Catherine Sims has been named Vice President of Core Services for the Ebby Halliday Companies. Chris Kelly, president and CEO, recently made the announcement. Ebby’s affiliated core-service companies include Home Team Mortgage, The Lending Partners, Home Team Insurance and Texas Premier Title.
When making the announcement, Kelly emphasized the Ebby Halliday Companies’ distinct position in the North Texas marketplace as an organization that meets the needs of its sales associates and clients during the entirety of the real estate transaction.
“To ensure this unique distinction and ability remains at the forefront of our business strategy, we have created the role of vice president of core services,” Kelly said. “Catherine Sims possesses an intimate understanding of the strength and capabilities of our core services through her past leadership role within The Lending Partners, where she was frequently at the forefront of connecting and communicating with our sales associates and their clients how our amazing mortgage, title and insurance teams deliver an exceptional experience.”
Sims has been with Home Team Mortgage and The Lending Partners for over 10 years. She has served as a loan originator and in sales-management positions.
Said Sims, “Tom Parker, president of Home Team Mortgage and The Lending Partners, and Betsy Sproat, vice president, have been pivotal in my career. I am grateful for the exceptional mentoring they have provided me over the years.
“My new role will be the ‘glue’ that pulls together each of our core services,” Sims said. “This model has been very successful within the HomeServices family of companies, of which we are a proud member.” The Ebby Halliday Companies became part of HomeServices of America, a Berkshire Hathaway affiliate, in 2018.
“In my mind, there’s no ‘you’ or ‘us,’ it’s just ‘we,’ ” said Sims. “Simply put, at the Ebby Halliday Companies, we are positioned to be grandly successful for both our agents and our clients. No other company in North Texas makes being a one-stop exceptional experience for its agents and home buyers and sellers a priority the way we do. Each and every day, we are helping clients realize a dream. The goal is to make the experience memorable and exciting for them. In doing so, we all have hit a homerun.”

Our clients benefit from the many advantages and resources that are a direct result of Ebby Halliday’s status as the North Texas market-share leader.”
The Power Broker Report honors the business feats of brokerage firms and real estate leaders who shape the industry. In 2014, RISMedia honored Ms. Burleson with its National Homeownership Award, recognizing her important contributions to the residential real estate industry.

Today marks what would have been Ebby Halliday’s 106th birthday. While we miss Ebby dearly, we celebrate the remarkable life she lived and all she did for her adopted hometown and far beyond. At the Ebby Halliday Companies, we know just how large Ebby’s “footprint” was – and we seek every day to follow her extraordinary example.
We were recently reminded of Ebby’s significant impact on the world of real estate – but more importantly on people’s lives – when Pam O’Connor, president and CEO of Leading Real Estate Companies of the World, spoke on nurturing relationships at the organization’s annual conference, held just last week in Miami Beach. She said, “Ebby Halliday was Wikipedia before there was a Wikipedia. If you want to be successful, be like Ebby.” We could not have said it any better.
Ebby founded Ebby Halliday Realtors in 1945. Today, the Dallas-based company is the largest independently owned residential real estate services company in Texas and ranks 10th in the nation. The 72-year-old company, with approximately 1,800 sales associates, participated in over 19,700 property transactions last year with a sales volume of $7.8 billion.
For Ebby, a successful life was about so much more than extraordinary sales figures. She often said her most successful sale was when she “sold” Maurice Acers on marrying her on April 18, 1965. Ebby and Maurice met in a chance encounter while both were on business trips to Beaumont, Texas. A former FBI agent and successful lawyer, Maurice was truly the love of Ebby’s life and her eyes would twinkle whenever she spoke of him.
Ebby’s other great passion was service to the community she proudly called home. Simply put, she and the Ebby Halliday Companies’ philanthropic impact on North Texas cannot be overstated.
Each of us who had the good fortune of knowing Ebby was touched by the grace, fortitude and compassion with which she lived her life. Ebby had a very simple saying that she lived by, “Do something for someone every day.” That small bit of wisdom served Ebby very, very well.
