Thursday, Jan. 29:

Dallas Arboretum $5 Days: This is the last weekend that admittance to the wonderful world of the Dallas Arboretum is just $5.


The Marvel Experience: Experience Marvel comics and superheroes like never before with the world’s only 360-degree, 3-D stereoscopic theater, a state-of-the-art 4-D motion ride, and more. All the fun will be at Fair Park through February 1.


Rhett Miller: The headliner of the Old 97’s will be at The Kessler with opener Daphne Willis.


Sarah Jaffe: The rock star and Texas native will be at Lola’s with opener Nina Diaz.


Friday, Jan. 30:

Big Head Todd & The Monsters: The rock band will play at House of Blues.


Marvel Universe Live!: See all of your favorite superheroes perform in a live-action show that includes stunts, martial arts, motorcycle jumps and more. Spider Man, Iron Man, the Hulk and their friends will be at American Airlines Center through Sunday and then at the Fort Worth Convention Center the next weekend.


Saturday, Jan. 31:

Melvin Edwards: Five Decades: A retrospective of the renowned American sculptor will be on display at Nasher Sculpture Center through May 10.


Paula Poundstone: The NPR personality and standup comedian will be at AT&T Performing Arts Center.


Sunday, Feb. 1:

It’s Super Bowl Sunday!! Just about any sports-loving spot with TV’s will be showing the game and most are running specials on wings, beer, and other game day treats.

Thursday, Jan. 22:

Billy Joel: The legendary music star will be at American Airlines Center with opener and jazz-pop singer/songwriter Jamie Cullum.


Bouquets: French Still-Life Painting from Chardin to Matisse: The first major American exhibition to consider the French floral still life across the 19th century will be at the Dallas Museum of Art through February 8.


Dallas Arboretum $5 Days: Through the end of the month, admittance to the wonderful world of the Dallas Arboretum is just $5.


Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo: The 2015 show is in its second weekend and continues through February 7th. Head to Fort Worth for an unforgettable experience that will thrill the entire family.


John Mulaney: The Saturday Night Live writer will be at Majestic Theatre delivering laughs all night.

Friday, Jan. 23:

Kenny G: If you’re a jazz fan or just a lover of good music, head to Bass Performance Hall where the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra will welcome the saxophonist to promote his upcoming album, Brazillian Nights. He will be there through Sunday.


Mavs: The Dallas Mavericks take on the Chicago Bulls at American Airlines Center at 7 pm. Get out there and cheer them on!


Saturday, Jan. 24:

Harlem Globetrotters: The Globetrotters will stop in Dallas at American Airlines Center for three nights on their 2015 World Tour. Watch them perform incredible tricks, skills and comedy before grabbing an autograph and photo after the game.


North Texas Comic Book Show: Diehard comic book fans rejoice. Special guests Rich Buckler, creator of Deathlok, and Joe Rubenstein of Wolverine will be at The Doubletree Hotel Dallas Market Center on Saturday and Sunday.


Odysseo by Cavalia: This combination horse and theater show takes place at Dr. Pepper Ballpark in Frisco through February 8. It includes 63 horses and 46 artists putting on a show inside huge tents.


Texas Rangers Fan Fest: The Major League Baseball season officially starts back in less than a month. Celebrate the upcoming season while hanging out with players and other fans at Globe Life Park in Arlington. There will be autograph signings, Q&A sessions, base running, tours of the clubhouse and dugout, and more!


USA Film Festival’s KidFilm: If you’re looking for some family-friendly cinematic fun, just head to the Angelika Film Center Saturday and Sunday. There will be five films playing and some of the stars will be in the audience with you.

Dallas Arboretum $5 Days: Through the end of the month, admittance to the wonderful world of the Dallas Arboretum is just $5.


Beauty and The Beast: All weekend long, head to Bass Performance Hall for a broadway production of “a tale as old as time” based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature film.

Friday, Jan. 16:

Brett Eldredge: The country music star will take the stage at Billy Bob’s.


Bricks in the Wall: The Pink Floyd tribute band will play at the House of Blues.


Mavs: The Dallas Mavericks take on the Denver Nuggets at American Airlines Center at 7:30pm after a loss on Wednesday.


