Santa Cops Toy Drive Under Way

Santa Cops Toy Drive Under Way

At Ebby Halliday Realtors, we’re proud to serve as a drop-off location for the 2016 Santa Cops toy drive. The drives continues through December 12.

In 1984, Dallas Police officers created and developed Santa Cops, a program designed to assist members of the community who have been victims of crime.

The Santa Cops program has assisted over 10,000 families throughout the years. In recent years, the program has been able to help more than 600 families annually.

New for 2016 is the addition of Kate’s Books! Kate is an officer’s daughter who had the idea to include books along with toy deliveries. This year’s goal is to collect and donate 1,500 new or gently used books to less-fortunate families.

The Santa Cops project typically delivers the fruits of its efforts on the Saturday before Christmas to the citizens of Dallas. The best part? Watching children’s faces when officers bring toys to their home.

Items needed:

*  new, unwrapped toys for children of all ages

*  new or lightly used books (see

*  diapers

*  new blankets, robes, slippers

At Ebby Halliday Elementary Reading Opens Doors

This past Friday members of the Ebby Halliday family spent the morning reading to students at Ebby Halliday Elementary.

Sales Manager Terri Wheeler of Ebby’s Southwest Dallas/Ellis County Office, Preston Center Associate Howard Roth, 190-Richardson Associate Dawn Redmond, Southwest Dallas/Ellis County Associate Karen James and eResource Manager Pamela Young all took time out of their busy schedules to share their love of reading – and their belief that reading can opens the doors to great opportunities and adventures – with the students of the southern Dallas elementary school named for our company’s founder, Ebby Halliday Acers.

At Ebby Halliday Elementary Reading Opens Doors

Ebby, who passed away in 2015 at the age of 104, believed strongly in the value of education. As a child, she attended a one-room schoolhouse. Through education, perseverance and just plain hard work – and the ever-growing and accomplished team she assembled around her – Ebby went on to create what is today America’s 10th-largest residential real estate company by sales volume.

At Ebby Halliday Elementary Reading Opens Doors

In her book, “Ebby Halliday: The First Lady of Real Estate” by Michael Poss, Ebby advised readers to “Make the most of opportunities to learn. Go to college, take special courses, read, listen, observe, and get out there and participate.” Ebby’s advice remains sage for young readers like those at Ebby Halliday Elementary and older readers alike.

Ebby Halliday Elementary School is a multi-cultural community of parents, stakeholders and staff dedicated to the development of a respectful and supportive learning environment. Students are challenged each and every day to reach their full potential as responsible individuals. We’re proud to be a part of supporting the great kids at Ebby Halliday Elementary and look forward to seeing them excel in school – and in life.

North Texas Giving Day is Today

North Texas Giving Day is Today

Today, September 22, is North Texas Giving Day, a day when we can all come together and rally behind the nonprofits that make our community a better place to live, work and play. Until midnight tonight, you’re encouraged to donate to more than 2,000 certified nonprofits at

In just seven years, North Texas Giving Day has pumped more than $119 million into the North Texas community – over $33 million in 2015 alone. All gifts of $25 to $50,000 given today will be amplified by some of the more than $2 million in bonus and prize funds. These funds are raised by Communities Foundation of Texas and come from businesses, foundations and individual donors. Some nonprofits have additional challenge grants to further amplify donations.

At Ebby Halliday Realtors, service to the community is one of our founding principles. Three charities particularly close to our heart are WiNGS (formerly YWCA of Metropolitan Dallas), home of Ebby’s Place, which serves as a place for poor working women to change their lives; Juliette Fowler Communities, site of The Ebby House, a new community for young women who have aged out of the foster-care system; and Happy Hill Farm, a 500-acre farm near Granbury that is home to North Central Texas Academy. The Ebby Halliday Acers Library is located at Happy Hill Farm.

Whichever North Texas charity you choose to support, please visit today to make a difference in our community.

Kick-Off Event Supports Deserving Students

At Ebby Halliday, we’re big on little folks and the communities they create. We’re also proud to have been a return sponsor of the Dallas Cowboys Kickoff Luncheon benefiting the Dallas Cowboys Courage House at Happy Hill Farm.

AT&T Stadium was the place to be earlier today as the playing field at Jerry World hosted hundreds for the annual luncheon benefiting The Dallas Cowboys Courage House at Happy Hill Farm. The event was attended by the entire Dallas Cowboys organization, Happy Hill Farm students and supporters from throughout the North Texas region.

Happy Hill Farm is a 500-acre farm that is home to North Central Texas Academy, an independent, accredited, coeducational, interdenominational college-preparatory, day, boarding and international school near Granbury. Boys and girls ages 5 to 18 live, work and study at Happy Hill Farm, which accepts no federal or state funding.

Traditionally, more than 90 percent of North Central Texas Academy’s budget has come from donations within the private community from caring individuals, corporations and foundations. The Academy seeks out underserved students and provides scholarships in order that these highly motivated boys and girls receive the opportunity to learn, commit, grow, and eventually assume positions of responsibility and leadership in society.

For many years Happy Hill Farm Academy has been near and dear to the Ebby Halliday Companies. The Ebby Halliday Library is located at Happy Hill’s new academic complex.

We’re proud of our association with Happy Hill Farm and encourage you to consider making a donation in honor of Happy Hill founder Ed Shipman’s remarkable life. Mr. Shipman passed away August 22. Memorials may be made here or by mail at Happy Hill Farm, 3846 North Highway 144, Granbury, Texas, 76048.

Happy Hill Farm Founder Ed Shipman Passes Away

Happy Hill Farm Founder Passes Away

Today we remember a great man who exemplified Ebby’s motto of “Do Something for Someone Every Day” throughout his life, C. Edward Shipman, Sr.

Mr. Shipman founded Happy Hill Farm, now home to North Central Texas Academy, in 1975 and spent the next four decades changing the futures of thousands of children. It was always one of Ebby’s favorite charitable causes and one that Ebby Halliday Realtors remains committed to today.

Ed Shipman built and operated Happy Hill without state or federal funds. Initially, Happy Hill took in only troubled young people ages 4 through 18.

Said Mr. Shipman in 1986, “All the children who come here are in the midst of some kind of failure cycle. If you can turn that self-image around, you’re a long way down the line toward success.”

Happy Hill later added a day school operation and accepted international students. The name was changed to North Central Texas Academy at Happy Hill Farm. Today, Happy Hill is home to students from 17 countries and continues to change young lives for the better each and every day.

We’re proud of our association with Happy Hill Farm and encourage you to consider making a donation in honor of Ed Shipman’s remarkable life. Memorials may be made here or by mail at Happy Hill Farm, 3846 North Highway 144, Granbury, Texas, 76048.
