Jennifer Young Named Sales Leader of Ebby’s Preston Keller Office

Jennifer Young is the new sales leader of Ebby Halliday Realtors’ Preston Keller OfficeChris Kelly, president and chief executive officer of the Ebby Halliday Companies, and Carolyn Rosson, vice president of brokerage, recently made the announcement.

“Jennifer brings a thorough understanding of all aspects of real estate, from marketing and lead generation to coaching agents and teams to reach their full potential,” Kelly says. “She is the ideal person to succeed Vivian Black, who has been an incredible leader of our Preston Keller Office for many years.”

Adds Rosson, “We are very excited to welcome Jennifer to her new role with our Preston Keller Office and we are so grateful for Vivian’s leadership and friendship over the years.”

Black, who recently announced her intention to retire, began her real estate career with Ebby Halliday Realtors in 1991 and has led the Preston Keller Office for 29 years.

“Vivian Black has been an extraordinary example for all of us at the Preston Keller Office and I am grateful for the opportunity to lead an office that is so widely respected,” says Young.

A graduate of Louisiana State University, Young worked as a registered nurse before becoming a real estate agent in 2014. When she moved to Dallas from Louisiana her Realtor was Mike Harvey. Young says Harvey, with his enthusiasm for real estate, convinced her to become an agent. She joined The Harvey Team in 2014, and when the team moved to Ebby in 2015 she joined them in the Preston Keller Office.

“I knew I could learn so much from working with Mike and Pam Harvey,” Young says. “They are so widely admired and respected. Both Mike and Pam have been great mentors and so helpful to me over the years.”

Young says while learning the real estate business from Mike and Pam, she began to notice how much she also enjoys teaching and mentoring.

“I’m a servant leader at heart,” she says. “As a former nurse, I love to take care of people and I get a lot of joy from watching others succeed. I’m excited about growing our Preston Keller Office to the next level and I am very much looking forward to working with each of our agents on their business plans and helping them achieve their goals.”

Young and her husband, Chris, are the proud parents of four children, ages 16 to 21. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time outdoors, volunteering in the community and cheering on the LSU Tigers.

“I am honored and excited to take on this leadership role,” Young says. “I’m looking forward to continuing to build on our Preston Keller Office’s extraordinary success and growing our brand as the Ebby Halliday Companies celebrate 75 years of serving North Texas.”

Ebby Halliday Companies Join CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion

In 2019, the Ebby Halliday Companies joined a growing coalition of CEOs pledging to advance diversity and inclusion in the workplace. President & CEO Chris Kelly is among the more than 1,000 CEOs who have come together for CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion, committing himself and the Ebby Halliday Companies to advance diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

“By signing on to this commitment, the Ebby Halliday Companies pledged to take action to cultivate a workplace where diverse perspectives and experiences are welcomed and respected, and where employees feel encouraged to discuss diversity and inclusion,” Kelly says.

The Ebby Halliday Companies also appointed longtime leaders within the company Sylvia Sotelo Kidd and Pamela Young Diversity & Inclusion Officers. Since their appointments they have worked diligently to diversify recruitment and ensure that the Ebby Halliday Companies’ offerings reach the widest and most-inclusive group of homeowners and buyers.

Organizations joining the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion pledge have taken a step toward effecting positive change, exchanging tangible learning opportunities, creating collaborative conversations and fostering innovation.

“Diversity and inclusion are vital to the improvement of our work culture, the future of our business and industry, as well as the future of the region we are privileged to call home,” says Kelly. “As the market leader in North Texas, it is our responsibility to take action.”

Kelly says that the Ebby Halliday Companies have recognized that the Southern Sector of Dallas County is underserved by residential real estate brokerages and affiliated services, such as mortgage, insurance and title, and they are actively working to expand their presence in the Southern Sector, including the construction of a new office in Cedar Hill.

“As we expand our Southern Sector presence, we will increase homeownership opportunities and provide expert representation for the area’s buyers and sellers,” says Kelly. “As part of this commitment, we are dedicated to expanding the diversity of our employees and sales force.”

