Today Ebby was tapped for the Methodist Health System Foundation’s video tribute to Norman Brinker, who will receive the 2009 Methodist Health System Folsom Leadership Awardduring a dinner to be held at the Hilton Anatole Hotel, May 15. Established in 2005, the award recognizes individuals whose demonstrated commitment and excellence in community leadership emulates the achievements of former Dallas Mayor Robert S. Folsom.
Filmed at a mock Chili’s restaurant at the Brinker International headquarters in North Dallas, Ebby is sitting with retired employees Lou Neeb, CEO for Steak & Ale/Chili’s and John Titus, a Steak & Ale executive, as all three tell stories about their good friend Norman Brinker.
Ebby talked about her courtship with husband Maurice in the late 60’s, which often took place at the Bachman Lake Steak & Ale. It was Maurice who introduced her to Mr. Brinker and started a friendship that has spanned over 40 years. Ebby talked about her love for Norman and how he is a business icon and philanthropist, having done so much for the community and especially young people.
“He has the most incredible character and tenacity, and is a role model for overcoming adversity,” said Halliday.
