The return of the circus may be the highlight of the weekend, but if you have time to squeeze in more fun, there’s no shortage of events. See all the food, outdoor adventures and overall good times you can indulge in:


Thursday, July 30

Evening in the Shed: Occurring every Thursday evening in the month of July, Dallas Farmer’s Market will host an Evening in the Shed. Guests will have the opportunity to shop the market for everything local, including arts and crafts, fresh produce and artisan food. Beer, wine and live music will also be in attendance. Visit the calendar to get the scoop on who’s performing every Thursday. 4-9 p.m.


Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus: It’s that time of year! The highly anticipated circus is back with its Legends production, featuring highflying action and focus on mythical creatures. For tickets and times, click here.


Friday, July 31

Friday Night Fireworks: Travel over to Grapevine and watch the skies light up with colorful sparks. This 12-minute show is accompanied by exciting music, which is available for download here. Try to set up shop on the rooftop of the Gaylord Texan’s parking garage — it has the best view and features a DJ with plenty of music. 9:30 p.m.


Saturday, August 1

August Dollar Days: Presented by Time Warner Cable, the Dallas Arboretum offers $1 general admission and $2 Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden admission to all guests for the month of August. There will also be $1 and $2 food and drink items, including hot dogs, juice boxes, root beer floats and more. 9 a.m. Purchase tickets at gate only.



Let’s Play: Inspired by YouTube’s “Let’s Play” videos, the Let’s Play Gaming Expo celebrates everything that is gaming, featuring 70+ arcade cabinets, a Smash Bros. Tournament, Tetris World Championship and 80+ vendor and indie developer tables. Taking place at the the Plano Centre, this event runs all weekend. 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. For ticket pricing and purchasing, click here.


Architecture Walking Tour: The Dallas Arts District and Dallas Center for Architecture are hosting a 90-minute walking tour of Dallas’ urban arts district. Led by a trained tour guide, guests will examine Dallas buildings from the 1890s to the present day, including the detail, institutions and visionaries who played a roll in their creation. 10 a.m. Tickets start at $10. Dallas Flash Mob: Visit Klyde Warren Park to watch — or join in — a Dallas Flash Mob surprise event! Once the music starts, dancers will get the party going at 3 p.m.


Sausage Fest: Held at Main Street Garden in downtown, this year’s summer sausage fest comes equipped with sausage games, bull riding, squirrels and a dunk tank! Indulge in unique sausage plates and pair them with your favorite mixed drinks or cold brews. $15/person. 4-10 p.m.


Sunday, August 2

Sunday Funday: The new laid back and family-friendly summer series will take place on the banks of, and in, the Trinity River at Panther Island Pavilion. It will feature tubing, craft beer from Panther Island Brewing, paddle sports, Stand Up Paddleboard yoga, disc golf and more. FREE admission. $5 tube rentals. 12-6 p.m.


Strikes for Strays: Throw some strikes and have some fun at the bowling alley while helping out North Texas animals. Held at Plano Super Bowl, this family-friendly event features door prizes, raffle items, goody bags, a silent auction and prizes for top scorers and the gutter-ball king and queen. Salsa & Sangria Sundays: Enjoy sangria and live salsa music on Saint Ann’s patio, located in the Harwood District of downtown Dallas. 7-10 p.m.
