D-FW Continues to Win Awards

Will the accolades ever stop rolling in for North Texas? It’s highly doubtful since our cities continue to rack up awards. This time around, Grand Prairie, Plano, Irving, Garland, and Fort Worth are all making news.

 

Grand Prairie (No. 2), Plano (No. 9), Irving (No. 12) and Garland (No. 14) all ranked in the top 15 of WalletHub’s 2014’s Best and Worst Places to Retire. Though retirement and financial security are a common dream, the study reports that “a fifth of American workers approaching retirement age haven’t saved for it.”

 

In order to establish these rankings, the 150 largest cities in the U.S. were analyzed based on 25 key metrics. These included everything from cost of living to job prospects for workers 65 or older to the availability of recreational activities. In other great news, Fort Worth’s Sundance Square won the International Downtown Association‘s “Downtown Pinnacle Award” for Downtown Leadership & Management. Here’s a basic summary of why it beat out the 10 other entries in the category:

 

“Sundance Square has added a remarkable, innovative lifestyle element to downtown Fort Worth: an extremely flexible, comfortable, and active space…literally on Main Street. Sundance Square Plaza makes downtown a more appealing residential option, a better hospitality offering and a more enjoyable office choice.”

 

So there you have it, people, living in D-FW is just the gift that keeps on giving!
