Ebby’s Iconic Little White House Gets Makeover
One of Dallas’ most recognizable landmarks recently received a major upgrade.

 

“While the exterior of Ebby’s Little White House at the corner of Northwest Highway and Preston Road still looks very familiar to the thousands of people who drive by daily, inside our valued clients, Associates and staff members are enjoying a brand-new, beautiful environment,” says Keith Newman, the office’s sales manager.

 

When the Little White House was built several miles north of downtown Dallas in 1926 it was surrounded only by fields. By 1939, enough people lived nearby – almost 800 – that the area incorporated as the Town of Preston Hollow and the building briefly doubled as its town hall.

 

Ebby Halliday bought the property in 1964 for approximately $100,000 and spent almost $50,000 repairing and remodeling the structure before making it her signature office.

 

While it’s the oldest building for miles around, Ebby’s Little White House today features a just-completed, beautiful interior with the latest technology. Below are just a few recent photos taken recently inside this Dallas landmark.

HPISD Centennial Celebration Big Success


President & CEO of the Ebby Halliday Companies Mary Frances Burleson and HPISD Superintendent Dr. Dawson Orr enjoy the Centennial Celebration.

The Highland Park Independent School District marked its 100th anniversary this past Sunday, with a joyful community celebration of its past, present and future.  The Ebby Halliday Companies, which includes Ebby Halliday Realtors and Dave Perry-Miller & Associates, was the presenting sponsor of the fun-filled event.

 

“The schools have long been the heart of this exceptional community, and our company is pleased to help mark this significant milestone in a meaningful way,” said Mary Frances Burleson, president and CEO of the Ebby Halliday Companies.

 

Ms. Burleson, who graduated from Highland Park High School in 1953, is a recipient of the district’s Distinguished Alumni Award. She’s also a member of the Highland Park Education Foundation’s board of directors.

 

Ms. Burleson proudly wore her 10th-grade beanie to the Community Centennial Celebration, where she was among the dignitaries who addressed the crowd.

 

The booth staffed by the Ebby Halliday Companies was very popular with current HPISD students, thanks to the bowls of free candy that sat between giveaways.

 

Nearby, the district’s Multi-Purpose Activities Center was transformed into a museum that detailed the history of each campus and profiled some of the high school’s notable alums. Among the items on display was the Heisman Trophy won by Doak Walker in 1948, and the Cy Young Awards won by Clayton Kershaw in 2011 and 2013.

Median Park Cities Sales Price Tops $1,000,000

Steve Brown over at The Dallas Morning News is reporting that the median home sales price in the Park Cities topped $1 million for the first time in the first quarter of 2014.

 

According to the latest data from the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University and the North Texas Real Estate Information Systems, a mid-priced home in Highland Park or University Park now costs $1.1 million. That’s 30 percent more than what the median home sales price in the Park Cities was in first-quarter 2013.

 

Sales of million-dollar plus homes across North Texas are soaring. To date in 2014, 194 houses priced at $1 million and up have sold, according to MLS statistics. That’s a third more of than in first-quarter 2013.
