North Texas Halloween Weekend Roundup 2017

Make your Halloween memorable this year with one of these Halloween-themed events in North Texas. 

Day of the Dead Festival
Celebrate the fall season and pay homage to the goodness of the harvest, Dia de los Muertos, and all things Halloween at a Day of the Dead Festival on Saturday, Oct. 28. This free, family-friendly event in Denton offers trick-or-treating, a pumpkin patch, games, local food and art, and activities for all ages including a salsa cook-off, street performers, coffin races, and a lantern-lit parade. The festival starts at 11 a.m. and offers events all day.
Glow Yoga Class
Put on your best ’80s and ’90s workout costume and head to this 45-minute, glow-inspired yoga class on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Hosted by the Arlington Yoga Center and taking place at the legal Draft Beer Co., enjoy an afternoon of stretching and fun music, followed by a pint of beer. Admission is $15.

Halloween Nights at the Dallas Zoo

Head to the Dallas Zoo each night until Oct. 29 to enjoy a family friendly Halloween event in a “wild” setting. Children can dress up in costume and trick-or-treat at stations situated throughout the zoo. You’ll also find bounce houses, games, frequent animal encounters, food trucks, a beer garden, and more. Admission is $10 and includes six candy coupons; parking is $7.
Halloween Skate
Get into the spirit and head to the Allen Community Ice Rink on Saturday, Oct. 28 for a Halloween-themed skate event. From 11:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m., skate your heart out and enjoy candy, raffles, and more. Howl-O-Ween Pup Social & Doggie Costume Party

Poe in the ‘Hood

It’s the time of the year when zombies and ghouls take over Six Flags Over Texas. Sticker Treating at the Dallas Arboretum

Dallas’ Off-Site Kitchen is closing its original location this week. The beloved burger joint near the Design District is relocating to Trinity Groves, close to the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge. The last day to grab your favorite burger before the one-week pause is this Saturday, June 6. The new location is slated to open June 16.


Jefferson Tower in Oak Cliff now houses Carnival Barker’s Ice Cream Factory, a small company that will serve several rotating flavors of ice cream and a variety of ice cream sandwiches 24 hours a day, seven days a week.


Texas Tapas, a brand new tapas restaurant, is now open in Deep Ellum. The menu features American-style share plates with a Texas twist, including chicken and waffles and fried ribeye with gravy and eggs.