In 1945, Ebby Halliday founded her then one-woman, one-office firm based on three principles of service: service to the client, service to the industry and service to the community.
“For 70 years, our company has exemplified this simple, yet profound, mission,” says President & CEO Mary Frances Burleson. “Each of us at Ebby Halliday Realtors is extremely proud to be part of an organization that places service to others at the forefront of everything we do.”
Each year Ebby Halliday Realtors serves the residential real estate needs of more than 20,000 individuals and families moving to, from and within North Texas, always with the commitment of providing exemplary service during what can be one of life’s most-exciting, yet often stressful, events.
The company’s commitment to its industry is legendary: Ebby Halliday Realtors is the only real estate firm in America to be honored with three National Association of Realtors Distinguished Service Awards. The winners include Founder and philanthropist Ebby Halliday, who passed away September 8 at age 104, the late Posie Willess, and Ms. Burleson.
Ebby Halliday’s third principle, service to the community, has created a dynamic company culture whose philanthropic impact on North Texas cannot be overstated. The firm supports a plethora of community initiatives across North Texas. Just a few of those include the United Way, Vogel Alcove, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra’s DSO on the GO community concert series, the annual Dallas Children’s Health Holiday Parade, the Junior League, and the Plano Symphony Orchestra’s EncoreYouth program.
While Ebby Halliday Realtors is widely respected for its three pillars of service, the company and its Associates are also well known for offering clients the real estate industry’s most cutting-edge technology. Ebby.com and the Ebby Halliday Realtors App are benchmarks in the industry and offer homebuyers and sellers considerable advantages.
Ebby Halliday Realtors also offers clients the advantages of its affiliation with Leading Real Estate Companies of the World and its global luxury-marketing arm, Luxury Portfolio International. Ebby Halliday was a founding member of the LeadingRE network. By tapping into this worldwide network of 120,000 Associates, Ebby Halliday exposes homes to buyers on six continents. In addition, the company receives inbound clients who are interested in purchasing a home in North Texas. Last year the LeadingRE network was responsible for $314 billion in home sales – more than any national real estate brand.
“As the largest in-house relocation team in North Texas, we offer an exhaustive list of services, but the bottom line, in the relocation business, is it all comes down to the agents – having the right people in the right place,” Corporate Real Estate Services Director Karen Greene says. “At Ebby Halliday Realtors, we have a remarkable group of agents who are ready to serve you.”
Adds Chief Financial Officer Ron Burgert, “As we celebrate our company’s 70th anniversary, we thank our valued clients and our hard-working Associates and employees. As we look forward to the next 70 years, we’re more committed than ever to honor Ebby Halliday’s extraordinary legacy through exemplary service to our clients, industry and community.”
Ebby Halliday, the founder of Ebby Halliday Realtors and one of Texas’ most-admired entrepreneurs, celebrates her 104th birthday today! Always committed to following one of her company’s founding principles — service to the community — Ebby is again using her birthday as a way to benefit others.
Ebby has lived a life of service that is truly remarkable — a life that has positively impacted literally thousands of people along the way. So, it’s not surprising that Ebby has asked, that in lieu of gifts, if you would like to honor her birthday that you make a donation to Ebby’s Place at the YWCA of Metropolitan Dallas.
Over the past year, the 20,000-square-foot building near Love Field has been transformed into a beautiful new community outreach center that will help lift economically challenged working women out of poverty. Ebby’s Place, opening this spring, will be a gathering spot where women come to be mentored, coached and encouraged by their peers.
To honor Ebby’s wish, simply click here or drop a check in the mail to the YWCA of Metropolitan Dallas, with a notation on the check that it’s for Ebby’s Place. Send your check to: YWCA, Attention Rena Smith, 2603 Inwood Road, Dallas, TX. 75235.

