Ebby Halliday Companies Set the Bar High for Agent/Staff Retention

These days, no one stays in one workplace for 25 years. Unless, of course, they really want to. And apparently 14 Ebby Halliday and Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate agents really want to.

On Wednesday, September 21, these seasoned real estate professionals gathered along with sales leaders and home office executives, at Al Biernat’s North in Addison for a special celebratory lunch. Last year, the Ebby Halliday Companies fêted 43 such 25-year anniversaries, so the ranks just keep swelling.

Not Pictured: Pam Boronski (Ebby Plano West), Carolyn Casselberry (Ebby Arlington), Helen Curry (Ebby Plano), Prissy Pulley (Ebby Plano), Genie Rousseau (Ebby Lakewood | Lake Highlands).

As they raised a glass, Ebby Halliday Companies President Carolyn Rosson praised the recipients in her remarks.

“You all lead the culture,” she said. “You are the reason other agents want to join our firm. It’s because of you, the way you serve your clients and the way that you do business. So thank you, thank you, thank you.”

As for why someone may stay at the Ebby Halliday Companies so long, DPMRE Lakewood agent Susan Nelson Wheeler provided a bit of insight.

“I started at Ebby Halliday a long time ago,” she said. “I get a lot of offers to come with other companies and I always tell them, ‘I’m not leaving. There’s no reason to leave.’ They support us in every way. They’re always thinking of new ways they can do things to make our lives easier.”

About his decision to join from another brokerage 25 years prior, Ebby Southwest Dallas | Ellis Co. agent Greg Hutchinson added, “I think the thing that made the difference with Ebby was the reputation of the company. The fact that when I went into somebody’s home to discuss the sale of their house, I had that company name behind me and that carried a lot of weight. They may not have known me from Adam, but they certainly knew the name Ebby Halliday.”

Senior Vice President, Brokerage Malinda Howell summed up the overall vibe of the occasion by saying, “This is an iconic company with iconic people. I think you are all living out our mission of ‘People First,’ and we are so honored to continue to have you. That doesn’t mean you can go anywhere – you’ve got 25 more years here. Who’s in?”

Tiffany Anderson Named Sales Leader of Ebby’s Prosper | Celina Office

Tiffany Anderson is the new sales leader of Ebby Halliday Realtors’ Prosper | Celina Office. Anderson will also continue in her role as sales leader of Ebby’s McKinney Office. Chris Kelly, president and chief executive officer of the Ebby Halliday Companies, and Carolyn Rosson, senior vice president of brokerage, recently made the announcement.

“We are thrilled Tiffany has accepted this expanded leadership role and we know she is absolutely the right person at the right time in just the right roles,” says Kelly. “Tiffany brings a thorough understanding of all aspects of real estate, from marketing and lead generation to working effectively with clients through closing and beyond.”

“A licensed residential real estate agent since 2003, Tiffany joined Ebby Halliday in 2010 and has built a successful real estate practice by consistently going above and beyond for clients,” Rosson says. “Tiffany has also been an effective mentor for many agents. She has the perfect background and experience to fulfill this important role.”

Raised in real estate, Anderson’s journey began as a small child observing her late grandmother as she worked as a professional agent. A natural problem solver, innovative and people-oriented, Tiffany followed in her grandmother’s footsteps. A successful business built on referrals is a testament to the personal service and professionalism Tiffany has delivered throughout her career.

A longtime agent whose transition into management has been an organic one, Anderson says she is, at heart, a servant leader. “I get a lot of joy from motivating people and I have always approached work as service. I want to serve our Prosper | Celina and McKinney agents and the wonderful North Texas community I’m privileged to call home.”

Anderson, who holds the Graduate, Realtor Institute designation, is a graduate of St. Edwards University. She is an active volunteer and is married with three boys who are themselves active in sports and the outdoors. She enjoys yoga, dancing, gardening, boating, biking and traveling, as well as playing sports with her boys and watching them play sports.

“I couldn’t be more excited to take on this new role in Ebby’s Prosper | Celina Office,” says Anderson. “I consider it a new way to give back to the industry I love, and I am very much looking forward to using the professional skills I have developed to help new and established agents take their real estate careers to the next level.”

25-Year Anniversaries Not Such a Rarity at the Ebby Halliday Companies

In an age when many professionals change jobs often and easily, staying in one place for 25 years is definitely not something you see often.

Yet an incredible 43 people at the Ebby Halliday Companies recently achieved that very milestone. Those 43 – independent contractor agents and office staff from the Ebby Halliday Realtors, Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate and Williams Trew brands – were celebrated Wednesday with a special luncheon at Sixty Vines in Uptown Dallas. Because of a COVID delay, some had already progressed from 25 to 26 and 27 years.

CEO Chris Kelly, who addressed the honorees and presented each with a diamond pin, said this about the afternoon.

“It was my absolute pleasure to celebrate these team members who have been part of the Ebby Halliday Companies for 25 years or more. We fully appreciate that this kind of loyalty is not the norm in the real estate industry – especially in today’s climate of plentiful options. We think that makes a loud statement about the culture Ebby built here and that we’ve been working hard to maintain.”

EHC is big on acknowledging such milestones – internally and externally – along with those around production, personal bests, landmark closings, incentive contests and more. It’s not uncommon to get a video email from Kelly himself, congratulating an agent for a key sale or overcoming a challenge. Vice Presidents Carolyn Rosson and Malinda Howell as well as the company’s 28 Sales Leaders also champion their people any chance they get. The brand is known for being as supportive and encouraging as Ebby Halliday herself was.

