The #BettyWhiteChallenge: Fans Pay Tribute to the TV Icon and Champion of Animals

“Animals are near and dear to my heart, and I’ve devoted my life to trying to improve their lives.”

Betty White, 1922 – 2021

Betty White, best known for her television roles as Sue Ann Nivens on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and Rose Nylund on “The Golden Girls,” was also known for her love of animals – personally donating countless hours and resources to animal welfare and conservation.

Sadly, on December 31 – just 17 days shy of her 100th birthday – Betty White passed away.

Wishing to pay tribute to the comedic icon and lifelong animal advocate, fans from around the world mobilized on social media and the #BettyWhiteChallenge began trending.

Set for January 17, on what would have been White’s centennial birthday, the #BettyWhiteChallenge is quickly gaining momentum and encourages everyone to donate at least $5 to animal rescues and shelters in her honor.
