North Texas Cities Among Best Places for Families

North Texas Cities Among Best Places to Raise Family

A new study lists several North Texas cities among the best places to raise a family in Texas. SmartAsset looked at 87 cities with a population greater than 25,000 for the study, and measured them on 12 metrics including family poverty rate, median household income, high school graduation rate and violent crime rate. Six North Texas cities took the 2-7 spots in the list. Each of these cities is served by Ebby Halliday Realtors.

SmartAsset’s Best Places to Raise a Family in Texas:

*  Leander
*  Frisco
*  Southlake
*  McKinney
*  Mansfield
*  Grapevine
*  Keller
*  Georgetown
*  Round Rock
*  Pearland

From Smart Assets:

Frisco

Frisco is a great Texas city to raise a family. This city has some of the lowest crime rates in the state, ranking fourth in violent crime and ninth in property crime. Another plus for prospective families looking in the area is that Frisco is also relatively young. About 35 percent of the population is 19 or younger, meaning plenty of chances for kids to make friends. Plus, the city boasts a low unemployment rate of only 4.3 percent.

Southlake

Southlake is a wealthy suburb of the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area, with one of the best education systems in the state. The city graduates almost all of its students: its 99 percent graduation rate is the highest in the top 10. And many of those students achieve high marks in their AP exams. Southlake also has the lowest rate of family poverty in the study. Only 2.1 percent of families here fall under the poverty line.

McKinney ranks high on this list because students from this city are some of the highest achieving in the state. McKinney ranked first for both percent of students who take AP exams (almost 40 percent) and percent of those students who score 3 or better on their AP exams (76.7 percent).

Southlake Office Celebrates Grand Opening

We’re excited to announce that Ebby Southlake Associates and staff, corporate executives, clients and guests, including Southlake Mayor Pro-Tem Laura Hill, members of the Southlake City Council and representatives from the Southlake Chamber of Commerce, celebrated the grand opening of Ebby’s brand-new Southlake Office this morning! The celebration included an official ribbon-cutting for our beautiful new, more than 12,000-square-foot office at 1575 E. Southlake Blvd., across from Southlake Town Square.

“This beautiful new office is built for the future,” says Ron Burgert, chief financial officer of the Ebby Halliday Companies. “Built from the ground up, it offers a superior location in the heart of Southlake and is a statement of our commitment to serving Tarrant County for many years to come.”

The exquisitely finished-out office replaces our longtime, approximately 8,000-square-foot Southlake Office. Ebby Halliday has served Southlake-area homebuyers and sellers since 1985.

“We are extremely happy with the way our new Southlake Office turned out,” says Southlake Sales Manager Carolyn Rosson. “I want to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped bring this extraordinary new office to reality. Ebby Halliday has been part of the Southlake community for nearly 30 years and has distinguished itself as a valued partner for our clients and a leader in luxury real estate. We are so excited about the future of this great city.”

Adds Mary Frances Burleson, president and CEO of the Ebby Halliday Companies, “We’re proud of our commitment to this beautiful part of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. We look forward to serving current and future residents in the manner they deserve for many years to come.”
