Tuesday, August 18

Whole Foods Cooking Class: Interested in seeing how easy it is to cook grain-free meals? Whole Foods in Plano will host a grain-free cooking class, featuring seared tuna, ucchini noodles, caper chicken and more! $35/person. Cooking begins at 6:30 p.m.


Beer & Cheese Pairing: Travel to Little Elm Crafthouse and indulge in a flight of select beers and an assortment of cheeses, guaranteed to excite your palate. $25/person. 7 p.m.


Thursday, August 20

Evening in the Shed: Occurring every Thursday evening in the month of August, Dallas Farmer’s Market will host an Evening in the Shed. Guests will have the opportunity to shop the market for everything local, including arts and crafts, fresh produce and artisan food. Beer, wine and live music will also be in attendance. Friday, August 21

Salado Whiskey Dinner: Texas Spice at Omni Dallas Hotel will host another whiskey dinner, part of the Third Friday event. This dinner features Texas shrimp, pork belly and a mini State Fair funnel cake, all paired with Salado Neat. $55/person. 6:30 p.m. For reservations, call 214-979-4529.


Saturday, August 22

Brew HaHa: The 2nd annual event, benefiting Genesis Women’s Shelter, features a fitness workout incorporating martial arts moves and the daily physical challenges of a brew master. The one-hour workout is open to the public, but attendees are encouraged to bring a donation of cash or gift cards for groceries, fast food or everyday items. $20/person — includes t-shirt and entry into the OHB Saturday Tap Room, which will offer a live band, food trucks and bar games. 12:30 p.m.


Lone Star Beer Texas Heritage Festival: Happening all around the state of Texas, Gilley’s Dallas will host the festival that celebrates Texas food, Texas music and Texas beer. The music lineup includes the Old 97’s, The Black Angels, Grupo Fantasma and more! Enjoy food from Gilley’s, Easy Slider, El Come Taco and What’s da Scoop. FREE — attendance is first come, first serve. 1 p.m.


Sunday, August 23

Salsa & Sangria Sundays: Enjoy sangria and live salsa music on Saint Ann’s patio, located in the Harwood District of downtown Dallas. 7-10 p.m.



Frisco: According to NerdWallet, Frisco is one of the 10 best cities in the country to start a restaurant. The proof is in the pudding, too — in just five years, the beloved suburb has added 100 new restaurants.


State Fair of Texas: Out of all the quirky fried foods to be served this year, fried lobster and a bacon margarita take the trophy. It’s the first year for fried lobster, along with fried alligator and fried buffalo. See the list of finalists for the State Fair Food Awards.


Uptown Pawn: Nope, not a pawn shop — a bar in Uptown. The new bar-restaurant concept consists of the “fun, whimsical nature of a pawn shop with the hospitality of a bar and restaurant.”


Urban Acres: Sadly, after a year, the local and organic retail spot has closed its doors. However, the company will continue its organic CSA produce share program and will still serve as a produce pickup location on Fridays and Saturdays.
