Doug Selzer Named Sales Leader of Lakewood | Lake Highlands Office


Doug Selzer has been named Sales Leader of Ebby Halliday Realtors’ Lakewood | Lake Highlands Office. Chris Kelly, president and chief executive officer of the Ebby Halliday Companies, and Malinda Howell, vice president of brokerage, recently made the announcement.

A member of the Ebby Halliday family since 2012, Selzer has served as an agent in the office he will be overseeing. He is an active member of the East Dallas community, has served as the East Dallas MLS Representative for MetroTex Association of Realtors and serves as both a mentor in the Ebby Lakewood | Lake Highlands office as well as an instructor for the Ebby EDGE (Education/Discipline/Growth/Excellence) orientation program. 

“Doug has earned a reputation not only as a top producer along with his wife Elizabeth, but someone that lives our People First mission in the way he treats his clients and other agents,” Kelly says. Selzer succeeds Rene Barrera, a respected industry veteran who recently took the helm at Ebby’s 190 – Richardson Office after Malinda Howell stepped aside to focus solely on her role as vice president of brokerage of the Ebby Halliday Companies. 

Prior to real estate, Selzer had an extensive background in senior management and leadership within the banking and financial services sectors. This position, he feels, is a natural extension of his career path.

“I have a long history of sales, customer service and management,” he says. “The best part of every role has been helping people – whether it is helping a client buy or sell a house, or helping a new agent be successful in their real estate career.” 

Asked what he will bring to his new role, Selzer replies, “I am a collaborator. I want to work with new and experienced agents alike to share ideas – processes and procedures – that will make everyone better. I also see our office as a resource for the community. Of course, we want to help people buy or sell a house, but I also see us as being a go-to source of real estate information for those who live and work in the area.”

Selzer is a Certified Negotiation Expert and a Historic Home Specialist, in addition to a ‘D Best’ Real Estate Agent since 2018 and an Advocate ‘Top 25 Realtor’ since 2015. He is a graduate of Hampden-Sydney College with a degree in Economics and is married to Lakewood | Lake Highlands agent Elizabeth Selzer. They have two sons. Jill Reagor Smith Named EHC Success Coach


The Ebby Halliday Companies have appointed Jill Reagor Smith to a new position at the North Texas-based residential real estate services firm: Success Coach. Chris Kelly, President and Chief Executive Officer, recently made the announcement.

She is married to Brian, a real estate appraiser, and the couple has an 18-year-old son, Spencer. She particularly enjoys volunteering, designing jewelry and cooking. Her other great passion is spending time with family and friends at the family’s Texas Hill Country ranch.

Helping Neighbors, Honoring 75 Years of Service

To mark our 75th anniversary as a leading real estate provider, we chose to honor this legacy by hosting a fundraising drive across our approximately 2,000 agents and employees to support the North Texas Food Bank and the Tarrant Area Food Bank. Ebby employees reached out to their networks to raise funds for hunger-relief in North Texas at a time when food bank services are needed more than ever due to the ongoing economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

“Our agents’ work and efforts this year have resulted in a thriving real estate market during a pandemic,” said President and CEO Chris Kelly. “But we know there are so many more in our community who are struggling, and this is a year, more so than ever, to really support them.”

The impact of the pandemic is a driving factor in the Ebby Halliday Companies’ focus on community outreach and charitable giving as we celebrate 75 years of service. And in this season of giving thanks, our storied brand saw a great opportunity to showcase how collaboration and partnership strengthens our communities. 

As the employee giving campaign entered its final push leading up to Thanksgiving, the board of the Ebby Halliday Foundation made a matching gift offer. The Foundation provided a $2 match for every $1 donated (up to $30,000), tripling donations and encouraging agents to meet – and surpass – the $75,000 goal. We are thrilled as a company that not only did we meet the goal, we raised $110,000, providing 330,000 meals for our neighbors across North Texas.

Ebby Halliday Companies Announce Home Office Move

Completed with attention to detail by Dallas-based Conceptual Interiors, Ebby’s new corporate office features approximately 17,000 square feet of space that better meets today’s work needs with a focus on employee collaboration. Given today’s modern work environment and needs, the new space is deliberately smaller than the previous space which was over 34,000 square feet. However, you would never know it when you walk the space with its increased use of glass-enclosed offices and conference rooms, a nostalgic 30-foot wall mural of Ebby overlooking downtown Dallas in the 1950s, a video and photo studio, and a shaded outdoor courtyard.

Sales Leaders Earn NAR Diversity Certification

Ebby’s in-house recruiting is recognized among the best in the residential real estate industry. Former Director of Recruiting Merry Shuck will transition to a new role as Director of Market Expansion for the Ebby Halliday Companies.
