Our People are the Difference

Our People are the Difference

Many things make Ebby Halliday Realtors unique in North Texas – a legacy of sincere service to the community for more than 70 years, the first MLS transaction, and more than $7.85 billion in real estate transactions in the past year – but what really makes the company special is its people.

“Ebby always said she was able to achieve what she was able to because she was blessed with a great team,” says President & CEO Mary Frances Burleson. “We care for each other and we care for our clients. This more than anything is what makes this company stand head and shoulders above everyone else in the industry.”

Ebby Halliday Realtors is a reflection of Ebby herself, an extraordinary leader who inspired thousands of people with her simple approach of “Do Something for Someone Every Day.” And, as the company has grown, it has attracted many like-minded individuals who have played major roles in enriching its reputation for empathetic, knowledgeable and hardworking sales associates and employees.

“We’re a company, a corporation, but we’re hardly faceless,” Burleson says. “We’re made up of real people, with big hearts and keen minds – people who care about serving other people. We are quick to listen and slow to speak. We are given to taking on our clients’ problems as if they’re our own. And we’re determined to always do right by them.”

Top 5 Tips for House Hunters

Top 5 Tips for House Hunters

When shopping for a new home, it’s easy to get swept away by a property’s most charming characteristics — and to play down important things you may regret later. Define your priorities early on to streamline the house-hunting process.

Below are five tips to help you stay organized and focused:

Location matters.  Location is a key consideration when choosing a home, and there are multiple factors that can affect your decision. Just a few of these include schools, commute times to work, and local amenities such as nearby restaurants, shopping and attractions.

List your priorities. You’ll save hours of shopping for a home if you list what you need and want in a home ahead of time. Zero in on the features you must have, would like to have, would prefer not to have — and definitely don’t want.

Get pre-approved for a mortgage. How much you can pay for a home is a function of your income, creditworthiness, interest rates, the type of loan and how much cash you have for the down payment and closing costs. Rather than guessing, ask a mortgage banker to give you a full assessment and a pre-approval letter stating how much you’re qualified to borrow. A great place to start is at Home Team Mortgage, Ebby Halliday’s affiliated mortgage company.

Use a checklist. Touring multiple properties is a confusing experience for most buyers. Rather than trying to rely on your memory, make notes about the homes you visit. Turn your priorities into a personalized home-shopping checklist and use it to track features of each property.

Relax.  Buying a home is a major life-altering event, but it’s not worth getting too stressed out. As with all major occasions in life, it’s important to keep the experience in perspective.

Today’s homebuyers have access to a wealth of information, but may not have a way to tailor it to their needs. That’s where a real estate professional can save you a great deal of time and money. To find just the right agent for your real estate needs and to view properties for sale in North Texas, visit the award-winning ebby.com. Dallas-area Home Prices Rising

Dallas-area Home Prices Rising

Dallas-area home prices were up 9.3% in March from a year earlier in the latest Standard & Poor’s/Case-Shiller Home Price Index.

The Dallas-area increase was more than twice the national average of 4.1%. And March’s year-over-year price gain rose from 8.6 percent in February.

Dallas had the third-highest home price increase in the country, behind San Francisco, 10.3%, and Denver, 10%.

Experts agree that North Texas home prices are rising thanks to strong growth in the region and a shortage of homes for sale.