Rhythm in Fusion Festival: This four-day festival highlights tap dancing at its finest. Learn from top national dancers, choreographers, and industry professionals as they guide you through the world of tap at the Majestic Theater. Classes range from beginner to advanced and go through Monday.


Saturday, Jan. 17:

Artopia: The Dallas Observer’s annual event held at Centennial Hall in Fair Park focuses on emerging and undiscovered artists working in art, music, film, and fashion. Experience it all, plus food and drink, in one exciting night.


Have a Heart Benefit: Have A Heart is a benefit event built like a music festival, focusing on supporting local DFW families struggling with a diverse range of issues. This event will benefit John Bullard, a local man suffering from Cerebral Palsy, and promises to be a night of great music with 12 bands rocking the stage at Trees in Deep Ellum.


Hotcake Hustle: Runners, walkers, and pancake lovers unite in Addison for a day of exercise and indulgence. In addition to races and hotcakes, this event also features live music and a beer garden.


Sunday, Jan. 18:

Anjelah Johnson: Perhaps best known for her Nail Salon and Bon Qui Qui viral videos, the comedian will perform live at Music Hall at Fair Park.


Panther Island Ice: This is the last weekend to experience the outdoor ice rink at the Coyote Drive-in in Fort Worth.


Travis Tritt: The country singer will play at the Eisemann Center for the Performing Arts in Richardson.

Tuesday, Jan. 13:

Death & Co. Book Party at Midnight Rambler: Dave Kaplan and Alex Day, the owners of Death & Co., a well-known New York bar, and authors of “Death & Co.: Modern Classic Cocktails,” will host a booze-filled night at Midnight Rambler. One ticket gets you a copy of the book and endless drinks from 6-9pm.


From Our Family to Yours at Goodfriend: Now through Sunday, Goodfriend Beer Garden and Burger House will host daily special events benefiting The Family Place. There will be tappings of Widmer Brothers Brewing & Red Hook Brewing beers and raffles for special prizes.


Rahr & Sons Pint Night at Luck: Head over to Trinity Groves for a pint night featuring the brewery’s Bourbon Barrel Aged Winter Warmer. If you get there early you can take home your own BBAWW tulip glass.


Sundown at Granada’s Three-Year Anniversary Kale & Ale: In celebration of another successful year, the Greenville Ave. restaurant is offering $2 bottled beer and 1/2-price salads all day through Thursday in addition to their regular specials.


Wednesday, Jan. 14:

Rodeo Goat Ice House: After success in Fort Worth, the burger-focused restaurant will open a location in Dallas’ Design District.


Speed Rack Dallas at Life: The Deep Ellum spot will host its first-ever Speed Rack competition, an all-female speed-bartending tournament that benefits breast cancer. 21 of the areas top female bartenders will compete in timed heats for the title of “Miss Speed Rack Dallas.” This winner will go on to the national final in New York in June.


Thursday, Jan. 15:

Deep Ellum Wine Walk: The Deep Ellum Community Association and local merchants invite you for a night of wine, shopping and fun. You’ll take a Sip & Shop tour through the neighborhood and have the opportunity to win several grand prizes. Each destination on the tour will feature wine samplings.


Friday, Jan. 16:

Exotic Mushroom Dinner at Grace: This six-course, wine-paired dinner will feature a menu that highlights a variety of wild, foraged and cultivated mushrooms from around the states.


Sunday, Jan. 18:

Cooking Class with Chef Blythe Beck: The Kitchen LTO chef is hosting a “Naughty 101” cooking class featuring swanky southern cooking and wine pairings.



Ace’s Ice House & Chop Shop: Frisco has a new spot offering a Texas-style menu alongside southern hospitality.


Back Home Barbecue: In February, the owners of Company Cafe plan to open a drive-thru on Ross Ave. in East Dallas featuring barbecue, mac and cheese, and beer. The majority of the offerings will be gluten free and there will be some inside dining space.


Cyclone Anaya’s: The Oak Lawn restaurant closed its doors on January 9.


Filament: FT33’s Matt McCallister will open a new, Southern-style restaurant in Deep Ellum in spring 2015. Expect a more casual experience than FT33 but a similar style and approach to seasonal offerings.


