Only 79 More Shopping Days Til Christmas

Dallas-based Neiman Marcus, the mother ship of luxury retail, unveiled their 2009 Christmas Book today.

Among this year’s fantasy gifts are a cupcake-shaped electric car for kids (there’s also a 2010 Jaguar XJL super-charged sedan, complete with a set of luggage that matches the car’s leather interior, for the big kids on your list), the world’s fastest electric motorcycle, his and hers sports aircrafts with pilot training for two and an Algonquin Round Table Experience which includes dinner for two at New York’s Algonquin Hotel with eight famous authors including Malcolm Gladwell, John Lithgow and Nora Ephron.

And in response to the current economy, NM points out that about 40% of the items in this year’s catalog are priced below $250. Call it “recession-chic”.

You can read more about today’s launch here from The Dallas Morning News and see the catalog for yourself here.

Another Fall Cover Home

The design wizards at Dr. Delphinium Designs & Events have done it again. Last week they created another Fall masterpiece at the great new listing of Joe Kobell at 5106 Shadywood Drive in Bluffview. This time, the weather was much more fitting of the season than for our first Fall ad shoot.

You can see some behind the scenes footage of the creation of the final photograph below. You can also see the finished product in tomorrow’s Dallas Morning News – back page of the Business Tuesday Section and in the November/December issue of D Home.

It’s not even Halloween yet and it’s already time to start searching for the perfect Holiday Home – stay tuned!

Expert Opinions On The State Of Dallas Luxury Real Estate Market

Some of the area s top luxury home experts recently attended a Fall market overview and 4th Quarter prediction by home appraisal experts Brad Edgar, President, Edgar Appraisal Services, D.W. Skelton, President, D.W. Skelton and Associates and mortgage specialist, David Chance, Sr. Loan Consultant, The Lending Partners. These gentlemen came together for an afternoon focused on the market outlook for the next six months, specifically as it relates to the luxury home market.

The event was hosted and organized by sales associate Lynn Gardner Collins, a senior vice president with Ellen Terry, Realtors and sponsored by Mr. Chance and The Lending Partners. The setting was Ms. Collins listing at 10647 Strait Lane, a home inspired by an historic 19th century Louisiana plantation where guests were greeted with hundreds of pumpkins, fall foliage and garlands by Dr Delphinium Designs & Events.

Below are highlights from the presentation:

53 Years In The Making

In early August, the front page article of the White Rock neighborsgo section of The Dallas Morning News featured a story about 97-year-old Raymond Ogas of Vickery Place. In the article, Mr. Ogas stated that he had lived in the same house that he bought from Ebby Halliday herself back in 1956.

Ebby read the article and wanted to follow up with her past client.

Last Saturday, Ebby, 98, and Mr. Ogas were reunited. They traded stories and shared a glass of lemonade on on the front porch of the home Ebby sold him 53 years ago.

You can read more about their meeting here or see a slideshow below.

Ebby s John C. Weber Speaks at 2009 REAL Trends Innovation Conference

This morning, Ebby Associate John C. Weber of the Hickman + Weber Group served on a top agent panel discussion, What Do Agents Value in a Brokerage Firm Today? , at the 2009 REAL Trends Innovation Conference. John cited reputation, education and training as the reasons he chose Ebby Halliday and said he remains with the company for those same reasons as well as the support at both the office and corporate level.

We have a dynamic office environment I love the ability to share knowledge and even to gain business from being in our office. In fact, that s how I got my very first lead when I started in the business one of our top producers at the time had both sides of a transaction and approached me in the office to represent the buyer. I did and that lead actually produced two additional transactions via referrals.

He also stated that even in this different market, the Hickman + Weber Group is on track to have their best year ever by going back to basics, making a solid business plan and following through with that plan.

Held at the beautiful Four Seasons Resort & Club in Las Colinas, the conference was attended by broker/owners, CEOs, presidents, COOs, senior managers, marketing directors and technology directors from the leading residential real estate firms, association executives, senior managers of the national real estate franchise firms, relocation companies and referral networks and mortgage and title companies.

Pictured above from this morning s closing session are Paul Boomsma, president of Luxury Portfolio Fine Property Collection and executive vice president of marketing for The Leading Real Estate Companies of the World, John C. Weber and Randall Graham, vice president & director of marketing for The Ebby Halliday Companies.
