Burleson Named Real Estate Executive of the Year

Burleson Named Residential Real Estate Executive of the Year

Surrounded by members from throughout the Ebby Halliday Companies, Mary Frances Burleson was honored as D CEO’s Residential Real Estate Executive of the Year this past Wednesday night at Dakota’s restaurant in downtown Dallas.

Long before she passed away at the age of 104 last September, Ebby Halliday knew who she wanted to succeed her at the helm of the company she founded in 1945. After all, Mary Frances had been by her side for more than 50 years, and has been instrumental in growing the Ebby Halliday Companies into the largest independent residential real estate firm in Texas. As President and CEO, Burleson oversees Ebby Halliday Realtors, Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate and Williams Trew Real Estate, with combined sales of $7.85 billion in 2015.

Ebby and Mary Frances proved to be quite a powerful duo. Since Ebby’s death, Mary Frances has been repositioning the Ebby Halliday Companies from a legacy company to one that’s on the leading edge of incorporating technology – especially mobile platforms.

Burleson, who is also a recipient of the National Association of Realtors’ prestigious Distinguished Service Award, says she has no intention of slowing down. “I’m not going to sit on the porch and rock,” she told D CEO magazine in an interview highlighting her storied career. “If you do, your mind and body atrophy, and I don’t have time for that.”

Congratulation to Mary Frances, who often says she is blessed to be part of the best team in residential real estate. We feel equally blessed to have her as our leader.

Dallas-area Home Price Gains No. 4 Nationwide

Dallas-area Home Price Gains No. 4 Nationwide

The Dallas region’s home price gains continue to rank among the hottest in the country, posting an 8.3 percent increase year-over-year in the new Standard & Poor’s/Case-Shiller 20-market comparison. Dallas trailed only Portland, Seattle and Denver in the latest index of rising home values.

Nationally, the 20 largest metropolitan cities saw home prices rise 5.1 percent from last year. Dallas was one of 14 cities to post year-over-year gains higher than the national average. Portland and Seattle recorded double-digit increases in July from a year earlier — 12.4 percent and 11.2 percent, respectively.

Dallas home prices have been rising between 8 percent and 10 percent annually for more than a year in the Case-Shiller survey. Local prices are at record levels in the widely watched index and are up more than 25 percent from 2007.

Martha Williams, Joan Trew Honored

Martha Williams, Joan Trew Honored

On September 29, Martha Williams and Joan Trew, founders of Williams Trew Real Estate, will be honored as Fort Worth’s 2016 Business Executives of the Year by the Fort Worth Business Press, Texas Wesleyan University and the Fort Worth Chamber.

The Forty-Seventh Annual Fort Worth Business Hall of Fame event will take place at the Fort Worth Club and will recognize the significant accomplishments of two of the area’s most-admired civic and industry leaders.

Williams Trew, Fort Worth’s leading residential real estate boutique, became part of the Ebby Halliday family in early 2015. The firm has a unique culture based on a core set of values that promote the success of the team rather than the individual. This concept has helped make it one of the most successful real estate firms in Fort Worth history.

All of us at Ebby Halliday are very proud of Martha and Joan – and everyone associated with Williams Trew. Each and every day, we grow in our appreciation of Fort Worth’s most-respected residential real estate brokerage. Congratulations on this significant honor!

This year’s charity tournament and after-party were once again held at Frisco’s prestigious Stonebriar Country Club. The event has grown over the years, from 50 golfers to this year’s 128 golfers, more than 250 attendees at the awards dinner and silent auction, and more than 45 local sponsors.

Stonebriar is one of the finest private country clubs in Texas and we were thrilled they once again hosted our charity tournament. Everyone had a great time benefitting a great cause.

Is Now a Good Time to List a North Texas Home?

Is Now a Good Time to List a North Texas Home?

The arrival of fall (at least on the calendar) offers a great opportunity for a check-up of the local housing market. We reviewed the latest numbers and one thing we can say for sure is that what was once considered real estate wisdom – the ideal time to list your home for sale is the traditional spring selling season – is no longer true for Dallas-Fort Worth-area homeowners.

Year-over-year home sales for August and the current low inventory of homes available to purchase indicate there is no reason to wait until spring to list a North Texas home for sale. The latest numbers from North Texas Real Estate Information Systems offer a very compelling case for sellers who would like to get a head start on their potential competition.

A few of the highlights from the NTREIS numbers for August 2016 vs. August 2015 include:

*  The average sales price of a North Texas home has risen 7.9 percent.

*  The average time a home is on the market is only 37 days.

*  The number of homes for sale is down 10.8 percent.

With inventory tight and homes selling very quickly, it’s critical for buyers in Dallas-Fort Worth to define their priorities early on to streamline their house-hunting process.

While today’s homebuyers have access to a wealth of information, what they often don’t have is a way to tailor that information to their needs. That’s where a properly educated real estate professional can save you a great deal of time and money. You’ll breathe easier knowing that you have an Ebby agent representing your best interests in what may be the most important decision you’ll ever make.

North Texas Giving Day is Today

North Texas Giving Day is Today

Today, September 22, is North Texas Giving Day, a day when we can all come together and rally behind the nonprofits that make our community a better place to live, work and play. Until midnight tonight, you’re encouraged to donate to more than 2,000 certified nonprofits at NorthTexasGivingDay.org.

In just seven years, North Texas Giving Day has pumped more than $119 million into the North Texas community – over $33 million in 2015 alone. All gifts of $25 to $50,000 given today will be amplified by some of the more than $2 million in bonus and prize funds. These funds are raised by Communities Foundation of Texas and come from businesses, foundations and individual donors. Some nonprofits have additional challenge grants to further amplify donations.

At Ebby Halliday Realtors, service to the community is one of our founding principles. Three charities particularly close to our heart are WiNGS (formerly YWCA of Metropolitan Dallas), home of Ebby’s Place, which serves as a place for poor working women to change their lives; Juliette Fowler Communities, site of The Ebby House, a new community for young women who have aged out of the foster-care system; and Happy Hill Farm, a 500-acre farm near Granbury that is home to North Central Texas Academy. The Ebby Halliday Acers Library is located at Happy Hill Farm.

Whichever North Texas charity you choose to support, please visit NorthTexasGivingDay.org today to make a difference in our community.
