Happy Hill Farm Founder Passes Away

Today we remember a great man who exemplified Ebby’s motto of “Do Something for Someone Every Day” throughout his life, C. Edward Shipman, Sr.

Mr. Shipman founded Happy Hill Farm, now home to North Central Texas Academy, in 1975 and spent the next four decades changing the futures of thousands of children. It was always one of Ebby’s favorite charitable causes and one that Ebby Halliday Realtors remains committed to today.

Ed Shipman built and operated Happy Hill without state or federal funds. Initially, Happy Hill took in only troubled young people ages 4 through 18.

Said Mr. Shipman in 1986, “All the children who come here are in the midst of some kind of failure cycle. If you can turn that self-image around, you’re a long way down the line toward success.”

Happy Hill later added a day school operation and accepted international students. The name was changed to North Central Texas Academy at Happy Hill Farm. Today, Happy Hill is home to students from 17 countries and continues to change young lives for the better each and every day.

We’re proud of our association with Happy Hill Farm and encourage you to consider making a donation in honor of Ed Shipman’s remarkable life. Memorials may be made here or by mail at Happy Hill Farm, 3846 North Highway 144, Granbury, Texas, 76048.