We are very excited to announce that Williams Trew Real Estate is now part of the Ebby Halliday Family of Companies. Williams Trew, Fort Worth’s leading residential real estate brokerage, was previously a Sotheby’s company. Below is the text of today’s full press release:
Dallas-based residential real estate brokerage Ebby Halliday Real Estate, Inc. announced today it has purchased Fort Worth-based luxury real estate boutique Williams Trew Real Estate. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Williams Trew, which was founded in 2000 by Martha Williams, Joan Trew and Marshall Boyd, will continue to be branded and conduct business under the name Williams Trew, an Ebby Halliday Real Estate Company and will continue to operate out of its current locations in Fort Worth. Ms. Williams and Ms. Trew will continue leadership roles with the company. Mr. Boyd will guide the transition and then pursue other existing business opportunities outside the company.
“Timing is everything, and the timing of this move meets current market needs and positions our company to better serve current and future residents of Fort Worth,” says President & CEO of the Ebby Halliday Companies Mary Frances Burleson. “This acquisition brings together two like-minded companies with many years of residential real estate experience.”
Ron Burgert, chief financial officer of the Ebby Halliday Companies, adds, “We have built our company on several strategic moves in our almost 70 years in business and we believe this acquisition will help ensure our market position for many years to come. From a business standpoint, we are able to combine budgets, marketing and advertising in a more strategic and cost-effective manner.”
“We are pleased to join Ebby Halliday and believe this move significantly strengthens our leading position in the Fort Worth marketplace,” says Martha Williams of Williams Trew Real Estate. “As part of Ebby Halliday, our agents and sellers will have more resources without losing our company culture. Both our companies are privately held and customer-focused.”
Adds Joan Trew, “Their team has a proven record of integrity, service and client satisfaction. They also have a record of integrating acquisitions smoothly and without employee or market interruption. We like and respect their approach to the business of people.”
The acquisition is effective immediately. “We are already working on the transition,” says Williams Trew co-founder Marshall Boyd. “It will be seamless to our clients and our agents and sellers will not be impacted. We will increase our marketing and advertising strength and realize targeted cost efficiencies.”
With this transaction, Williams Trew becomes an Ebby Halliday Company and will no longer be affiliated with Sotheby’s International Realty.
As an Ebby Halliday Company, Williams Trew and its Associates will benefit from the firm’s longtime affiliation with Leading Real Estate Companies of the World, a global network of more than 500 premier real estate brokers, and its luxury division, Luxury Portfolio International. LeadingRE affiliates produce more annual home sales than any other real estate network, according to Ebby Halliday Companies Corporate Real Estate Services Director Karen Greene.
“Membership in Leading Real Estate Companies of the World is by invitation only and is limited to the very best residential real estate companies worldwide,” says Greene, “We take pride in offering our clients knowledgeable Associates who provide exceptional service. Simply put, Williams Trew and its Associates are a perfect fit for the Ebby Halliday Companies.”
The Ebby Halliday Companies includes Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate, affiliated mortgage, insurance and title companies, and approximately 1,600 associates covering over 12,000 square miles of North Texas. It participated in more than 19,500 real estate transactions in 2013 with a sales volume of more than $6.4 billion. The Ebby Halliday Companies’ 13.5 percent share of the North Texas real estate market led all competitors, the nearest of which garnered 4.03 percent.
Independently owned and operated Ebby Halliday Realtors will celebrate its 70th anniversary in 2015. Having grown from a one-woman office to the largest independent real estate company in Texas, the company has consistently maintained a focus on service to the community. In addition to its support of many North Texas charitable organizations, the Ebby Halliday Companies belong to 27 local chambers of commerce.
“At Ebby Halliday, we’re proud of our undisputed role as the dominant real estate firm in North Texas,” Burleson says. “While 2014 has certainly been an exceptional year for our company, what remains most important to us is service to our clients, service to our industry and service to our community. We welcome – and appreciate – the opportunity to partner with Fort Worth’s most respected real estate brokerage.”
Williams Trew Real Estate is Fort Worth’s leading residential real estate brokerage firm. With over 80 experienced agents the company provides home buyers and sellers with unparalleled experience in residential, farm & ranch, lake or urban properties in the greater Fort Worth area.