In addition, the Ebby Halliday Companies – which includes three brokerage brands, as well as in-house mortgage, insurance and title brands – recognized the need to hire loan officers from diverse backgrounds and ethnicities in order to best serve North Texas’ increasingly diverse population. Recruiting, hiring and retaining loan officers to better serve the entire North Texas community is one of the company’s stated goals.

“It is a priority for us to provide our clients loan officers that they enjoy working with and who serve their home-buying and selling needs by providing a variety of loan products appropriate to their needs,” says Kelly. “This is an important initiative for us in 2020 and moving forward into the future.”

Real Estate Icon’s Legacy of Service Carried Out Daily Across North Texas

Throughout 2020, the Ebby Halliday Companies are celebrating 75 years of serving the real estate needs of North Texans and those relocating to the region. It all began in 1945, when one bold woman parlayed her wisdom, generosity, business acumen and endurance into what is today the No. 1 residential real estate brokerage in Texas.

“Long life is a privilege not everyone – or every company – gets to enjoy,” says Ebby Halliday Companies President & CEO Chris Kelly. “During this anniversary year, we acknowledge this fact with a spirit of gratitude.”

The legacy of Ebby Halliday, who founded Ebby Halliday Realtors in 1945, is carried out daily in North Texas through 2,000-plus agents and staff across three real estate brands and in-house mortgage, insurance and title companies. It is now amplified by the Ebby Halliday Companies’ affiliation with Berkshire Hathaway affiliate HomeServices of America, the country’s No. 1 residential real estate company.

Acquired by HomeServices in 2018, the Ebby Halliday Companies are modernizing homeownership services and are focused on ensuring that homeownership is available to everyone who wants to own a home in North Texas. Among the company’s primary business objectives in 2020 is furthering access to homeownership opportunities for historically marginalized communities.

The Ebby Halliday Companies include real estate brands Ebby Halliday RealtorsDave Perry-Miller Real Estate and Williams Trew and core-services companies Prosperity MortgageHome Team Insurance and Texas Premier Title

“Simply put, we offer one ‘door’ to everything you need to buy or sell a home in North Texas,” says Kelly.“ Purchasing or selling in any other way would be like going back in time. Our complete offering of brokerage, mortgage, title and insurance homeownership services ensures you have the easiest and most secure real estate experience. In good times and most importantly, in challenging times, we have stood by North Texas and North Texans for over 75 years. It would be our honor to put our experience and strength to work for you.”

Jason Bell has been named sales leader of Ebby Halliday Realtors’ Flower Mound/Lewisville OfficeChris Kelly, president and chief executive officer of the Ebby Halliday Companies, and Carolyn Rosson, vice president of brokerage, recently made the announcement.

Formerly an agent with Ebby’s Plano/Willow Bend Office, Bell was most recently the Agent Development Director in that office and the company’s Preston Plano Parkway Office

“Jason joined Ebby Halliday in 2016 and has built a successful real estate practice by consistently going above and beyond for clients,” Kelly says. Adds Rosson, “Jason has also been an effective mentor for many of our agents. He has a thoughtful communication style that makes him very relatable to the agents he serves.”

Bell succeeds Becky Garrison as sales leader of Ebby’s Flower Mound/Lewisville Office. Garrison has chosen to return to being a full-time agent in the office Bell will lead.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as sales leader of this office, working with some of the best agents in the business,” Garrison says. “I have missed, however, the everyday interaction with clients in real estate sales and want to return to that side of the business. I believe that Jason is just the right person for this job. He brings new energy and ideas and is great with education, technology and social media. Jason and I have worked together for some time now to ensure that this leadership transition will be a smooth one and that this will be a very positive experience for our Flower Mound/Lewisville agents.”

“I strongly believe that my way is not the only way,” Bell adds. “I’m more interested in learning about what an agent is comfortable doing and then helping them maximize the opportunities.”

Born in Dallas and raised in the Lake Highlands area, Bell is a graduate of Texas Tech University. He and his wife Amy have three children and enjoy spending time boating, fishing, golfing and watching their children play sports.

Diane Hausler Named Sales Leader of Ebby’s Plano Office

Diane Hausler is the new sales leader of Ebby Halliday Realtors’ Plano Office. Chris Kelly, president and chief executive officer of the Ebby Halliday Companies, and Malinda Howell, vice president of brokerage, recently made the announcement. Hausler will also continue in her role as sales leader of Ebby’s Allen Office.