Could that be the key to why so many stick around? Here’s what some of those celebrating that day said.

Carolyn McCann | Williams Trew | Office Administrator

“I began my career with Ebby Halliday and have greatly enjoyed working for a company that was ‘out in front’ on extending opportunities to women. They also make it a priority to provide agents and employees with many incredible mentors and role models to guide us. There is a feeling of belonging to a family when you work here, and I am still so very proud to call this place home after all these years.”

Janice Berg | Ebby Halliday Realtors | Sales Associate

“I had been living in Frisco since 1977 and had the opportunity to go to the groundbreaking for the Ebby office there 25 years ago. I had my license with another company at the time. I was standing behind Miss Ebby herself and I told her I would love to talk to her about becoming an Ebby agent because I had heard so many good things about the company. She yelled out to the future manager and said, ‘Here’s our first Ebby Frisco agent. Let’s all go to lunch tomorrow!’ And the rest is history. I did become the first agent. And I can’t thank this company enough for what it’s done for me and my family.”

Brian Smith | Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate | Sales Associate

“Prior to 1984, I had been buying and selling my own real estate. I grew up in Dallas and heard the Ebby name and knew all about the Little White House. I decided to go with them. In fact, during my training is where I met my wife Leslie Rouda Smith (current NAR President). It’s been a really good experience for our family (daughter Kristin and son Austin are also with DPMRE). The reasons I chose them? The excellence, the reputation, the professionalism and the name. The training classes and the continuing education – you just can’t beat them. They keep us very well informed and up on any changes in real estate matters. It’s been a very good career.”

Congratulations to all and thank you for your extraordinary commitment to service!

These Ebby Halliday Companies Veeps Are Helping Keep a Legacy Alive

Carolyn Rosson (left) and Malinda Brownlee Howell at the Ebby Halliday Companies Home Office Training Center in Plano

The great thing about being a 76-year old company is the automatic credibility and respect amassed each passing year. Like people, companies don’t last that long unless they’re taking care of themselves and living ‘in the now’ with valuable purpose.

The Ebby Halliday Companies are doing both of those things – with the help of two women in leadership who wholeheartedly believe in where the company came from and where it’s going.

Carolyn Rosson and Malinda Brownlee Howell each serve as Vice President, Brokerage, over the three EHC brands: Ebby Halliday RealtorsDave Perry-Miller Real Estate, and Williams Trew. Both were in the field for many years, and served as Sales Leaders, too. They complement each other with their unique giftings and have a strong partnership.

“We are in these roles to advocate for agents,” says Howell. “By working closely with the Sales Leaders and offices, we hope to ultimately help create the most efficient real estate transactions possible. They know they can reach out to us at any time as mentors, coaches, and cheerleaders. We are accessible and we listen. We also stay on top of what’s happening in the market and industry so we can share these changes with everyone. Carolyn and I have been very active on a local, state, and national level with various associations, and the connections we’ve made throughout the years are available for anyone to tap into.”

Howell and Rosson in North Carolina this September staying strong in their Ninja Selling skills.

Both Howell and Rosson knew Ebby Halliday Acers personally and have made it their professional mission to “bridge the gap” for the new generation of agents who never had the chance to work with her or learn from her.

“Even though the company has a new face,” says Rosson, “it still very much has the same heart. And while we’re moving in a new direction in some respects, we want to ensure we don’t stray from those foundational tenets that were part of who Ebby was, and then became part of who we are. The ethics, integrity, and focus on community are part of our training and culture, and I think they are key differentiators when choosing a brokerage as either a client or an agent.”

Ebby’s renown as a trailblazer comes up frequently in conversation around the home office as leadership talks strategy and innovation.

“She set us up so well for the future just by being fearless,” says Howell. “Ebby was passionate about advancing women in the workplace before it was even cool to do so. She gave widows and young professionals opportunities they would never have received elsewhere, including Mary Frances Burleson, who went from administrative assistant to CEO. It’s one reason we have so many capable women in leadership roles here.”

Howell and Rosson addressing agents during a pre-pandemic Honor Roll luncheon.

Rosson continues, “And racial equity was always on her radar, simply because it was the right thing to do. She would be so proud of our accomplishments there, led by our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Council, like community lending programs, translation services, LGBTQ support, and more.”

As Rosson and Howell contemplate the growth the brokerage has seen in recent years – expanding to Cedar Creek and Richland Chambers lakes, north into Oklahoma, and west into Parker County – they are heartened by what they feel is the spirit of Ebby living on in the brands and look forward to keeping it alive through their respective roles. Stacey Buettner is committed to North Texas and the real estate industry. I truly believe that we found that partner in Ebby Halliday.”

In addition to the latest and most relevant real estate technologies, as well as an integrated mortgage, title and insurance experience, Johnson Monroe agents joining Ebby Halliday will benefit from the firm’s longtime affiliation with Leading Real Estate Companies of the World, a global network of more than 550 premier real estate brokers, and its luxury division, Luxury Portfolio International. “I knew I could learn so much from working with Mike and Pam Harvey,” Young says. “They are so widely admired and respected. Both Mike and Pam have been great mentors and so helpful to me over the years.”
