Ebby’s Home for the Holidays: Holiday Décor Tips with IBB Design

You don’t need to change your entire home’s décor to inject the holidays into your space this season. Get in the spirit and transform your space with these quick decorating tips from Shay Geyer, designer at IBB Design Fine Furnishings.

1. Use colors that complement the space

Think outside of the traditional red-and-green box when injecting holiday colors into your space. Add metallics for a bit of sparkle, as well as white or muted blues. Mixing and matching different textures and patterns is always a great idea.

2. Utilize things you already have

Use lamps, candle holders, and even winter fruit (hint: pomegranates, oranges) to layer in with garland, ornaments, flowers, pinecones and other holiday elements.

3. Always have enough seating for your guests

With the holidays comes entertaining friends and family, so be sure to have enough seating in your space. Benches, ottomans and decorative pull-up chairs are the perfect way to add additional seating for your guests.

4. Hang a wreath in an unexpected place

Get creative with your holiday wreaths this season and place them in unexpected spots throughout your home. Utilize suction-cup hooks to hang wreaths on bookcases and other glass surfaces. If opting for lit wreaths, be sure to find battery-powered ones to avoid visible cords!

Keep Away Germs During Cold and Flu Season

With flu season ramping up, it’s important to keep you and your family healthy. Protection begins at home so here are six ways to give those pesky germs the boot.

Get your flu shot  Many experts say that getting vaccinated is the single most important thing you can do to prevent the flu. Click here to find flu clinics near you. Pro tip: If you opt for the flu mist, bring juice or a lollipop to mask the taste.

Stop dragging germs around  When you notice your mop or dish towels start to smell or appear dirty, it’s time to ditch them. Swap out these items for fresh, clean ones to get optimal cleaning results.

Don’t forget about the sponge  Bacteria thrive in damp environments so a sponge is a dream home for germs. Place your sponge in the dishwasher or put it in the microwave for a couple of minutes to sanitize.

Be aware of germ hiding spots  Did you know that phones are one of the filthiest things in our lives? Remotes, door handles, light switches, cutting boards and children’s toys are just a few of the other unexpected places germs hide. Cleaning your home regularly will help maintain a germ-free environment. Use an anti-bacterial wipe to wipe down these surfaces and erase the chance of spreading germs.

Wash your hands often – And we mean often. It takes about 30 seconds for antibacterial soap to do its job, so teach children to sing the Happy Birthday song or the ABCs for the duration of the wash. If soap and water aren’t readily available, keep an alcohol-based sanitizer near you. You might consider storing additional hand sanitizers in your car, purse or gym bag.

Throw it in the wash  Try to wash your bedsheets in hot water once a week, especially after someone is sick. And don’t forget pillows, blankets and duvet covers.

Santa Cops Toy Drive Under Way

Santa Cops Toy Drive Under Way

At Ebby Halliday Realtors, we’re proud to serve as a drop-off location for the 2017 Santa Cops toy drive. The drive continues through December 13.

In 1984, Dallas Police officers created and developed Santa Cops, a program designed to assist members of the community who have been victims of crime.

The Santa Cops program has assisted over 10,000 families throughout the years. In recent years, the program has been able to help more than 600 families annually.

The Santa Cops project typically delivers the fruits of its efforts on the Saturday before Christmas to the citizens of Dallas. The best part? Watching children’s faces when officers bring toys to their home.

Items needed:

*  new, unwrapped toys for children of all ages

*  new or lightly used books

*  diapers

*  new blankets, robes, slippers

Santa Cops often needs gifts for older kids. Suggested items:

*  sports items (basketballs, footballs, soccer balls, bean bag toss sets, etc.)

*  bath gift sets

*  arts & crafts items

*  board games

*  age-appropriate books

*  skateboards

*  bicycle helmets

You’re encouraged to drop by the corporate office of Ebby Halliday Realtors at 4445 Sigma Road near the Galleria between the hours of 9 to 5, Monday through Friday, through December 13, to donate items to the 2017 Santa Cops toy drive. This simple act of kindness is sure to make your holiday season brighter!

Frisco Golf Tournament Benefits Texas Scottish Rite Hospital

Members of Ebby’s Frisco Office recently presented a check for $107,500 to representatives of Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. The check represents the proceeds of the office’s Ninth-Annual Charity Golf Tournament, held September 18. One-hundred percent of the proceeds from the event benefit Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Frisco, which is building a new ambulatory care center at the corner of Lebanon Road and the Dallas North Tollway.

“We are so incredibly pleased with the event and the results of this year’s charity golf tournament, our most-successful one to date,” says Kristi Davis, sales manager of Ebby’s Frisco Office. “We’re proud to support Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, and help aid in the care of children in Frisco and beyond.”

“This year we raised record-breaking proceeds to benefit one of our favorite charities,” says Katie Gallivan, an agent in Ebby’s Frisco office, a longtime tournament volunteer and the event’s coordinator. “We anticipate next year will be just as fun for all involved.”

Ebby’s Frisco Office is proud to partner with Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, which cares for children with orthopedic conditions, such as scoliosis, clubfoot, hand disorders, hip disorders and limb length differences, as well as certain related neurological disorders and learning disorders such as dyslexia, regardless of the family’s ability to pay.

A New Path to Your Dream

Flying over the suburbs of Melbourne

You may not be ready to buy a house today, but you can still live in the home of your dreams with help from Ebby Halliday Realtors and Home Partners of America.

Home Partners of America expands rental inventory options by casting a wider net to include properties not usually available for rent. For sellers, a Home Partners-qualified home can expand your potential buyer pool by marketing the property for lease, as well as for sale. If a qualified renter is interested, Home Partners of America may buy your home with a quick close and in cash.

Ebby Halliday Realtors can help you find or sell a Home Partners-qualified home. Here’s how it works:

1. Get Approved

• If an application is approved, Home Partners will outline the maximum monthly rent of the home for which the prospective household qualifies.

2. Find a Home Partners qualified home

• Prospective households will work with a Realtor to find a Home Partners-qualified home.
• Once a home is identified and approved by Home Partners, Home Partners will attempt to purchase the home. The outcome depends on certain conditions being met such as agreeing on a purchase price with the seller, a satisfactory inspection, attorney review of the purchase contract, and other closing conditions being satisfied.

3. Home Partners purchases the qualified home

• Once Home Partners’ offer for the home is accepted by the seller, prospective households will be required to sign a one-year lease for the home as well as a Right to Purchase Agreement.

4. Right to Purchase

• The household has the right to purchase the home at any time during their residency at the pre-set purchase price. If the household chooses not to renew the lease, they can walk away without penalty.