Tacodeli: The popular Austin-based taqueria will open up its first location in Dallas in June at Sylvan Thirty. The menu offers a variety of taco as well as soups, salads and breakfast tacos.

Tuesday, Jan. 6:

Kitchen LTO: Chef Blythe Beck is back by popular demand. After major backing from social media fans, the chef will remain at her executive position at Kitchen LTO for another four months. Stop by and see what all the hype is about today when she debuts new lunch and dinner menus including mini beer-battered corn dogs, champagne brie bisque, garlic shrimp with jalapeño bacon cheddar grits, chicken fried quail and waffles and more.


Rahr & Son’s Pint Night: The Gingerman Fort Worth and Southlake will host pint nights on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively. Both will feature Rahr’s Bourbon Barrel Aged Winter Warmer and you’ll get a limited edition BBAWW tulip glass.


Wednesday, Jan. 7:

Lakewood Brewing Tapping at Bottle Shop: The brewery’s newest additions, the 2014 Bourbon Barrel Temptress and Sin Mint, both imperial milk stouts, will be on tap at Greenville Ave’s WBC Bottle Shop. Join in the celebration and get a free glass.


Thursday, Jan. 8:

Henderson Avenue Country Club Grand Opening: At the beginning of December, we reported that this honky-tonk joint would open in January and now the time is upon us. Celebrate with brisket, catfish, smoked quail, habanero cheddar grits and more, plus craft cocktails, beer, and music by Texas artists.


Saturday, Jan. 10:

3rd-Annual Chocolate Momentum Tour: Does it get better than eating chocolate for a good cause? Taste treats from Kate Weiser Chocolate, Village Baking Company, Isabelly’s Sweet Treats and others during this event brought to you by Dallas Bites Food Tours. You get all of this, including transportation, a tour guide, and food and beverage samples for just $39. A portion of each ticket benefits Cafe Momentum and its dedication to at-risk youth.


Sunday, Jan. 11:

Taste of the Championship: Local top chefs are getting in on the celebration of the first College Football National Championship, which comes to North Texas January 12. 18 chefs and 10 former NFL and college legends, including Tim Brown, Larry Brown, Tony Dorsett, Randy White and more, will be at the Irving Convention Center. Proceeds benefit the College Football Playoff Foundation and North Texas Food Bank.



East Hampton Sandwich Co.: Owner and Dallas-native, Hunter Pond made the Forbes 2015 30 Under 30 List in Food & Wine.


Ida Claire: The restaurant group Fork It Over- think Velvet Taco, Whiskey Cake and Mexican Sugar- are planning to open a “Southern gastropub” in Addison early next summer. Expect twists on southern classics, beautiful cocktails, and Southern hospitality with a rebellious side.


Grip Mediterranean Grill & Ali Baba: The Preston Center Mediterranean restaurant has closed its doors. This coincided with the closing of its sibling restaurant Ali Baba in Lakewood.


Patina Green Home and Market: The McKinney gourmet sandwich shop will begin dinner service in April after it undergoes a remodel. Dinner menu items will rotate on a weekly basis.


Remedy: Greenville Ave’s newest restaurant opened last Friday, Jan. 2nd. We’ve been waiting for this one for a while and we’ve heard great things! Head over for a fish sandwich, homemade pimento cheese and buttermilk biscuits, hushpuppies, “The Bob Sundae” with dark chocolate ice cream, caramel, potato chips and salt, and more.


Smoke Plano: The guys behind the popular barbecue spot in Oak Cliff plan to open a second location in West Plano by the end of 2015.


Snap Kitchen Addison: Yesterday, Jan. 5, Addison became Snap’s fifth Dallas location. Snap Kitchen is dedicated to healthy grab-and-go options and also offers healthy pre-packaged meals.


Snuffer’s Addison: The iconic burger and cheese-fry restaurant hopes to open doors at an Addison location in spring 2015.


Spoon: John Tesar will close the restaurant and move it to a new location to open in January 2016. After experiencing extraordinary success recently, Tesar plans to form his own company and open Spoon in a hotel setting. He’s also planning to open an Italian restaurant named Fork in spring 2015.


Taqueria La Ventana: The owner of Mesa Maya and El Fenix is planning a “casual taco” concept to open by late spring 2015.
