktails and become part of VH’s family.” The menu will feature burgers, a bourbon filet, green chile hummus, sweet potato Johnny cakes, salads, and more. The official opening is tomorrow, Sept. 24.


Zoli’s Gluten Free Pizza: For those of you looking for a gluten free option at this Dallas favorite, Zoli’s has announced pizzas with french fry crust. Yes, you read that right.
