Sarasota: Beaches and Beyond

Sarasota: Beaches and Beyond

Great weather, great beaches and beaucoup amenities – that’s Sarasota, Florida, in a nutshell.

Whether you’re considering a second home or where to spend the next chapter of your life, the recently released spring issue of Grand Vie: Luxury in Living magazine offers just what you need to jumpstart your journey. Featuring a special section on exceptional vacation homes available for purchase in Sarasota by noted real estate blogger Candy Evans, the newest edition of Dallas-Fort Worth’s premier luxury property magazine puts the spotlight squarely on this natural paradise.

While Sarasota is known for plentiful boating, golf and tennis, as well as wide bays and acres of pristine, white-quartz sand beaches, it’s also the Cultural Capital of Florida. On the state’s west coast, only 45 minutes from St. Petersburg and an hour from Tampa, you’ll discover a city that is undergoing a vibrant building boom and features great museums and fabulous restaurants.

Just a few of the area’s more-notable homeowners include best-selling mystery author Stephen King, ESPN college basketball commentator Dick Vitale, lead singer of AC/DC Brian Johnson, and TV talk show host Jerry Springer.

What will your money buy in Sarasota? There are downtown or beach condominiums, single-family homes in town, or on a barrier island. While multimillion-dollar oceanfront homes are common, $250,000 to $400,000 gets you a condo villa or small single-family home with low maintenance. The average price point in Sarasota? $475,000.

The homes in Grand Vie’s Sarasota special section are represented by Michael Saunders & Company, Ebby Halliday Realtors’ Luxury Portfolio International partner in Sarasota. To see them and to learn more about this laid-back Southwest Florida destination, click here.

Tom Landry Classic Awards Scholarships

Tom Landry Classic Awards Scholarships

After legendary Dallas Cowboys Head Coach Tom Landry’s passing in 2000, the “Tom Landry Classic” was created to honor his legacy. For 17 years now, “the Classic” has had strong ties to North Texas high school football programs and awarded scholarships to the participating schools’ student-athletes. Although the games are played in the fall, the culmination of the Tom Landry Classic is in the spring when a banquet is held to honor scholarship winners.

On April 24, Ebby Halliday Realtors presented its 2016-2017 scholarship winner, Courtney Reid, at the Classic’s annual banquet. It marked the 17th time in as many years that Ebby Halliday has supported the Tom Landry Classic.

Scholarship applicants must exhibit Landry-like characteristics and are selected on the basis of three criteria: academic excellence, community service and leadership.

“Tom Landry was a man of faith and family, which he valued even more than his highly successful 29-year coaching career, and scholarship recipients like Courtney truly excel in balancing those qualities,” says Mary Frances Burleson, president and CEO of Ebby Halliday Realtors.

Courtney, who will graduate from Lovejoy High School in late May, is a member of the Lovejoy Band and has completed more than 100 hours of community service at The Samaritan Inn and the Allen Animal Shelter while in high school. She is an AP Scholar with Distinction, a member of the National Honor Society, a writer for her school’s newspaper, and a member of the speech and debate team. She will attend Texas A&M University and major in Forensic and Investigative Sciences.

Courtney received a commemorative crystal award from Ms. Burleson at the scholarship banquet.

“This event — more specifically, this banquet — allows us to pass on the wonderful legacy of Tom Landry to a whole new generation of young people,” says Tom Landry Classic Executive Director Kris Cumnock.

“Ebby Halliday Realtors was founded on three principles of service: service to our clients, service to our industry and service to our community,” says Burleson. “We are very proud to support the Tom Landry Classic scholarship program and to be part of an organization that places service to others at the forefront of everything we do.”

Customer Service Award Winners Announced

Companywide Customer Service Award Winners Announced

Ebby Halliday Realtors was founded on three points of service: service to the client, service to the industry and service to the community. That emphasis on service is as apparent today as it was in 1945 when Ebby Halliday Realtors was a one-woman, one-office operation.

“As our company celebrates 72 years of service this year, we would like to announce, as we do each year, the companywide winners of our VIP Excellence in Service Award,” says Mary Frances Burleson, president and CEO of Ebby Halliday Realtors. “This award recognizes a level of excellence that is truly above and beyond.”

The Ebby Halliday Realtors’ Companywide VIP Excellence in Service winners for 2016:

Top Companywide Office – 190 – Richardson Office

Top Companywide Winner – Helen Curry of the Plano Office

Top Companywide Runner-up – Karen Hallman of the 190 – Richardson Office

VIP Excellence in Customer Service Award winners are determined by the total number of points received from questions pertaining specifically to service in buyer/seller surveys sent to Ebby clients. In 2016, 99 percent of respondents ranked Ebby Halliday and their sales associate as “Excellent” or “Good.”

The 190 – Richardson Office is located at 3621 Shire Blvd., Suite 100, in Richardson, near the corner of State Highway 190 and Jupiter Road. Managed by industry leader Malinda Howell, the office serves the real estate needs of Richardson, Garland, Rowlett, Sachse, Wylie, Murphy, Plano, Allen, Lucas, Lovejoy, Parker, North Dallas, and beyond.

“I’m proud to be affiliated with the No. 1 independent real estate company in Texas, and I’m thrilled to be part of the 190 – Richardson Office, our VIP Excellence in Service-award winning office for 2016,” says Ms. Howell. “Ebby Associates throughout our company offer their clients exceptional service day in and day out.”

Ms. Curry is widely admired by clients and peers alike for exemplary customer service and her dedication to helping clients enjoy a smooth transition in one of the most important decisions of their lives.

“Helen’s stellar reputation has been built on treating her clients and fellow agents with respect, providing remarkable customer service, and doing the right thing,” says Kay Wright, sales manager of Ebby’s Plano Office. “She goes to great lengths to ensure every client has an exceptional real estate experience.”

Ms. Hallman is well known for her honesty, integrity and extensive knowledge of the North Texas area.

“From the moment you meet Karen, you know she has your best interests in mind,” says Ms. Howell. “She listens closely to her to clients and delivers extraordinary results.”

Pricing a Property is Serious Business

Pricing a Property is Serious Business

Strategic pricing is the key to selling your home at an attractive price in an acceptable amount of time. While many brokers will gladly list your home, the reality is if it is not properly priced your home may sit on the market month after month and actually help sell competing properties.

At Ebby Halliday, our Associates take pricing your property very seriously. Your Ebby Associate will utilize Multiple Listing Service data to create a Competitive Market Analysis that estimates a market-value range for your home based on the recent action of buyers and sellers in your neighborhood. A few of the factors your Ebby Associate will consider when estimating your property’s market value:

* Successfully sold homes – Lists the selling price of recently purchased homes comparable to yours.

* Competitive properties for sale – Since they are not yet sold, the market value is undetermined, but they are important, as buyers most likely will view and compare these properties with yours.

* Pending sales – Though they have not yet closed, homes under contract are a good indicator of value in the current market.

* Failed to sell – The listed price of these homes suggests what potential buyers will not pay.

If you’re curious about what your home is worth in North Texas’ competitive housing market, visit the award-winning ebby.com, where you’ll find just the right real estate professional for your needs.
