Cornerstone Brokerage Joins Ebby Halliday Companies

Real Estate Leader Furthers Commitment to East Texas

Residential real estate leader The Ebby Halliday Companies announced today it has acquired Cornerstone Brokerage, based in Tyler, approximately 100 miles east of Dallas. In addition to Tyler, Cornerstone serves the residential and farm & ranch real estate needs of Smith and surrounding counties. It will now operate as Ebby Halliday Tyler.

“This is a very exciting day at the Ebby Halliday Companies as we further our commitment to serving the incredible communities of East Texas,” says Ebby Halliday Companies President & CEO Chris Kelly. “This acquisition brings together two like-minded, market-leading companies committed to the highest standards of serving our clients and communities.”

Travis Mathews, Chief Operating Officer for the Ebby Halliday Companies, adds, “Today’s announcement is the ideal next step following our expansion into Jacksonville, allowing our Tyler and Jacksonville agents to create a growing network and expanded market. We are excited to become part of the Tyler brokerage community and to cooperate with our fellow brokerages and agents in the best interests of home buyers and sellers.”

Founded in 1997, Cornerstone is celebrating 25 years in 2022. The firm’s 19 agents, including its seven partners with a combined 162 years of real estate experience, have always been dedicated to providing extraordinary real estate service to their clients in East Texas.

“We believe those years of experience, along with, listening to and caring for the needs of our clients, have contributed to the growth and success of our company,” says Founding Partner and Broker of Record Andy Guinn. “Our agents and employees are dedicated not only to personal success but to our overall success.”

Adds Partner Melanie Baker, “Although smaller in number, our sales production ranks in the top of our market. This is due to our business being based largely on referrals and repeat clients, offering customer service on a personal level. Our track record of success speaks to the respect we have earned in the community.”

Operating as Ebby Halliday Tyler, the 21 agents from Cornerstone Brokerage are excited to join the Ebby Halliday Companies family!

Says Partner Steven Farrell, “Joining the Ebby Halliday Companies takes us to an entirely new level. We now offer agents and their clients a dedicated and seasoned support team. As a member of Leading Real Estate Companies of the World, we’ve worked with the fine people at Ebby for many years providing relocation services to our clients. Their approach to business is very similar to ours – always putting people first.”

In addition to their affiliation with Leading Real Estate Companies of the World, a global network of more than 550 premier real estate brokers, and its luxury division, Luxury Portfolio International, agents in Ebby’s Tyler office will benefit from the latest and most relevant real estate technologies, as well as an integrated mortgage, title and insurance experience – a hallmark of Ebby’s approach to making real estate transactions convenient and seamless.

“We are thrilled to welcome our colleagues from Tyler to the Ebby Halliday Companies,” says Senior Vice President of Brokerage Malinda Howell. “Their team has a hard-earned reputation for integrity, service and client satisfaction, and we believe they are an ideal fit for the Ebby family.”

Guinn, Baker and Farrell, along with the rest of the team at Ebby Halliday Tyler, are actively involved in the community, supporting such organizations as Habitat for Humanity, Christian Women’s Job Corp, and Clark’s 5k, which benefits Young Life and honors deceased Cornerstone Partner Clark Crawford’s dream of sending “a busload of kids to camp.”

The Ebby Halliday Companies are celebrating 77 years of serving the real estate needs of its valued clients. It all began in 1945, when one bold woman parlayed her wisdom, generosity, business acumen and endurance into what is today is one of America’s most-respected residential real estate brokerages. The legacy of Ebby Halliday is now amplified by the company’s affiliation with HomeServices of America, a Berkshire Hathaway affiliate and the country’s No. 1 residential real estate company by transactions. The Ebby Halliday Companies are proud to offer the most-convenient, full-service residential real estate experience available, with its in-house brands: Prosperity Home Mortgage, Home Team Insurance, Texas Premier Title and HSTX Title.

The #BettyWhiteChallenge: Fans Pay Tribute to the TV Icon and Champion of Animals

“Animals are near and dear to my heart, and I’ve devoted my life to trying to improve their lives.”

Betty White, 1922 – 2021

Betty White, best known for her television roles as Sue Ann Nivens on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and Rose Nylund on “The Golden Girls,” was also known for her love of animals – personally donating countless hours and resources to animal welfare and conservation.

Sadly, on December 31 – just 17 days shy of her 100th birthday – Betty White passed away.

Wishing to pay tribute to the comedic icon and lifelong animal advocate, fans from around the world mobilized on social media and the #BettyWhiteChallenge began trending.

Set for January 17, on what would have been White’s centennial birthday, the #BettyWhiteChallenge is quickly gaining momentum and encourages everyone to donate at least $5 to animal rescues and shelters in her honor.

If you would like to participate in the #BettyWhiteChallenge, see our list of local animal rescues and shelters across North Texas.

Ebby Halliday Realtors Kick Off 2nd Annual Food Bank Fundraiser

Last year, during the height of the pandemic, shutdowns and layoffs created food insecurity for many North Texas neighbors. So agents and employees of Ebby Halliday Realtors rallied their Ebby Halliday Companies‘ network to collect $75,000 for two area organizations providing hunger relief: North Texas Food Bank and Tarrant Area Food Bank.

Supplemented by a matching gift offer from the Ebby Halliday Foundation, they were able to donate during the holidays more than $110,000, which roughly translated to 330,000 meals.

“It was such a successful effort last year,” Vice President of Brokerage Carolyn Rosson says, “that we would like to replicate it – there is still great need in our community.”

