Thursday, August 20
Evening in the Shed: Occurring every Thursday evening in the month of August, Dallas Farmer’s Market will host an Evening in the Shed. Guests will have the opportunity to shop the market for everything local, including arts and crafts, fresh produce and artisan food. Beer, wine and live music will also be in attendance. Friday, August 21
Coleman Family Adventure Fest: This three-day fest takes place at the Irving Convention Center in Las Colinas and features rock climbing, archery, BMX, rocket building, skateboard lessons and more. Aside from the hands-on activities, celebrity guests will also be in attendance. 11 a.m. Purchase tickets here.
Lone Star Beer Texas Heritage Festival: Happening all around the state of Texas, Gilley’s Dallas will host the festival that celebrates Texas food, Texas music and Texas beer. The music lineup includes the Old 97’s, The Black Angels,Grupo Fantasma and more! Enjoy food from Gilley’s, Easy Slider, El Come Taco and What’s da Scoop. FREE — attendance is first come, first serve. 1 p.m.
North Texas Fair & Rodeo: Denton’s annual nine-day fair features horse and livestock shows, carnival rides, concert stages, a chili cook-off, pageant, parade and more! Headliners for the live music include the Randy Rogers Band, Charlie Daniels Band and Josh Abbott Band. 1 p.m. Purchase tickets here.
’til Midnight at the Nasher: The Nasher Sculpture Center offers free admission to its monthly event, ’til Midnight, which features live outdoor concerts, social media scavenger hunts, progressive tours and access to the the permanent collection and special exhibitions. Nasher Cafe by Wolfgang Puck offers special reserve-ahead picnic dining for two and grab & go food items the night of the event. 6 p.m. – midnight.
Friday Night Fireworks: Travel over to Grapevine and watch the skies light up with colorful sparks. This FREE 12-minute show is accompanied by exciting music, which is available for download here. Try to set up shop on the rooftop of the Gaylord Texan’s parking garage — it has the best view and features a DJ with plenty of music. 9:30 p.m.
Saturday, August 22
Hatch Chile Festival: Celebrate Grand Prairie’s festive, family atmosphere with the 5th annual Hatch Chile Festival at Farmers Market. The festival will feature both raw and roasted Hatch chiles sold by the pound, live music and much more. 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Slide the City: This might be your last chance at celebrating summer! Slide down a 1,000 ft. slip and slide, and enjoy music, dancing and food. Bring water guns, buckets and floaties to squirt, spray and splash all day. 9 a.m. For registration and location, click here.
Brew HaHa: The 2nd annual event, benefiting Genesis Women’s Shelter, features a fitness workout incorporating martial arts moves and the daily physical challenges of a brew master. The one-hour workout is open to the public, but attendees are encouraged to bring a donation of cash or gift cards for groceries, fast food or everyday items. $20/person — includes t-shirt and entry into the OHB Saturday Tap Room, which will offer a live band, food trucks and bar games. 12:30 p.m.
