The summer 2017 issue of Dallas-Fort Worth’s premier luxury home magazine, Grand Vie: Luxury in Living, is out and is now arriving in more than 60,000 luxury homes across Dallas-Fort Worth.
Grand Vie is the luxury home publication of Ebby Halliday Realtors and the newest member of the Ebby Halliday Companies, Fort Worth-based Williams Trew Real Estate. It’s the only magazine that covers the full breadth of the luxury home market in North Texas and includes two beautiful versions: East and West, depending upon which side of the Trinity River you reside.
In addition to featuring some of Dallas-Fort Worth’s premier luxury properties, the 23rd edition of Grand Vie offers a plethora of interesting editorial content, including “Family Farmhouse,” highlighting a fun design project of partner and designer of IBB Design Fine Furnishings Shay Geyer for a local couple seeking spaces that could grow with their family; “Skewer It,” which invites you to discover the true potential of cooking on a stick; “Houses of Art,” highlighting some of the area’s top cultural events of the season; special sections for farm & ranch and lake properties; and LuxeTrends, showcasing a collection of the latest luxury lifestyle must-haves. Also in the summer issue: Real estate insider Candy Evans finds a summer paradise in Vail, Colorado.

It’s the first day of spring, and if you haven’t done so already, now is definitely the time to give your yard the respect it deserves. As homeowners everywhere know, nothing can bring you down from the weather high that March brings quite like a backyard that’s still caught in winter.
In the brand-new spring 2015 edition of Grand Vie: Luxury in Living magazine, the only luxury-home publication to bring you the very best of Dallas and Fort Worth, we chatted with two renowned local landscape architects, Harold Leidner and Angelynn Harvey, about their top tips for getting your yard ready for the season.
Grand Vie: Yard trends change just like home décor trends. What’s a new fad you are seeing in residential yards this year?
Harold Leidner: A more modern style and feel. We have always loved a more modern style, but clients traditionally are more reserved in the style of homes they build, which often dictates the surrounding gardens. Thankfully, more modern architecture in the market means our clients are receptive to a cleaner and more sophisticated design style.
GV: What is the most extreme thing a client has asked you to do?
HL: We had a great client who asked us to create a movie projection water screen as a part of his pool design. This way he could sit in his pool and watch a movie projected on a sheet of water. It started as a wild idea but we turned it into reality. The result was amazing.

Our smartphones and tablets play a vital role in our lives, but it’s important to remember to make time for yourself. In our mind, technology should simplify your daily routine and deliver the ultimate luxury: time. Following are a few of our favorite innovations brought to our attention by our friends at Luxury Portfolio International. Each will provide peace of mind while saving you time.
The gold standard of home automation, you name it and the Control4 system does it. Your smartphone or tablet can be used as the command center for the entire home, conveniently integrating lighting, music, home theater, climate and security. Program the perfect “wake-up” setting with your favorite music, followed by a gentle opening of the shades and a brightening of the lights or impress your friends and get the hot tub bubbling with a touch of your smartphone.
Pet owners, you know this one: you’re out having a good time when suddenly it dawns on you that you forgot to feed your furry friend. No need to panic — with the Petnet SmartFeeder all you need is your smartphone to fill Fifi’s bowl wherever you are. Schedule regular feeding times, manage portions and even track your pet’s calorie intake to keep your beloved four legged family member happy and healthy, while giving you one less thing to worry about.
An automatic irrigation system is nice, but does yours know to skip a cycle when it’s been raining all day? Greenbox is an intuitive system that automatically schedules your watering program based on the local weather and can be easily controlled from your phone. Simply connect the valve wires of your existing watering system to the Greenbox and within minutes you’ll be saving water, money and never have to stress over the lawn again.

With the growing impact of people on the environment, any company that finds a more sustainable approach can be labeled pioneers. Zuri Bikes has done just that by crafting first-class bikes out of bamboo. But more importantly, the company is creating jobs in Zambia by growing its bamboo there and focusing on local frame production with healthy work conditions. Each bike is then assembled in Germany.
