Since Cinco de Mayo is today and Mother’s Day is on Sunday, this week’s post centers on big events for Friday and Saturday. Check out the hottest food & drink events, plus the latest news on DFW openings.


Wednesday, May 6:

Worlds Apart, Brought Together: This event, hosted by the Dallas Chapter of the International Wine & Food Society, will take you on a tasting tour of the world by pairing five wines with atypical cheese courses.


Friday, May 8:

The Greek Garden Cooking Class: Learn to cook as the Greeks do, with a focus on fruits and vegetables. Dishes include zucchini keftedes with feta & dill, lentil soup with sage & chili pepper, stuffed tomatoes with rice, classic spinach pyllo pie, and baked apples with spices & walnuts.


TACA Lexus Party on the Green: Celebrity chefs from DFW and around the world will compete to take home the Golden Skillet based on your votes. There will also be a silent auction, live music, and libations at the event held at the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek.


Wine Spectator’s Grand Tour: Get the opportunity to taste spectacular wines from more than 200 of the world’s finest wineries alongside a light buffet. The event will be held at the Hyatt Regency Dallas.


Saturday, May 9:

Chocolate, Cheese, and Bubbles Class: What can be better than this trio? Scardello will host a class exploring all three delights with interesting pairings.


Crawfish Boil and Gumbo Cook-Off: The Women’s Alliance of McKinney will host a day of food and family-friendly fun at Stonebridge Ranch Country Club.


Date Night: Capri Cooking Class: Learn to cook dishes inspired by the island flavors of Capri in this hands-on class at Sur la Table.


Untapped Festival 2015: This year’s beer fest features more than 84 breweries, more than 250 beers, and live music at Panther Island Pavilion.



504 Bar & Grill: The Creole-fusion restaurant in Lower Greenville officially opened at the end of the month.


High Fives Neighborhood Bar & Restaurant: A mural for a new concept that will replace Biergarten’s on Henderson Ave. has emerged. Open date and other details unknown.


HopFusion Ale Works: Fort Worth’s next craft brewery has found a home on East Broadway to begin construction.


Lark on the Park Late Night: The Arts District restaurant launched a late-night service on Monday, May 4. Enjoy it Monday through Thursday from 10pm to midnight and Friday and Saturday from 11pm to 1am.


Top Pot Doughnuts and Coffee: The Seattle-based spot is “Coming Soon” to Greenville Ave.


Village Baking Company: Boulangerie:  Lowest Greenville will get a new French bakery on May 14. It will focus on yeasted products like warm baguettes, seasonal scones, croissants and more.