“We are thrilled Diane has accepted this additional responsibility and know she is absolutely the right person at the right time in just the right roles,” says Kelly. “She is the perfect person to succeed Kay Wright, who has been an incredible leader within our organization and a trusted friend and partner to all of us. Kay recently earned the National Association of Realtors’ Realtor Emeritus status and we are so grateful for her leadership over the years.”

Wright, who recently announced her intention to retire from the Plano sales leader position at the end of June, began her real estate career in 1977 and has led Ebby’s Plano Office for 18 years. In an interesting circle of events, Wright opened Ebby’s Allen Office while managing its Plano Office and Hausler was her office administrator in Plano before becoming sales leader of the Allen Office.

“Kay Wright was an amazing mentor and I’m looking forward to following in her footsteps,” says Hausler, who started as an Ebby agent in 2002 and has been the sales leader of the Allen Office for 10 years.

A servant leader, Hausler enjoys mentoring new and experienced agents and helping them grow their business.

“I always try to place myself in an agent’s position,” she says. “I am ever-mindful of their needs, the needs of our valued clients and the needs of our communities.”

With over 20 years of experience in real estate sales and leadership, Hausler is known for developing positive and supportive cultures. As a graduate of the Texas Realtor Leadership Program and a Broker associate, her goal is to provide the training and mentorship necessary to develop successful agents. She holds the National Association of Realtors’ At Home with Diversity designation, as well as the Accredited Buyer Representative and e-Pro designations.

Hausler, who has deep Texas roots, has been married to her husband for 38 years. The couple share three children and four grandchildren. When not working (which is not often), she enjoys traveling and spending time outdoors.

“I am honored and excited to take on this expanded leadership role,” Hausler adds. “I’m looking forward to continuing to build on our Plano office’s extraordinary success and growing our brand as Ebby Halliday celebrates 75 years of serving North Texas.”

Harold Decena has been named Vice President of Corporate Real Estate Services for the Ebby Halliday Companies. Chris Kelly, president and chief executive officer of the Ebby Halliday Companies, and Betsy Cameron, vice president of business initiatives, recently made the announcement.

“Harold is a widely admired veteran of the relocation services industry,” Kelly said. “Having led relocation departments at two firms, as well as having effectively served the Ebby Halliday Companies for the past several years in a relocation-services management capacity, Harold is the perfect person to succeed Karen Greene, one of the industry’s most-admired professionals.”

Greene, who recently announced her intention to retire at the end of June, has been a relocation director in North Texas for 35 years. Having long planned to retire in 2020, she has mentored Decena with the goal of a seamless transition in mind.

Greene says that among the things she has most enjoyed about working at the Ebby Halliday Companies are the respect the iconic brand commands nationwide and its long-established relocation department.

“I also enjoyed that every day was different,” Greene says. “In the relocation business, you deal with human beings and a very important part of their lives – their homes. I loved working our agents and the years flew by for me.”

Decena will lead one of the nation’s most-respected and largest in-house Relocation Departments.

“I’m excited to be associated with a company that has deeply established roots,” Decena says. “I consider it an honor to help further the visibility Karen and our team have built in the relocation referral landscape.

“My intention is to build on the success she has established and to further our local and national reputation as a department that helps make relocation a seamless experience for clients,” he says. “I want our clients to have an exceptional experience, but I also want our agents to have a great one. We are so fortunate to have an amazing team of agents at the Ebby Halliday Companies.”

Decena, a licensed real estate agent who also holds the Certified Relocation Professional designation from the Worldwide Employee Relocation Council, will lead a department of eight relocation professionals who are known nationwide for their ability to facilitate the real estate referral process – both incoming and outgoing.

“My leadership style is performance and data driven – it’s all about the results,” Decena says. “I want every member of our department to have the tools necessary to succeed. I genuinely want to help each team member achieve his or her goals. I see myself as their partner in achieving success. At the end of the day, it’s about providing an exceptional real estate experience while continuing to build a respected department and collaborative relationships with our agents and sales leaders.”