Also VP of Brokerage, Malinda Howell says, “We held a company-wide backpack drive in September, collecting more than 600 supply-filled backpacks for Ebby Halliday Elementary students. And I know heading into the holidays this year, we can ride that momentum, tapping into that Ebby spirit once again.”

Considered one of Texas’ most successful businesswomen, Ebby Halliday Acers left a mark not only as a pioneer in Dallas’ residential real estate industry, but as a philanthropist who believed in giving back to the communities her namesake company served.

This commitment to, in her words, “do something for someone every day,” is still very much a part of the fabric of the Berkshire Hathaway Affiliate, which also includes core services companies Prosperity Home Mortgage, Texas Premier Title, HSTX Title and Home Team Insurance.

With the ongoing pandemic and its devastating results, food insecurity remains a major issue in our region. Anyone able to donate to the North Texas Food Bank or the Tarrant Area Food Bank, is encouraged to visit bit.ly/EbbyServesNTFB and bit.ly/EbbyServesTAFB.

Ebby Halliday Realtors Opens Office in Richland Chambers

Ebby Halliday Realtors announced the opening of its newest office, Ebby Richland Chambers, following a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday August 20.  The office will serve the residential real estate needs of the Richland Chambers Reservoir area, a thriving lake community about an hour from Dallas County, as well as the greater Corsicana area. The new address is 10409 S. U.S. Highway 287 in Corsicana.

“With so many people moving to the larger Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, and others looking to transition to a more remote lifestyle or invest in a nearby getaway,” Ebby Halliday Companies CEO Chris Kelly says, “it is absolutely the right time for this new location. We’ll be able to help our neighbors in and around Corsicana for many more years to come.”

Adds Travis Mathews, Vice President of Operations for the Ebby Halliday Companies, “I am so excited with the direction and growth of the Ebby Halliday Companies and to be a part of the incredible momentum this iconic company is experiencing. Our new Richlands Chambers office is a prime example of our commitment to growing our brands across the region, and well beyond.”

Ginger Gill, Sales Leader of the Ebby Preston Center Office in Dallas, will also oversee the Richland Chambers office. Gill helped launch the highly successful Ebby Cedar Creek Lake Office three years ago.

“While I will be managing this remarkable team,” Gill says, “they are all experienced, local residents who have been selling this area for years and have the lay of the land like no one else. They will continue operating as they have been, providing Navarro County with their expertise in residential, land, farm & ranch and lake sales.”

“The visible location at the east end of the 287 bridge,” Gill continues, “will be convenient for clients in search mode.  It will offer an ideal setting for Associates and clients to meet to discuss residential real estate needs, whether that’s a primary home, a frequently visited second home or an occasional weekend retreat.”

Gill adds that area sellers who list with Ebby benefit from expanded exposure for their properties thanks to the brand’s established and reputable presence in the region. Simply put, Gill says, Ebby’s listings reach more potential buyers – in particular residents of the Dallas-Fort Worth area, who make up the majority of North Texas lake-home buyers.

Having celebrated 75 years of service in 2020 to North Texans and those moving to the region, the Ebby Halliday Companies are No. 1 in Texas by sales volume. The Ebby Halliday Companies were acquired by HomeServices of America, a Berkshire Hathaway affiliate and the country’s largest residential real estate company based on transactions, in 2018. The Ebby Halliday Companies’ Core Services Companies include Prosperity Mortgage, Texas Premier Title, HSTX Title and Home Team Insurance. For more information, visit the award-winning ebby.com.

Ebby Halliday Elementary Starts the School Year Strong

Agents of Ebby Halliday Companies Deliver Backpacks, School Supplies for Every Student at DISD’s Ebby Halliday Elementary

The Ebby Halliday Companies is built on a foundation of generosity, extending back to the days when Ebby Halliday herself was running the iconic residential real estate brand. Now a new generation of agents have readily adopted her personal mantra, “Do Something for Someone Every Day,” and are living it out in a variety of ways.

A most recent example is the Back-to-School Backpack Drive initiated by the company’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Council. Agents were given school supply lists for Ebby Halliday Elementary School in southeast Dallas, and asked to provide.

The company’s more than 30 offices quickly responded and within a week, hundreds of backpacks filled with notebooks, pencils and more, were being delivered to the school – in plenty of time for Meet the Teacher night on August 12.

CEO & President Chris Kelly was quite pleased by the effort.

“Given what we’ve asked the children in our communities to endure and overcome these past 18 months,” said Kelly, “helping get their school year off on the right note is the least we can do to contribute towards their success. I am incredibly proud of how the entirety of the Ebby Halliday Companies rallied around the challenge issued by our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Council.”

Sylvia Sotelo Kidd and Pamela Young are EHC’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion officers as well as sales leaders with Ebby Halliday’s offices in Rockwall and Forney, and Southwest Dallas, respectively.

“The Council’s goal was to gather 650 backpacks and we beat that by three!” said Kidd. ”We also have additional supplies for almost 100 more students.”

“Our mission with community outreach efforts like this is twofold,” Kidd continued. “We want to encourage both internal growth among our agents, staff and executives, and growth among our own community members. We want to ensure they have the opportunity to bridge generational wealth gaps. This mindset can start as early as Kindergarten.”

Added Young, “In addition to this, committee members have already identified a few key areas in North Texas where we plan to hold educational seminars regarding credit and lending, and host other beneficial programs. The potential to own a home should be for everyone.”

Ebby Halliday Elementary opened in August 2011 as part of a 2008 DISD bond package. The two-story, environmentally-friendly school is set in a rural-like area called Rylie where manufactured homes and horses are a common sight. Just behind the school, bulldozers prepare lots for a large single-family housing development, perhaps a sign of hope for community members that owning a home can be for them, too.
