Nature Paradise: The Hamptons

B

With the arrival of the Final Four in D-FW this week, you may be thinking it’s time for a long weekend out of town – or at least that you should have leased your North Texas home for the weekend! Lucky for you the just-mailed spring issue of Grand Vie: Luxury in Living magazine features a special section on exceptional vacation homes available for purchase in The Hamptons by our friend and noted real estate blogger Candy Evans. The homes are represented by Halstead Property, the Ebby Halliday Companies’ Luxury Portfolio International partner in The Hamptons.

The Hamptons are a group of villages and hamlets in the towns of Southampton and East Hampton, located along the South Fork of Long Island, N.Y. Very historic towns; each holds lore dating back to the 1600s. For years, artists swarmed here to capture the incredible natural, changing light that is never the same. There are great beaches, no high-rises, no hotels, no amusement parks, only sugar-white sand and perfect water.

Just a few of the area’s more-notable homeowners include Gwyneth Paltrow, Tory Burch, Alec Baldwin, Scarlett Johansson, Howard Stern, Steven Spielberg, Jerry Seinfeld and Lorne Michaels of “Saturday Night Live” fame.

What can you get in The Hamptons? The average home price is about $1.4 million. New construction is hottest in the high-end sales, which in The Hamptons is defined as $5 million and up. But, with some careful shopping, you can pick up a place in The Hamptons for as little as $500,000 to $600,000.
