Frisco Ranked ‘Healthiest Housing Market’

Frisco Ranked ‘Healthiest Housing Market’ in U.S.

Seven North Texas cities made the top 25 of a list of cities with the “Healthiest Housing Market” developed by WalletHub.

The rankings, which compared 300 U.S. cities across a series of metrics that included median home-price appreciation and home price as a percentage of income to job growth, listed Frisco as the city with the healthiest housing market in the country.

Seven North Texas cities made the list’s Top 25: Frisco, Allen, Plano, Carrollton, McKinney, Richardson and Denton. Other North Texas cities that landed in the Top 100 included Irving (39), Fort Worth (46), Grand Prairie (58), Arlington (67), Garland (79) and Dallas (99).

Frisco’s Held Wins Prestigious Award

post

At the recent Texas Association of Realtors Winter Meeting in Austin Ebby Frisco Associate Meredith Held was recognized for her determination and contribution to Texas real estate.

Held, who is a member of the Collin County Association of Realtors and a past president of the association, won the Government Affairs Strike Force Award for initiating the “Bury the Lines” campaign in Frisco. “Bury the Lines” is an effort to have overhead high-voltage transmission lines that are proposed to run along a large and primary street in Frisco, be buried underground.

In 2013, Meredith asked CCAR for its support in fighting the proposed lines. In 2014, Adam Majorie, CCAR’s Government Affairs Director, requested funds from the Issues Mobilization Political Action Committee and was successful in obtaining funds to print yard signs, have an informational posting on an electronic billboard in the area, secure a lobbyist, and hire a law firm to represent those who wish to testify before the Texas Public Utility Commission.

Due to her diligence and commitment to retain Frisco’s property values, Meredith was awarded. “I was extremely surprised and very honored to receive this recognition,” she says.

Meredith, thank you for your service to our industry and congratulations on a well-deserved honor!

America’s Fastest-Growing Suburb is …

The Fastest-Growing Suburb in America

Pop quiz: Name five of the fastest-growing suburban cities in the country.

Give yourself a point if you came up with Frisco, Texas. Add another if you named Carmel, Ind. Ditto for Sugar Land, Texas, South Jordan, Utah, and Franklin, Tenn.

Frisco, about 25 minutes north of Dallas, has been named one of the country’s best cities in which to live by both CNN and Forbes in the past five years. Many people — 136,000, at last count — agree, pushing the city’s growth rate from 2012-2013 to 6.5 percent, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Before then — from 2000-2010 — Frisco’s growth was an amazing 247 percent, taking the city from 33,714 residents to 116,989.

Maher Maso, the city’s mayor, says it’s all been part of a plan. “When I moved here in 1992, we had 6,000 people and one blinking yellow light — and not much else,” he remembers. “Our growth hasn’t been an overnight thing. We’ve planned for it.”

Tony Felker, president/CEO of the Frisco Chamber of Commerce agrees, “We’re aware and proud of the growth, but there’s a concerted effort to ensure the growth by itself isn’t the thing we’re most focused on. We want to make sure it’s smart, sustainable, and quality growth.” At Ebby Halliday Realtors, we’re appreciative of these very qualities. Simply put, we’re bullish on Frisco and all of North Texas.

If you’d like to learn more about why Frisco is so attractive (hint: education, location, small-town values and a wide variety of great homes), Associates from our Frisco Office would love to fill in the blanks. To get started, visit frisco.ebby.com.

Frisco Office Hosts Chelsea Santas Event

As the holiday shopping season kicks off in earnest, Ebby’s Frisco Office will host “Chelsea Santas for City House!” This prime seasonal shopping opportunity takes place November 5-6 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and features the works of internationally renowned artist Chelsea Fair.

A resident of Frisco, Fair has been handcrafting Old World-style Santa Clauses and his different facades in her workshop for more than 20 years. Today those handcrafted Kriss Kringles can be found on the shelves at Neiman Marcus stores, in the White House and in the homes of celebrities nationwide.

Fair enjoys humanizing her Santas by creating different personas, including a cowboy, a golfer and one of the top sellers, Pancho Navidad. Each one of Santa’s costumes is made by hand and sewn out of faux furs and velvet.

Chelsea Santas for CityHouse! takes place at Ebby’s Frisco Office at 1415 Legacy Drive, Suite 100, and offers very attractive discount pricing. A portion of the proceeds benefit the nonprofit City House, which provides emergency shelter and transitional residential services to children and young adults who are in need due to abuse, neglect or homelessness. Frisco Gets First Luxury Hotel

Omni Hotels & Resorts and the Dallas Cowboys are partnering to bring a luxury hotel to the team’s project in Frisco.

The 300-room Omni Frisco Hotel — the city’s first luxury hotel — will be a cornerstone for the development surrounding the Cowboys new headquarters and a training facility that will be shared with the city of Frisco and Frisco ISD. It will be built adjacent to a 12,000-seat multi-use event center and include a rooftop pool overlooking a plaza area that will be a focal point for the Cowboys development.

The multi-use event center will be used not only for Cowboys practices but also for high school football games and other school and city events, meetings and conventions. The agreement among the Dallas Cowboys, the city of Frisco and Frisco ISD has been hailed as a unique pairing between an NFL franchise and a school district that will benefit students for years to come.
