North Texas is Great for First-Time Home Buyers

North Texas is Great for First-Time Home Buyers

The accolades just keep piling up for North Texas. In a recent report by realtor.com, Fort Worth and Dallas were named two of the top ten best cities in the U.S. for first-time home buyers in 2014!

The study examined five key factors that make particular markets ideal for first-time buyers: market popularity, prices, inventory, time on market and unemployment rates. Though Florida captured three of the top ten spots, Texas had solid rankings with Fort Worth in the No. 4 spot and Dallas in the No. 8 spot.

“As we head into home-buying season, these markets show favorable conditions for first-time buyers, which is encouraging because these buyers are crucial to the housing market,” said Steve Berkowitz, CEO of Move Inc., operator of realtor.com.® “First-time buyers have a widespread impact on the local housing markets. In transitioning from renters to owners, new buyers pay property taxes and other fees and taxes associated with homeownership that benefit local schools and services.”
