Feature We Love: Open Floor Plan

CM Open Floor Plan lg

The transition into open floor plans is one of the biggest changes we’ve seen in housing trends over the past few years. While some still prefer a traditional layout, with divided rooms, the open floor plan has been widely adopted because it offers an entirely new way of living.

Homeowners and builders love this trend because it’s ideal for entertaining, allows for seamless design and an incorporated style throughout, provides panoramic views, and it’s great for keeping an eye on family members in other rooms. Additionally, open floor plans have an easy flow and can make a home feel much larger.

Check out the various ways people are making use of this popular trend all over DFW.

Love Where You Live: Exterior

Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone! Today is the final day of our Love Where You Live series and we want to thank you for following along as we explored the rooms that inspire all of us to love where we live. On the final day we are talking about the home exteriors. Driving up to your home at the end of the day should be a relaxing and welcoming experience. An exterior that just “feels like home” is the ultimate realization of loving where you live.

Love Where You Live: Exterior

We knew we had to pick something special for the final day, so we went with timeless and classic. The home at 8 Robledo Drive is a French Traditional decorated in understated French Country style. It just feels right, from the smooth, cream stucco and gabled roof to the mature, soaring trees and circular driveway. This home is the manifestation of elegance and sophistication. We’re relaxed just looking at it and can’t imagine the joy of getting to return home to it each and every day.

Overall, this home has 3 bedrooms, 5 1/2 baths, 5,819 sq. ft. and a 3-car garage. It is located in the exclusive gated community of Los Arboles and was designed by Tie Davis, with construction by Cy Barcus and landscaping by Naud Burnett. It’s a gem and a haven from front door to back porch. Take a minute and get the full tour, here.

Love Where You Live: Game Room

We saved this feature just for Friday. A game room is the perfect place to watch the game, relax, and enjoy the weekend. It’s a space for family and friends, adults and kids to have a some fun without ever leaving home.

Love Where You Live: Game Room

The game room at 1029 Abbey Lane in Mclendon Chisholm, TX is an ideal addition to our Love Where You Live series because it brings so much together in one room. This space offerers a pool table, an area to play cards, recliner seating in front of the TV, a fireplace, and a full bar- with another TV! Obviously, this room is just as beautiful as it is functional thanks to the wood trimmed, vaulted ceiling, crown molding, handscraped hardwood flooring and tall stone fireplace. We’re jealous of anyone who gets to look forward to a weekend in this game room!

To give you the full picture, this room belongs to a 5-bedroom, four-bath, and two half-bath home with 6,628 sq. ft. of living space. The backyard is an oasis, with an outdoor TV, four fire pits, and a saltwater pool and spa with a built-in table and seating. Did we mention all of the covered outdoor space as well? Love Where You Live: Entry

We’re only two short days away from Valentine’s Day! If this Love Where You Live feature doesn’t get your heart pumping, we’re not sure what will. Today, let’s talk about your home’s entry. It’s the first impression that guests get when they step inside, and it sets the the tone for look and feel of the rooms that lie beyond it. An entry doesn’t have to be dramatic, but it should be warm and welcoming.

Love Where You Live: Entry

The entry we chose comes to use from the listing at 12541 Renoir Lane in Dallas. It does have a little flare for the dramatic, but we think it’s just the right amount. The staircase seems to be pulled like clay right out of the ceiling. It has a lovely, slow curve that perfectly accentuates the gorgeous chandelier that hangs at its center. The colors and materials used in the space and the open feeling that draws you into the home all add instant charm and an inviting feeling. We love the plantation shutters flanking the wood and etched glass front door, the thick crown molding, the rich hardwoods, and the fine ironwork.

Of course, this entry is just the beginning of a wonderful 5-bedrooms, 5 1/2-bath, 6,414 sq. ft. home. The home features three stories with elevator access from the basement with a wine cellar, to the kitchen, to the bedrooms upstairs. If we could see this one in person, we know we would be wowed! Lucky for us, and for you, there’s an open house this Sunday, Feb. 15, from 1 to 3 p.m. If you can’t stop by, you should still take the digital tour, here.