In Good Times and Bad, We Stand with You

In Good Times and Bad, We Stand with You

Together, the North Texas region has faced one of modern history’s most serious challenges: the COVID-19 pandemic. Companies, like individuals, responded to the pandemic, as well as those who rely on their services, in different – often strikingly different – ways.

“As the Ebby Halliday Companies mark 75 years of serving the residential real estate needs of North Texas during 2020, we are grateful for your continued support and we are honored to have served many of our neighbors during this challenging time,” says Chris Kelly, president & CEO of the Ebby Halliday Companies. Ebby Halliday’s real estate brands include Ebby Halliday Realtors, Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate and Williams Trew. Its Core Services companies include Prosperity Mortgage, Home Team Insurance, Texas Premier Title and HSTX Title.

“Within days of COVID-19 arriving in North Texas, we witnessed every major iBuyer close their doors to our community,” Kelly says. iBuyers are major real estate investment firms that use automated-valuation models and other technology to make cash offers on homes. “At a time when people needed shelter more than ever, these iBuyers’ viewed you and your home as a financial risk they were unwilling to take.”

“We, and other longstanding brokerages who have served you through wars, recessions and other times of great stress, saw the real risk of this approach: abandoning you in the middle of a crisis,” Kelly says. “We may be competitors with these brokerages in real estate, but we are partners and we thank them for standing with us in our continued service to you, our neighbors across this great region.

“As the state of Texas continues its phased re-opening, and as iBuyers undoubtedly return to our market, we ask that when the need arises you consider selecting an Ebby Halliday Companies agent to represent your residential real estate needs,” Kelly says. “In good times and in bad times, we are here for you.”

When buying or selling a home, selecting the right broker – one who will stay by your side throughout the often-complicated process – is critical to your experience and success. In addition to 75 years of service to North Texas, the Ebby Halliday Companies are committed to the homeownership dreams of everyone who calls North Texas home.

“When you choose the Ebby Halliday Companies to represent your real estate needs, you’ll not only have access to the most respected and knowledgeable agents in North Texas – who are part of HomeServices of America and the Berkshire Hathaway family – but also our mortgage, insurance and title services,” says Kelly.

Too often in today’s world, consumers are asked to choose between a technology or a traditional company to fulfill their real estate needs. No more. From home showings to mortgages, insurance to closings, when you choose the Ebby Halliday Companies everything can be completed efficiently and if needed, virtually.

“Our complete offering of brokerage, mortgage, title and insurance homeownership services ensures you’ll have the easiest and most secure real estate experience,” Kelly says. “When combined with the personal touch of a local expert associated with North Texas’ leading residential real estate brokerage, it simply is an unmatched experience. It would be our honor to put our experience and strength to work for you.”

D-FW Market Likely to Emerge Healthy From COVID-19

D-FW Market Likely to Emerge Healthy From COVID-19

Texas’ largest markets, including Dallas-Fort Worth, are among the U.S. metros least likely to experience a major housing shakeout from the COVID-19 pandemic, according to new research reported here by Dallas Morning News real estate reporter Steve Brown.

The research, by analysts at Attom Data Solutions, found housing markets that will be most negatively affected by COVID-19 and the resulting economic challenges are mostly in the Northeast and Florida.

Researchers looked at almost 500 home markets around the country and rated them based on foreclosures, homeowner equity, wages and other factors.

“It’s too early to tell how much effect the coronavirus fallout will have on different housing markets around the country,” said Attom Data’s Todd Teta. “But the impact is likely to be significant from region to region and county to county. What we’ve done is spotlight areas that appear to be more or less at risk based on several important factors.

“From that analysis, it looks like the Northeast is more at risk than other areas,” Teta said. “As we head into the spring homebuying season, the next few months will reveal how severe the impact will be.”

Attom Data estimates the major housing markets most at risk from the virus include four in New Jersey and the New York area, three in Connecticut and 10 from Florida. Only one was in California, and none were located in other West Coast states.

“Texas has 10 of the 50 least vulnerable counties from among the 483 included in the report, followed by Wisconsin with seven and Colorado with five,” according to Attom Data. “The 10 counties in Texas include three in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro (Dallas, Collin and Tarrant counties).
