DFW breweries highlight this edition of Food & Beverage News. They won medals last weekend and this week they’re hosting some awesome events. We also have some interesting news about new restaurant openings and closings. Check it all out below.

 

Events:

Food Truck Schedule: Here’s where you can find your favorite meals-on-wheels this week in Dallas.

 

Beer & Plate Pairing: Rahr & Sons Brewing is having a beer and plate pairing hosted by Stephan Beaumont tonight, Tuesday, October 7, at Flying Saucer in Garland. Beaumont, who is the co-author of The World Beer Atlas and The Pocket Beer Guide, will be there to talk about beers and sign books.

 

Houndstooth Coffee Brewing Class: The new coffee shop on Henderson Ave. is hosting an event to teach you how to brew great coffee at home. The class will focus on the Kalita Wave brewing method and begins at 7:30pm on Wednesday, Oct. 8.

 

Revolver Beer Dinner at Grace: Thursday, Oct. 9, Chef Blaine Staniford and master brewer Cicerone Grant Wood are teaming up for a five-course dinner featuring Thai-style curried catfish, stout-braised veal cheek, and spiced carrot cake paired with selected beers.

 

Local Brewers Summit: Author Stephan Beaumont will join five local breweries on Friday, Oct. 10 in a prelude to BeerFeast 2014. There will be six special beer selections and small plates as well as a post-summit book signing. The event is being held at Flying Saucer Fort Worth.

 

The Dinner Detective Dallas: An interactive murder mystery dinner show takes place Friday at Crowne Plaza. Actors will be hidden among customers throughout the four-course meal, making everyone a part of this thrilling evening.

 

Beerfeast 2014: The 9th-Annual festival in Fort Worth will feature over 40 breweries and 60 craft beers selected by Flying Saucer Drought Emporium’s experts.  The event runs from 1-7pm on Saturday, Oct. 11.

 

News:

Chipotle Vegan/Vegetarian-Friendly Options: Next Tuesday, Oct. 13, Chipotles around DFW will roll out vegan and vegetarian-friendly sofritas.

 

DFW Breweries Take Home Medals: This past weekend racked up the medals at the 2014 Great American Beer Festival awards in Denver. Grapevine Craft Brewery’s Sir Williams’ English Brown Ale nabbed gold medal in the English Brown Ale category and Peticolas Brewing Company’s 2012 Great Scot! won first in the Aged Beer category.  Community Beer Company took home a gold for their Public Ale in the Extra Special Bitter Category and a bronze in the Coffee Beer category for their Ascension brew. Rahr & Sons Brewing Co. also took home a bronze medal in the German-Style Doppelbock or Eisbock division for their The Regulator. Kenny’s Burger Joint in Plano: Kenny’s Burger Joint is now open in Plano’s Lakeside Market. It is Kenny Bowers’ fifth restaurant and second branch of Kenny’s Burger Joint, the first of which is in Frisco.

 

Mason Bar Closing: The Uptown bar will close on October 18th with a grand finale event. After 3 years in the neighborhood, it will be replaced with a residential hi-rise.

 

New York Sub Closing: After 40 years in business on Asbury St. in the Park Cities, New York Sub will close its doors on Sunday, Oct. 12. It will be replaced by a new branch of Project Pie.

 

Vertskepbap: The Austin-baed kebab chain, lovingly-known as Verts, will open it’s first DFW location in Addison in October.
