Streetcars Coming to Oak Cliff in April

Streetcars Coming to Oak Cliff in April

On April 13, Dallas Area Rapid Transit will launch its much-anticipated street-car service from downtown Dallas’ Union Station to Methodist Dallas Medical Center in North Oak Cliff.

The approximately $50 million project is the first phase of a plan to eventually link the Bishop Arts District to Uptown. And that larger plan is part of an even bigger vision that DART has for increasing transit options in downtown Dallas. The transit agency wants to increase the number of cars each train pulls through downtown and add a second light-rail line in the city’s center.

There’s no word yet on when the second phase of the streetcar project will reach Bishop Arts, but it’s likely to be late this year or early next year, according to Dallas Morning News transportation blogger Brandy Formby.

We love that Dallas is becoming more mass-transit friendly. Did you know that ebby.com offers Dallas-area homebuyers the ability to search for their next home based on its proximity to DART light-rail service? Click here to get started today.

As DART light-rail service arrives at D/FW International Airport today, North Texas’ favorite residential real estate website, ebby.com, introduces Rail Station Proximity Home Search. For the first time ever you’ll enjoy the ability to search for your next Dallas-area home based on its proximity to light-rail!

“Whether it’s frequent trips to the airport, commuting to your job at the Medical Center, shopping at Mockingbird Station, or enjoying the occasional concert at the American Airlines Center in Victory Park, with ebby.com’s new Rail Station Proximity Home Search you’ll be the first to know about homes for sale – and for lease – near the rail station of your choice,” says Randall Graham, vice president and director of marketing for Ebby Halliday Realtors.

Rail Station Proximity Home Search offers the ability to search for homes not only by proximity to rail stations, but also to narrow searches by price range and number of bedrooms and baths. Matching properties are displayed with full details, up to 25 photos, community information, a map, a mortgage calculator and nearby properties.

“At Ebby Halliday Realtors, we’re happy to witness the growth of mass-transit in North Texas and are equally happy to offer homebuyers and sellers the benefits of Rail Station Proximity Home Search on ebby.com,” Graham says. “For many years Ebby Halliday has been at the forefront of the smart use of technology in residential real estate, and we’re proud to be the first in Dallas-Fort Worth to offer this forward-thinking home-search capability.”
