Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness

No time in recent history has tested our resolve like the previous year’s events: a pandemic, an election year, and a devastating winter storm.

As we commemorate Independence Day, let us celebrate our enthusiasm in liberty and our individual and collective acts of bravery and heroism. We have overcome so much and continue to endure in life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

There is a certain enthusiasm in liberty that makes human nature rise above itself, in acts of bravery and heroism.

Alexander Hamilton, “The Farmer Refuted” February 23, 1775

Helping Neighbors, Honoring 75 Years of Service

Considered one of Texas’ most successful businesswomen, Ebby Halliday Acers left a mark not only as a pioneer in North Texas’ residential real estate industry, but as a philanthropist who believed in giving back to the communities her namesake company serves. This commitment to, in her words, “do something for someone every day,” is still very much a part of the fabric of the Ebby Halliday Companies, a Berkshire Hathaway Affiliate, which includes Ebby Halliday Realtors, Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate and Williams Trew.

To mark our 75th anniversary as a leading real estate provider, we chose to honor this legacy by hosting a fundraising drive across our approximately 2,000 agents and employees to support the North Texas Food Bank and the Tarrant Area Food Bank. Ebby employees reached out to their networks to raise funds for hunger-relief in North Texas at a time when food bank services are needed more than ever due to the ongoing economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Our agents’ work and efforts this year have resulted in a thriving real estate market during a pandemic,” said President and CEO Chris Kelly. “But we know there are so many more in our community who are struggling, and this is a year, more so than ever, to really support them.”

The impact of the pandemic is a driving factor in the Ebby Halliday Companies’ focus on community outreach and charitable giving as we celebrate 75 years of service. And in this season of giving thanks, our storied brand saw a great opportunity to showcase how collaboration and partnership strengthens our communities.

As the employee giving campaign entered its final push leading up to Thanksgiving, the board of the Ebby Halliday Foundation made a matching gift offer. The Foundation provided a $2 match for every $1 donated (up to $30,000), tripling donations and encouraging agents to meet – and surpass – the $75,000 goal. We are thrilled as a company that not only did we meet the goal, we raised $110,000, providing 330,000 meals for our neighbors across North Texas.

With the ongoing pandemic and its devastating results, food insecurity remains a major issue in our region. If you are able to donate to the North Texas Food Bank or the Tarrant Area Food Bank, we encourage you to “do something for someone today.”

Happy Veterans Day

Happy Veterans Day

Happy Veterans Day to our soldiers, both past and present. On this day, we honor all current and former members of the Armed Services. Our country’s greatness is built on the foundation of your courage and sacrifice.

As a small way of expressing our thanks to you, we’re proud to be part of U.S. Military on the Move, a free real estate rebate and information program developed by Leading Real Estate Companies of the World, to allow all active duty, retired military and wounded warriors to earn cash back when they buy or sell a home.

When you buy or sell a home through U.S. Military on the Move, you’ll receive a cash rebate based on the actual sales price – and you’ll receive your rebate at settlement. Military on the Move is offered exclusively by members of Leading Real Estate Companies of the World. To be eligible for the program, register with U.S. Military on the Move before contacting a real estate agent. To register, visit usmilitaryonthemove.com.

At the Ebby Halliday Companies, we know that Veterans are highly disciplined, hardworking, team-oriented and accustomed to overcoming obstacles – all skills that translate well to the real estate profession.

This, combined with the fact that Veterans often face challenges re-entering the workforce after serving our country, is why we have implemented our Veterans to Realtors program. The program eases the transition into the real estate profession for Veterans.

“If you live in the North Texas region, and have served in any branch of the military, then you could be qualified for our Veterans to Realtors program,” says Chris Kelly, president and CEO of the Ebby Halliday Companies. “If you are able to make a commitment to real estate and are accepted to the program, we will pay your fee at our company school, and you will receive a $500 reimbursement after your first closing.

“We also recognize that military service is a shared duty and sacrifice for the entire family,” says Kelly. “We are proud to also provide this program to any spouse of an active or reserve-duty military service member.”

If you are a Veteran and would like to get your residential real estate career started, contact Ebby Halliday Companies Recruiting Specialist Shelly Nelson at shellynelson@ebby.com or any branch office sales manager for Ebby Halliday Realtors, Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate or Williams Trew.

Veterans Day is a good time to remember that our freedom isn’t guaranteed. It’s protected by the men and women in our Armed Services. To those who secure our way of life, thank you!

New Lakewood | Lake Highlands Office Offers One Door to Real Estate Services

On October 22, Ebby Halliday Realtors celebrated the opening of its beautiful new Lakewood | Lake Highlands Office at 6465 E. Mockingbird Lane, Suite 450.

“Located in the same shopping center, Hillside Village, as Ebby’s original Lakewood | Lake Highlands Office, this contemporary new office is built for the future,” says Chris Kelly, president and CEO of the Ebby Halliday Companies. “It offers an exceptional East Dallas location and is a statement of our commitment to serving this popular area – and well beyond – for years to come.”

Ebby’s Lakewood | Lake Highlands team is now enjoying a spacious, contemporary environment that includes cutting-edge technology, larger conference rooms and well-appointed meeting areas.

“This new space offers a sophisticated atmosphere and the latest technology in a much-sought-after East Dallas location with amazing new restaurants and retail space,” says René Barrera, sales leader of Ebby’s Lakewood | Lake Highlands Office. “Our sleek new interior is matched by a newly renovated exterior. We’re thrilled with the way they turned out and can’t wait to share our new space with our agents and valued clients.”

Lakewood | Lake Highlands Office will accommodate approximately 100 agents. It offers “one-door” access to everything you need to buy or sell a home, including brokerage, mortgage, title and insurance homeownership services, ensuring the easiest and most secure real estate experience available, Barrera says.

“We’re proud of our commitment to this unique, extraordinary part of North Texas,” says Barrera. “And , we look forward to serving current and future residents in the manner they have come to expect from Ebby agents for many years to come.”

Throughout 2020, the Ebby Halliday Companies are celebrating 75 years of serving the real estate needs of North Texans and those relocating to the region. It all began in 1945, when one bold woman parlayed her wisdom, generosity, business acumen and endurance into what is today the No. 1 residential real estate brokerage in Texas. The legacy of Ebby Halliday is now amplified by the company’s affiliation with HomeServices of America, a Berkshire Hathaway affiliate and the country’s No. 1 residential real estate company.

Sales Leaders Earn NAR Diversity Certification

Ebby Halliday Companies sales leaders were recently awarded the At Home with Diversity certification from the National Association of Realtors.

Leaders from Ebby Halliday Realtors, Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate and Williams Trew join more than 17,000 other real estate professionals in North America who have earned the certification after completing an 8-hour course addressing topics of diversity, fair housing, and business planning development. The program is designed to meet the nation’s fair housing commitment by educating and equipping NAR’s members with the tools they need to expand homeownership opportunities.

These real estate professionals meet the needs of diverse clients, while maintaining a competitive edge. The At Home with Diversity certification allows Realtors to not only apply the multi-faceted skills and tools they learned in the course to business practices, but conveys to clients they’re dynamic real estate professionals with expertise that transcends cultural barriers.
